The wife and i entered the pub and received a lovely warm welcome from Clive. We find this type of welcome very rare these days when entering pubs, restaurants etc. It meant a lot to both of us and he is a credit to the place. Keep up the good work, Clive. We will certainly be returning.

This is a great combination of a traditional British pub (multiple houses fused together in a rabbit warren of stairs and exposed timber) and real, good Belgian beer in bottles and on draught (and the right glasses). There's space for big groups (probably as big as 30 with pre-booking) as well as more intimate tables.

Wow. I thought I had gone to Brugges six weeks early. This really has the correct atmosphere, beer range and ambience to have been an authentic Belgian bar. Two flights and some superb draft beer, authentic decor plus excellent food menu all combined to make this a very pleasant afternoon visit. If only there were more like this in Kent

We made a reservation for a large group so they had us order our meals ahead-of-time. When we got there, the things I had ordered weren’t available anymore. I thought the food was just ok, but the rest of my family loved what they ordered. Recommendations: tartiflette, fish chips, waffle desserts The service was good, excellent beer selection.

Been to the Belgian Monk several times over the last few years, but it seams to be going downhill, the food was not as good as it used to be and I have got to say a couple of the staff looked like they did not want to be there and made us feel very unwelcome. For that reason I doubt I will go back or recommend the place anymore. Shame as it used to be a nice place warm and welcoming….

Have been frequent visitors , normally very happy, This time however words cannot express my disappointment, Food appalling, service was dismal. Ask if they had changed management or chief in the last 6 months? Was told YES. By a male human who said he was the opps manager, would like to tell you his name but HE! felt he was to important to tell me his name! and just walked off mid conversation, Likely to say we will not be going back.

Located in a charming historic building in the Lanes area of Norwich, this pub offers an upstairs dining area and an outside courtyard. We opted for seating at the bar in the main pub area, where they specialize in Belgian beers. My partner ordered a draft Koninck beer, a favorite of his from Antwerp, but unfortunately it was a disappointment compared to what he's had before. Seeing this, I decided to go with a glass of red wine instead.

We were lucky to secure a table in the outdoor seating area on a pleasant evening. The restaurant was bustling with activity. I appreciated the fact that they donate a portion of their mussel sales to a local charity. The menu has been updated and is now more sophisticated and easier to understand. The mussels were excellent. My husband enjoyed the perfectly cooked liver and bacon, a dish he doesn't typically have at home. The desserts were a bit expensive but very tasty.

I have been dining at The Belgian Monk for years and it has always been excellent, but lately it has gone downhill. We went on a Saturday evening and our waiter was very pleasant, although we did not catch his name. My mussels were good, but the fries have deteriorated in quality and now taste cheap. My partner ordered a tartiflette with three types of sausage, but it was mainly potato and lacking in flavor, with only one type of sausage. However, the condition of the toilets was appalling - broken flush, toilet paper holder, dirty sink, and overall very unclean. We will not be returning.
