"POOR SERVICE...POOR FOOD We visited the pub on 13/09/23 to have what we highly expected would be quality meals and excellent service. All 5 of us came to the view....we had nothing but POOR quality, overcooked, and substandard meals. TWO meals were so poorly cooked and presented, the waitress agreed to discard them. Prawn cocktails were served with a few lettuce looking like they had passed sell-by date. A few prawns wuth a dash of sauce were placed on top with a slice of lemon. That was it. We did not eat more than a morsel! No cutlery were provided. We were given large forks when we asked for prawn cocktail cutlery. One meal we asked for No raw onions because of likely allergic reactions....we were served onions! Jacket potatoe, tuna and cheeses .The tiny bits of tuna was plastered with sauce and definitely not how quality Jacket potato is normally served. No customer service enquiry about whether we enjoyed the meals or had any concerns. However, after we pointed out the poor quality of the foods, two of the meals and 2 drinks were taken off the final bill of £101. The toilets were filthy, inadequately stocked and unkempt. The conservatory dining area had poor ventilation. We asked for the doors leading to the garden to be opened. A pub not recommended based on our poor experience and poor quality service."

"I initially gave this charming old pub a glowing review, but after my partner and I visited about three weeks ago, my opinion has changed. We were looking forward to a great meal, but my partner's eggs royale on a muffin was inedible; the muffin was hard and stale, and the hollandaise sauce was unpleasant and hard to describe. My Chicken Satay skewers were also disappointing; the chicken was overcooked and tough, and the peanut sauce lacked flavor. We really enjoy our food, but we couldn't bring ourselves to eat what was served to us. It was particularly disheartening because we had previously had a good experience there. We learned that the original staff had left and the place was now run by new people, including a new chef. After voicing our concerns, we were only charged for one starter and two drinks. Given our latest experience, we cannot recommend this place, as you would likely be disappointed unless they improve their standards. We couldn't help but notice the nearly empty parking lot during lunch, and now we understand why. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1"

"This is one of my favourite cafés. We often walk the 2 miles there as the welcome and the food are worth it. You can sit outside in the courtyard surrounded by topiary hedges and shaded by large canopy type shelters. Alternately there is room inside this stone built traditional victorian railway station masters house. The broccoli and stilton soup is just the best. They also run pizza nights with a range of foods. There is a pizza oven which is lit early afternoon so it is ready for the evening. For a simple coffee for the train traveller to a full meal, I can't recommend this enough. The individual that gave 1 star because they couldn't contact the cafe is unkind and this isn't justified. This is a family run business and unfortunately for customers, the owners need a holiday. Opening times are on the web site."

"I hate to leave bad reviews but sometimes it can offer management feedback to rectify certain areas. We had booked prior and our table was ready however when 15 of us arrived it was a good 5/10 minutes stood at the bar (3 staff) before we were even acknowledged!!Waitresses I will say were very friendly polite and professional. 10 of our party had chosen the carvery. Which was priced accordingly and worth it’s price but very very bland????When the other 5 dinners turned up it was infact only 4 as 1 had been forgotten!!! They had to wait another 10 minutes by then everyone had finished. Apologies were made and the meal wasn’t charged.The main menu meals were just average, but the worst of all was the cremated mushrooms in the bowl of sweet potato fries!!!! I pointed out to the waitress that perhaps the chef may consider changing his oil???? I’m afraid we would probably not return"
