"When we first saw that the vegetarian Sunday lunch option was 'Nutloaf,' we were not very excited. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the meal was. The roasties and mixed vegetables were excellent. Some of us even had dessert, with Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Sponge Pudding both served with custard. Our bellies were full and satisfied. We also enjoyed the Mango Cider, which we highly recommend. If we were in Watchet for another week, we would definitely come back to this restaurant. We suggest booking an early sitting to ensure you get your choice of meat options. The service was great, with a hardworking waitress/bar person who made sure everyone was taken care of. My husband was thrilled to discover they have a petanque piste, and he plans to spend some time playing boule there."

Disappointing considering the reviews. Limited menu so we opted for fish and chips which was poor. Nice clean pub and friendly staff but will not be returning.

Walked from Washford to Watchet and stopped for lunch at The Star. Friendly service in this quaint pub which does great food. I had the burger and my wife had crab cakes with a portion of fries. All cooked fresh. Dog friendly.

My friends and I were on vacation in Watchet for the week. We went to The Star four times for drinks and three times for meals. Jason is a wonderful host, very funny and organized. The food and drinks were fantastic. We will definitely be returning next year. Thank you.

Visited while on holiday in Watchet. Cosy welcoming pub, very friendly barmaid. We both had staters Whitebait and garlic mushrooms, both of which were very tasty and large portions. For mains we had Mixed grill and chicken burger, again huge portions, my mixed grill was superb. Would definitely recommend this pub

Went for a meal on the last night of our short break in Watchet. Nice warm cosy atmosphere in the pub, friendly and helpful staff, good range of drinks. We chose the seafood sharing platter from the starter menu which was delicious and plenty for the two of us. Would definitely return when we are next in the area.

Monday 11th sept stopped off at Watchet for lunch, the place was lovely and clean, food presented well, they had trouble with a fryer, so fish was oven cooked, still delicious and healthier without batter, so no complaints. Enjoyed with a great glass of Pinot. Staff very pleasant. Would defo visit again when in the area.

Popped in for lunch mid week but kitchen was closed but the staff made us feel very welcome and we liked the ambiance of the pub so we decided to book Sunday lunch. On the menu it says beef served pink but if you ask they will cook it to your preference ie if like me very well cooked so don’t let the menu put you off. Lunch was beautiful meat lovely and soft especially liked the Thatchers cider stuffing.

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
