"A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff. Perhaps not the easiest of places to find, even if you do know your way around as it 's hidden away in a quiet back street in an already quiet village location. We were quickly seated on arrival and drinks soon sorted. An adequate choice on the Sunday Lunch menu, including traditional Sunday Roasts and pub classics. Vegan and vegetarian options. A nice touch that although my wife chose a main that was shown as vegan on the menu, they thoughtfully asked if she was indeed vegan (or vegetarian) before the food arrived so as to tailor accompanying veg/roasties/yorkshire pud accordingly. Starters, mains and desserts were all simply presented, without excessively flamboyant garnishes etc but that 's no criticism, just an observation the food itself was very good indeed. Really enjoyed our starter roasted asparagus with garlic mushrooms. Only minor criticism being that one of the sides (cauliflower cheese) was a bit over browned. Swiftly noted by server and a replacement offered (but declined it really was no big deal). I had the classic beer batter fish with chunky chips. Menu said mushy peas but regular petit pois were served. Superb chunky chips and chef really nailed that beer batter (apparently using Hooky ale seems to work well at any rate delightfully light batter with no soggy bits or over hard bits either). Generous portions all round, so both of us elected to leave a little room for our desserts We both enjoyed our meal and will doubtless be back at some point in the near future."

"Lovely food, very welcoming and friendly, efficient service. We have stopped here a couple of times to break up long journeys. The first time we had a superb roast and this time we had their set menu which was excellent value. The food was delicious especially the risotto and top quality fish and chips. Will try the full menu next time. They even welcomed our dog. If we lived nearby we’d be in there all the time! "The Barn at the Butchers Arms is perfect for a big family celebration. We had a wonderful lunch for 21 people to celebrate my mum's 90th birthday with 7 great grandchildren and all the generations in between plus a couple of dogs. Having the whole room allowed plenty of time for family to gather as they were coming from all over the country and we had space for a childrens area to keep the little ones happy. Sam and Claire were really helpful during the planning stages and on the day food was delicious and service flexible, prompt but unobtrusive. It was the perfect start to a big family reunion and a memorable big birthday for mum. Thank you to all in the kitchen and front of house."

"On 16th November I held a private party for 90 men at this Hotel. The function room setting was a delight. The atmosphere created by dimming the lights and the pre-Christmas decorations set the mood for the evening. We arrived at 7:45 and the staff, who were very accommodating, managed to cope with 90 thirsty men in a very professional and timely manner at the bar. We dined spot on time at 8:15, a very acceptable Terrine starter was served followed by roast beef which was excellent, we concluded with Sweet and Cheese. The meal and service could not have been better. The manager was in attendance, to ensure that if any problems might arise they could be dealt with, but non arose. The serving staff were excellent polite and very courteous in manner. We were supposed to finish by 10:00 but unfortunately we over ran by nearly one hour but no pressure was put upon us to leave. I can only thank the Manger and all his staff for what was a very memorable evening for us all, everybody going away saying, Please when can we come again. Food drinks: Brilliant, the Chef is to be congratulated on accommodating a number of vegetarians at the last minute let alone for the quality of the meal and the way in which it was presented"

"First, the positives: the restaurant has a stylish and inviting atmosphere, although some adjustments to the table layout and new artwork could enhance it further. The service was excellent—attentive and professional. The poppadoms and naans were tasty. However, the rest of the dishes did not meet the same standard. Most of our food was coated in a bright red sauce, including the mixed starter platter, which resulted in minimal variation between the items and a lack of subtlety in flavors and textures. There was also a strong smell of incense throughout the restaurant. Despite these issues, we had a pleasant evening, and the staff deserves special praise. Nevertheless, I am uncertain if we would return."
