"This was my second trip to Shahi Karachi for lunch Monday). Last time 9 months) It was a good budget lunch meal which I would have rated 4 star) when I accompanied a friend who spoke Urdu. This time I ordered a whole roast baby chicken for lunch £5.99)on the bone re-heated on charcoal and was cut into four pieces. however this time I could find 2 legs, one chicken breast with its breast bone and one chicken breast bone without its chicken breast fillet. So I queried the waiter and asked what happened to the other chicken breast fillet as a chicken has 2 legs and 2 breast pieces when quartered. I laid the chicken quarters on its plate and I showed a waiter how one chicken breast has an inch thick breast meat on the bone but the other breast piece just has the rib cage bone but no breast fillet attached! This waiter assured me that the meat was there when the plate was clearly showing two chicken legs, one breast fillet on bone and the other was just the flat chicken rib cage! So I called the boss to come to have a look at the two breasts. I was lost for words when he confirmed everything was there and reasoned that the look was due to the way it was cut! Having lost for words I decided to cut my losses and proceed to eat in this lunch hour. The chicken meat itself was overnight roast chicken on spit)left over from Saturday or Sunday reheated on charcoal so it was dry and cardboardy. After paying the bill in full, as I walked out I explained to another shop worker that I was disappointed that a quarter part of the chicken was missing. He was the guy that charcoal 'ed the baby chicken in the front. He too also said the whole chicken was there. Anyway there is no need to get too stressed up over a chicken breast as this will be my last meal here since neither there is quantity nor quality. Maybe the chicken has had breast surgery at the Royal Free Hospital nearby? Maybe the missing fillet went to another tray , who knows but it was sure not on my plate! I also ate a lamb tikka. The lamb tikka £4)was tough, dry and sinewy 3 chunks of lamb)and had the chewy factor and mosture content very similar to overnight cooked lamb reheated. It was so unlike how I expected it succulent when freshly charcoal 'ed) because it was raw lamb on a skewer when I picked this from their cabinet. The nan bread was fabulous as it was fresh dough in a clay oven freshly baked to order. I suspected that the spit roast chickens would taste better at the weekend when the restaurant is busier. But on Monday I believed we were eating the left over from the weekend... so not very nice to have dried left over spit roast to be re-heated again on a charcoal grill."
