"Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! I don't generally like writing bad comments about places but I felt the need to as I wouldn't want anyone else to experience such bad service as I did. I went just before 8pm and was told to oder online instead. I was told that the food would be ready within 15 mins even though the email said 25 mins. It gets to 8.30pm and I get told by the receptionist that they haven't started on my food yet as they are busy and that it would be another 10 mins. It gets to 8.45pm and she said oh they haven't started on your food yet. As anyone can imagine waiting nearly an hour is unacceptable especially when you have gone into order and collect! I decided by 9pm I had enough and wanted my refund, which then took another 30 mins to sort out. Absolutely shocking and unbelievable! A few other points to also mention: 1- The receptionists have 0 customer service experience and are very rude. 2- Another customer who had ordered online, called over the phone at least 3x times just to find out where their order was. They lied and said it was on the way when the order was just making its way out of the kitchen. Saddest part is that they were laughing about the customer in a very rude manner 3- Another customer came in and ordered 10 mins AFTER me and got his food within 15 mins or ordering! When I challenged them about it, they made up a pathetic excuse trying to say it was something else which didn't make sense. 4- Not even an apology. Poor customer service, and I would even go as far as to question the legality of their employees there, but that is a matter for the correct authorities to investigate. I would honestly Avoid this place and would not recommend it. Don't waste your time or money. There are lots of other honest, decent places."

"Having read the mostly positive reviews, we thought we’ll try this place. It’s obviously been here for decades, well before all the swanky new buildings that now surround it. It looks decidedly out of place. Parked in one of the nearby side streets after 6.30pm....The cafe is so dimly lit that it looks closed. The decor as you walk in is gloomy. It’s obviously not been updated since the cafe opened. There were candles on every table, and if these were removed the place would be absolutely insufferable. It also isn’t very clean. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. A visit to the toilet reminds one of a medieval dungeon. You have to negotiate some very steep and wet stairs, with almost no lighting, and then are met with the most basic of amenities in the ‘bathroom’. The waitress was positively surly. The food was disappointingly average. I am a regular at several Thai restaurants, and this was well below any of their standards. Prawn starters were bland. Beef satay was greasy. Squid curry had hardly any squid and absolutely no basil as was advertised on the menu. Prawn curry was ok, but had only 5 prawns in it. Portions are not generous, but just enough if you’re not very hungry. Corkage is ridiculous at £2.50 per person. They only accept cash, which again in this day and age is absurd. There are no cash points nearby, so he prepared. There’s also no signs telling you this, so it’s a bit embarrassing if you get caught out. One visit to this place is enough to tick it off the ‘hidden gem’ list. The dingy and dirty decor, average food, poor amenities and insistence of cash payments is enough to put off a second visit."

"Ordered 2x1 cocktail. We waited ages to be served despite staff members being available and another good 15 mins (maybe more) for them to be ready. We then asked the bar tenders (white guy, black guy and girl with long curly hair) where our drinks where and the girl rudely and with an attitude “THOSE ARE YOUR DRINKS” pointing at some drinks that were in front of another customer. Twice we asked “THESE?” as they did not look like the pic and again with an attitude she said “YES THOSE”. The 3 of them saw us taking the drinks, we went to our table and after a little while we hear the black guy and the curly hair girls SHOUTING at us from the counter “HEEEEELLLO. HEEEYY HELLLLOOO”. We looked around to understand what was happening as they were LOUD and again they SCREAMED at us in front of 30 ppl that we had taken the wrong drinks. We told the girl that we had taken what she pointed at and we had asked twice if she was sure. She said she never pointed at those drinks despite the 3 of them literally looking at us while taking the wrong drinks in our hands and walk to our table. She gave us the dirtiest look and staring at us dead in the eyes she said “BRING THOSE DRINKS BACK AND GET THESE”. All this in front of something like 30 ppl. She then keept on making comments about us as someone they were serving came to tell us when we left and we also saw her saying something to her colleagues to then look at us. No need to say we did not stay for seconds and will not be back. We were waiting for 3 other friends to all have a meal together but no need to say that as soon as we finished our drink and the 3rd person arrived, we left. Staff need to learn customer service and manners. The girl is very rude and has a disrespectful and disgusting attitude."

"I have really enjoyed visits to Wagamama over the years because of their friendly staff, quick service and decent food, but this experience at the Stratford branch has completely put me off ever returning. It was the most disappointing and frustrating experience I have had by far. No one came to take our order we had to get the attention of one of the waiters to do so, which proved difficult despite the Stratford branch having a very large number of staff (none of whom seem to want to do their job). It was another long wait before 1 dish arrived (almost half an hour). Then, it was another long wait with no drink or food coming out. We had to flag down one of the waiters to ask what was going on and if they could check on our order. Eventually, the drinks came and the remainder of the dishes, but when they arrived, they had got the order wrong and given us an extra starter. When we told them the order was wrong, the waitress said we could have it on the house. The food arrived lukewarm. Wagamama staff always talk about how all food is cooked fresh to order and each dish is brought out as soon as it’s ready, but it seemed like these dishes had been sitting on the side for a while. The standard of food at this Wagamama is worse than a lot of other branches I’ve been to, so I would avoid this one at all costs. When it came to paying the bill, we tried doing it using the QR code system, but the bill was wrong as they had charged us for the extra starter (which was supposed to be on the house). We had to ask a waiter to amend the bill. He went to the computer to make the change and said it had been amended. However when we checked again, there was no change. As we could not get the attention of another waiter, we had to go up to them at the till point to explain the situation again. The staff didn’t seem to be interested in serving their customers it was almost as if customers were a nuisance to them. There was also only 1 girl at the bar making up the drinks orders and doing so very slowly. On top of all of this, this branch seems to do a lot of business through online food delivery apps there was a constant stream of delivery drivers walking through the restaurant and standing around and hanging out next to the kitchen, scrolling on their phones which really spoils the ambience. The size of the kitchen and the number of chefs is too small to have all these takeaway orders being made as well as serving a full restaurant. The quality of the food and the service suffers terribly. I hope Wagamama management take note of this and work on a solution."
