"Made a late booking for the Sunday roast spoke to the lovely Wendy the manager, over the phone she done everything she could to accommodate myself and partner. What a lovely warm welcome we got. We were welcomed like old friends. The food was amazing home cooked hot food. It felt like going to someone’s house for Christmas Day. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. The service was spot on, the staff lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and spotlessly clean. The prices were reasonable. We enjoyed a lovely beef roast with all the trimming including extra gravy, follows by aunties homemade pavlova. I don’t normally leave reviews, but felt I had to after visiting this gem of a place. Which I found via trip advisor so thought only fair for me to also report back after my Visit. If your near or staying in Southend and don’t visit this restaurant your be sorry. "I have been a regular of this place since it opened, always loved it always opt for local, small buisnesses (haven't been in a little while) I am a full time cafe worker myself but today was an experience I have never witnessed before! Coffee was nice however I ordered the avocado on toast and I couldn't believe it was allowed to have come out the kitchen at all. Extremely small thin piece of toast with burnt edges, the thinnest layer of avocado which came with no chilli flakes (says it does) the presentation was awful considering I have ordered this dish in the past it came as a bigger thicker slice of toast loaded with avocado was delicious! I am a food blogger and always post your food! Cannot believe you guys charge £9.5 for this! My friends pancakes were black and as the waitress put the meal down she said if they're too burnt I can take them back! They shouldn't have been served to us then! My friend got new pancakes I ordered pancakes instead of avo so we didn't eat together. My pancakes came out and were nice to start but by the 2nd pancake I cut into it and it was just raw batter, completely uncooked! I told the waitress and said I wouldn't be paying for it so she took it away from me but also said how i wasn't having much luck today... weird thing to say to an already disappointed customer. We weren't offered any drinks and went up to pay where she took off our meals, rightfully so! This place really seems to have gone down hill it's such a shame. i understand things are expensive prices have to be ajusted but I can't see how you expect people to be paying the same price for a much lower smaller quality. I won't risk coming back unfortunately and it's a shame. I also wish I got images to back up my review but it didn't even cross my mind whilst we were in there."

"Three of us came for dinner and had a range of different meals. The Sui Mai was lovely, the spring rolls had too much batter and the chicken satay was oily and wasn’t the best. The main courses were much better. We had Nasi Goreng Kampung (lovely if you suffer with spice! also the chicken rendang and Mee Goreng (which comes highly recommended if you like spice! I would recommend the noodle dishes and we saw the sweet and sour dishes being brought out, they looked and smelled amazing also! Drinks were very expensive but they have to make money somehow so understandable! The service was however poor, we were ushered in and sat down very abruptly and the staff were not very attentive. We also felt very rushed (even though we were well within our seating time that had been allowed to us . Overall I would come back again, but won’t bank on great service and will choose starters more wisely!"

"The staff and service were really great BUT unfortunately the food was not. The coated prawn starter was sad to say the least, the prawn substance was no more than 5 mm long. THE FISH CHIPS WAS BAD. YOU NO LONGER HAVE COD. Instead it was flat, all skin batter ONE STAFF CALLED IT HADDOCK, ANOTHER CALLER IT POLLOCK WHICH I BELIEVE BUT IN ANY CASE IT WAS DISGUSTING. I do not send food back to the kitchen for obvious unspeakable things that kitchen staff have been known to do to it. I do not know if other food on the menu have also been degraded, but I may never find out. A snippet for TRIPADVISOR I am sure. MR DEREK GUDE"

"Went there for dinner on Wednesday evening there was only one other table being used a dad and his two children . It was a banquet night for £14.95 for any starter excluding fish and prawn dishes any main except fish and prawn you pay £2.50 extra on starters for any of those dishes and £3.50 on mains,and any side dish and any rice or a naan each. I had a mixed starter and my wife had chicken chat both nice the mains she had mixed grill but it came with king prawns we don't know how many 1 or 2 but they wanted to charge me £3.50 for the dish just coming with a couple of prawns rather than a whole king prawn dish unbelievable but hey he said he would do it without king prawn so that's what she had expensive for what she got. I had a chicken tikka dansak it was ok not the best and we shared a mushroom rice and a keema naan which I sent back as there was no meat in it that I could see and all soggy and oily on top ,which they did a new one ,better. Pint of cobra each job done it was ok wouldn't go back even for their banquet night but try it for yourselves."
