"We have come for years to PFT.. Having our dinner in the restaurant before the performance ensured we had no timing worries and the service team were always very efficient and helpful. We brought our 12 year old grandson to both performances of The Bannf Film show and as we have done in the past we prebooked our meal. The menu seemed fine but when the food arrived the smoked salmon pate starter was disappointing.... more like a squirt of piped fishy cream cheese and a pile of mixed leaves. The soup and goats cheese were ok. My Grandson asked for pasta with Mediterranean vegetables and a tomato sauce. He was served a huge plate of pasta tubes with ugly big lumps of courgette and a small amount of sauce. The look of the plate was anything but appetising. I chose the blade of beef. This turned out to be pulled beef, which had been shaped in a ramekin dish, some pretty stiff creamed potato and a couple of sticks of carrot, served with a spoonful of gravy. It tasted ok but was dry and I had to ask for more gravy, which was brought quickly. We have had this previously and was a favourite. Usually a lovely piece of meat in a tasty gravy with fluffy potato and two vegetables. So disappointed. The choice of sweets were not exciting. Date pudding, a cheese board or a chocolate mousse. My husband had the date pudding, which he enjoyed. Since my grandson and I didn’t fancy dates or the chocolate sweet we chose the cheese board, which used to be wonderful. It now offers a pile of biscuits, a bunch of grapes and three different very small pieces of cheese. Considering the cost of each meal was £29.99, I felt it was quite expensive. Certainly not the quality which we used to have. Everything seems to have been pared back so much that it’s just not the same. We have booked for the shows throughout 2020 and have booked meals for each but will probably change our plans now. Really very disappointed."

The restaurant is located on the riverbank, offering stunning views. The coffee is excellent and the shop has a variety of unique items to browse through.

This restaurant is fantastic. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the entertainment is top-notch. What more could you ask for? It's a very cozy dining experience.

I spent an afternoon at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre for the Winter Words Festival. Various writers were showcasing their latest books. The restaurant/cafe had a nice atmosphere, although it was quite busy with people. Speisekarte ansehen

Visited here to attend a performance of’Brief Encounter’ . Did a familiarisation visit the day before and had lunch. Food was excellent, staff friendly and views terrific. Well worthy of a visit if near Pitlochry away from the busy town centre.

The restaurant staff are very friendly and will always try to give you a window seat overlooking the River Tummel spectacular when in spate! Their Fish and Chips are always excellent. If you have time a walk around Pitlochry is always worthwhile.

I had so looked forward to having lunch today, as it has been great in the past. The menu was so unimaginative- mainly burgers and ciabattas. My ciabatta arrived with a piece of tomato, undressed rocket leaves and a spoonful of coleslaw. The service was friendly and attentive, but we won't be back.

We used the cafe as a meet up with family from south (we are from north) looking forward to coffee n cake but the cake was a no no There was a line of nice looking cakes and tray bakes but they were uncovered. They were stretched out on a shelf which was between the queue of people waiting to be served and those doing the serving The goods were being breathed over by the customers and the fact that they were uncovered meant that produce would be receiving any germs that may be sneezed out by those waiting on line or indeed (as witnessed) by customers who pick up a cake (no tongs) then put it back and select another . Coffee ok ...staff very good ......BUT

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
