Super food, super staff! We liked it so so much! We took venetian style liver and steak. Both were just delicious! House vine was great too.

We went back 3 times in a week! Lovely friendly team. Fish particularly good. Tourist menu well worth having. Excellent value. Definitely recommend. Breakfast pastries, good choice.

Excellent Pasta After I tried to find all day a place where they serve (gluten-free) pasta with mushrooms, cheese and truffles, I found by mistake Prebateo. This pasta I wanted wasn't in the menu, but the manager Francesco was kind enough to make them for me. I loved the place, the pasta was brilliant and the service the same.

Unfriendly waiter: I asked for a mint tea, got earl grey, and he came back with the box, saying it was mint tea because there was a picture of a cup with a mint leaf on it. The whole restaurant went silent, which was quite embarrassing. The desserts were clearly not homemade: very cold tiramisu, very dry chocolate cake. Do not recommend at all!

We found this little gem the first night we arrived. Ignore the bad reviews. The service is more personal than other restaurants that want to get you in and out. We liked it so much we returned before we left. We had the carbonara and pizza first visit and the gnocchi and lasagna the second. Both to a good standard. Great value for money. A lot cheaper than eating on the square. Highly recommend

My family and I were in Venice for 3 nights and happened to run into PreBateo on the second night just because we were looking for some dessert and drinks. We discovered a hidden gem! This restaurant is owned and operated by two brothers for 40 years, raised in Venice. If you see one of them, be prepared for a good time! They make the drinks strong and don’t let you go home without having a good time first! We came back the next night and it was just as good as the first!

I wonder has the restaurant changed ownership since the poor reviews because my family and I had a wonderful experience at Pre Bateo. We loved it so much that we visited 3 times during our trip! The waiting staff/owners were so friendly and obliging and the food was delicious and very reasonable. We had beautiful grilled fish, seafood spaghetti, gnocchi, lasagne and pizza. We ate at several restaurants with higher ratings during our trip which weren't a patch on this one.

This small, welcoming restaurant was a highlight of our 5-night stay in Venice. It is in a part of Venice that is close to the main tourist areas of San Marco and the Riva, but with a relaxed local vibe. We adopted it as our local coffee house and also enjoyed an evening meal and drinks there. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We loved the friendly staff. This restaurant is under new management (apparently since May 2021), so ignore previous reviews. We would definitely go back!
