The service was also lacking, as we were a table of 10 and our plates were not cleared throughout our meal. We ended up stacking them ourselves on another table, where they stayed until we finished dessert and left. Despite this, we have dined here many times as it is our local restaurant, and hope that the subpar service was just a one-time issue on New Year's Day.

I rated the Pub five stars overall, but only one star for the car park. Typically, I use the lower entrance to enter, but when I attempted to exit from the upper end, I discovered it was obstructed by cars parked on the opposite side of the narrow road. I recommend closing off this entrance, as it is not feasible for guests trying to leave the car park. This issue is absurd!

What a difference a leader makes! We recently had a very poor experience at The Bowl and after exchanging a few emails with the pub, it seemed aa though all hope of any hospitality had been lost. Completely lost, until we were called by the new General Manager. He had seen the emails and decided to reach out and apologise, he didn’t need to give us anything for free. Well... I can't fault this establishment at all. Stayed for two nights for business purposes. Excellent, cosy, warm and inviting bedrooms. The food was outstanding and such an amazing choice of food available. It's a very affluent area but the locals are very down to earth and friendly. The bar staff, manager, house keepers, waitresses are all amazing. It's a 5* from me and I would recommend to anyone. Thank you for an outstanding stay. Rachael and Lucy Berry

Had lunch here for the first time today and had the best fish and chips I’ve had for a very long time. The batter was light and crispy and the chips I chose the skin on fries) were perfectly cooked. It was also nice that I could opt for a smaller portion. My husband had the steak and ale pie and was more than happy excellent quality meat in the pie and plenty of it. The service was a little slow but the meal definitely worth the wait. As Butcome loyalty card members we also got 25% off win win! Will definitely be back!

This is an update to my previous review. The problems from our previous visit remain factual but at least the manager reached out and tried to make amends so we returned and discussed the issues. Pricing is set by the chain it seems so the ridiculous pricing remains an issue as can be seen by many other reviews. The problem on communication seems to emanate from the bookings side of the chain not the hotel itself. This was evident when we booked (once we booked direct with the hotel, it was perfect) and again when we emailed them. In short, room and breakfast good, drink pricing still outrageous. My partner and I dine out regularly and I can honestly say that last nights experience was the worst in a very long time. Staff were wandering around with their hands in their pockets while we waited to order. Eventually we ordered and the drinks and starters came, that was fine. 45 minutes later no main course, so I called over a staff member to ask, he went into the kitchen and returned to us to say “sorry, we have no more risotto”, we had both ordered steak! 10 minutes later 2 steaks arrived, my medium was underdone, very rare with blood all over the plate, my partner’s rare looked cooked correctly but also blood all over the plate, both were stone cold. I haven’t been here for a while but visited the Bowl for lunch with a visiting friend. Good amount of free parking, though we had fun with the touch screen car registration inside the pub, and a warm welcome. Loved our table as I’m partially deaf so it was great to be in a quieter section of the restaurant. The food was hot, well presented and most importantly, delicious! I would DEFINITELY have the fish cake starter again!!! The fish chips portion was HUGE, and both were beautifully crispy fluffy on the inside. My family and I visited the Bowl Inn last Saturday (2nd December) as a meeting point to exchange Christmas gifts. We live in Cornwall and my sister's family lives near Manchester. The food was delicious, and the server who took our order was friendly. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It seemed like the pub may have been understaffed, which made it difficult to keep up with everything.
