"The Bailey Head is the local area's CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) pub of the year, and we were both very impressed with the quality, range, and taste of the beers on offer. We enjoyed a drink of Black Iris Myld Stallyns, a dark mild, which was in beautiful condition and cost £3.90. The pub is comfortable, with a large L-shaped space wrapped around the bar divided into smaller zones by interior beams. The staff behind the bar were friendly and informative, and we ended up chatting with another customer. My wife, who uses a wheeled walking aid, found the access around the building to be very easy, and the seating was comfortable. The electronic beer list is displayed on screens in the pub and can also be seen on the Untapped website. It's important to note that some of the draught ales are Key Keg, but they have a wide range of hand-pulled real ales. Overall, it is a great real ale establishment that comes highly recommended. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future."

Amazing cocktails and friendly landlord. I would recommend to anyone staying in town. The staff know their stuff about anything booze related. Pleasant atmosphere and music

This pub is fantastic, offering a unique selection of well-maintained cask beers. The owners, both the Landlady and Landlord, were incredibly welcoming and friendly, exceeding our expectations in helping us during our visit.

Quite simply, the best real ale pub around and I have tried a few! A great selection of ales that change regularly and that are kept immaculately. I tend to potter in after a walk in the hills and this is always a welcome highlight. Incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff too.

I stopped by the restaurant to check it out and found that the atmosphere was great. It felt like a traditional pub with a decent number of customers. Unfortunately, the people at the pub next door were rude and arrogant. I wasn't able to stay for long, but it seemed like a nice place overall. Speisekarte ansehen

Johnny the barkeep was so helpful amazing knowledge and within a few questions recommended some great beers. Very knowledgeable and helpful. If you like proper beer this place is a must. Nice relaxing atmosphere and you will be in the hands of a proper pro. Unheralded choice of top notch brews

Great atmosphere. Extensive selection of beer. The owners gracie and Duncan along with their staff (special hat tip to Johnny) make everyone feel at home. This pub has become my port in the storm since temporarily moving to Oswestry for family reasons. You simply must visit here if you're in the area

What you call a great local pub . . . real ales, and no sport on television ! Sadly it no longer does food, but there are plenty of local restaurants. It is NOT over crowded, but there were lots of locals enjoying their evening pints. Staff were pleasant, and the owners very friendly. Closed on a Monday, but we went there every other night for the week we were there. Speisekarte ansehen

Good vibes and a finely tuned atmosphere of 50s rock and roll music, old worldy building and knowledgeable guy on the bar who knew his beer and gin. We even had a tour of the mass of guest beers that are all pinned on the ceiling, apparently several hundred a year which says it all about this pub. This was a stop by on the way from Cardiff back to Manchester but we will return purely for the host (Tom? Jon? , friendly people and how purely comfortable we were made to feel and we might even bring Jake! (Our dog The local amber bitter is apparently on all the time and I recommend it along side their 200 million gins

Wow, where do I start, thought I'd try a nice range of ales by ordering halves not problem says the chap behind the bar, what types do you like? This took us on a magical journey of new ales through a lovely evening. Mmmm I'm a bit hungry I said to the landlord...ah he says, we don't do food but I can recommend the pizza place and the Chinese next door...went for the Chinese...as they delivered food the landlord delivered plates, knives and forks (all fully recyclable I checked ha ha). A pro tip this pub takes customer experience very seriously, take a few minutes (you'll need them) to peruse all the awards and certificates on they way in.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
