"Slight delay in reviewing my evening but I seriously had no idea how to tackle it. This Grade II listed building and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and the banquet room where two rosette Le Dragon Rouge restaurant is together with well thought out menu...gives you an instant feeling of an extraordinary culinary experience about to happen. But unfortunately that’s not what happens next…. Firstly I’m not even sure if I have booked myself into Le Dragon Rouge, are there perhaps two different restaurants at the Chateau that I was not told about? Would definitely explain why my experience was so different from everything I read about it. Starters: Wild mushroom on toast, poached egg burnt bread/tasteless mushroom/badly poached egg Crevette Crispy Squid Chowder pretty much a bowl of sweet double cream with no seafood flavour Mains: Pan fried haddock, broccoli, peas, minted new potatoes, chive butter sauce first dish with a bit of a flavour, shame all I could taste was salt on a smallest fillet of haddock possibly found in the Irish Sea Cockle Smoked Mackerel baked paella, Laverbread butter, Parmesan chives sounded exciting on paper, ended up being a plate of lacking flavour rice Dessert: Coconut Lychee Cheesecake a bowl of runny mascarpone cheese with biscuit crumbles and few strawberries on top. Disappointment of the year! I really wish I could be more positive about my dining experience Chateau Rhianfa, especially that I’ve booked it as my birthday treat (absolutely no recognition from the restaurant staff) but unfortunately if you’re looking for fine dining please look elsewhere."

Absolutely gorgeous from the first bite to the last. Helpful friendly staff who clearly know the food they are serving. Comfortable, relaxed, almost homely, atmosphere, not too formal. Can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at Chateau and we decided to have our first meal there. We were lucky because Adam and Abi served us all evening. Hughe difference when the front house staff is trained and friendly! Food very nice and great selection of wines.

Very over rated. Average food at a very expensive cost. You can get better value and quality at nearby restaurants. Also one waiter on the evening brought us other peoples meals and the wrong dessert. For what you pay for the meals they should be...better trained.

We loved the food but we did not enjoy the evening as we were placed in a dining room which was small dark and dingy and with nobody else. I know it is a lovely Victorian building, but our dining room was full of dark...wood and horrid Victorian paintings of portraits of dogs in period costumes , just to add to the depressing lack of ambience. Guess it depends on your personal taste but sadly we did not enjoy it. Food was lovely, expensive and small and the various amuse bouches very delicious. Lamb was very very pink and we did ask for it be cooked a little more and this was no trouble for them and done with grace. The fish dish was delicious but sadly very little vegetables with anything.

I was a bit worried about how the food would go as we had seen some varying reports of the restaurant, but I can only assume that the chefs must have recently changed as our meals were absolutely fantastic. The staff definitely seemed a little...new, but everyone is new sometimes so this didn't bother us. Given we were staying at the hotel it didn't matter if things sometimes took a little longer, as we only had to go upstairs to reach our beds. The food itself was to die for. I could have paid as much in a nice restaurant in London for this food and still would have been happy with it. There was not a single fault in any of the food or wine we had. The normal restaurant room was closed (not...

First the good. The food that was served was decent. The choice was very limited. Only a set, TDH menu with basically, steak, fish or veg. And over priced for what was available. It's a long way from a fine dinning experience and it seems...the good chefs have left for other establishments. The restaurant feels like it's in a back room, with no view of the grounds or the waterfront and is rather tired, bordering on tatty rather than old world charm. The service was unusual despite an obvious management presence, too many little things wrong to list here but not what you expect from a hotel with pretensions of grandeur. It wasn't busy so no excuses for not having basics in place. Staff were p...

Visited here for my mums and dads wedding anniversary. We had the per person menu which included canapes, breads, starters, amuse bouche, mains, pre dessert and dessert which was wonderful value for money. The food was wonderful if slightly pretentious on the menu. I...had the pea and toffee soup to start with a small cheese and herb scone which was all delicious. The pre-starter artisan breads with soy butter were also delicious, very creamy and unique butter! The amuse bouche was a melon and apple soup. I had the hake with pasta, scallops, cockles and samphire for my main. It was all very nice although didnt feel like a dish that came together, just very nice individual items. My mum had t...
