"This place was always excellent before Covid arrived. Now, as cafés and restaurants open up carefully, this café is still not allowing customers inside. Even with necessary social distancing, there is sufficient room for 6 tables with 4 chairs at each. We sat outside on the ample lawn on a beautiful summers morning. However, as the weather closes in, they will need to allow customers in. They also, like most other restaurants, have a reduced menu. I understand that as there are usually items on the menu that don’t sell well and end up being thrown away. What I can’t understand is how the ‘All day breakfast’ can not be included as at most cafés, this is one of the most popular dishes. I was able to order eggs, bacon and beans on toast in a takeaway container with plastic knife and fork which no matter how you look at it, is not the same as a full breakfast including sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms etc on a real plate with metal knives and forks. I fully understand they are trying to be careful and for that I am most grateful. I returned my used tray that was not soiled in any way, and still the girl was straight onto sanitising it so full marks there. As always, the staff were polite and very friendly and the food was good. What I can’t understand is how other restaurants are opening with normal cutlery and crockery, how this café feels the need to be different. If the management do read these reviews, my suggestion is, don’t shoot yourselves in the foot. Your staff are clearly very careful to maintain high hygiene levels and like me, I’m sure people would trust you. Open the café fully as soon as possible, installing the necessary covers to maintain social distancing. I hope to be back really soon."

The service like the cleanliness of the cafe is excellent but the coffee leaves something to be desired. The banana cake was top notch with a strong banana taste and was very moist and fresh.

The people who work at the Coffee Shop as so helpful and polite I just wish the coffee was hotter. This is not the first time I have mentioned it and several friends who also cycle and have visited have also said the coffee is only lukewarm sometimes. I just hope that on my next visit things have improved.

This charming coffee shop is located just off the M11 in a beautiful rural setting with ample outdoor seating for when the weather is pleasant. The staff is welcoming, the menu offers a variety of delicious options at affordable prices, and they also provide options for Gluten Free diets. Additionally, the shop is dog-friendly.

Disappointing breakfast here with my daughter and cannot understand why this place has four and a half blobs/stars. Bacon cold. Poor sausage reheated. Hard yoke on fried egg. Horrible cheap white cut bread. I could go on. The test for me is would I return. The answer is a definite NO. One friendly member of staff. Another was so unfriendly. Don’t expect this. Not recommended.

During our stay at the Novotel, we opted not to have breakfast there for £11.95 pre-booked or £17.95 on the morning. Instead, we checked out TripAdvisor and discovered a hidden gem in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed a fantastic breakfast with two coffees each, all at a much lower cost than the Novotel. Despite a few cyclists stopping by on this lovely day to dine outdoors, the service was prompt. Highly recommend this place.

The Thremhall Park Cafe is a regular stop for my cycling group. There's always a friendly welcome and a good range of light refreshments whether its sandwiches, cake or other freshly prepared food. I've always enjoyed the coffee they serve, and its a good cup of tea as well.Their covid-secure steps are very good, its take-away style service at the moment and there's plenty of seating on the lawn right opposite the entrance to the cafe.

Wow, this place is a hidden gem! Located on a business park that sits on the site of an old priory and a beautifully restored Manor House, it is surrounded by lush greenery and offers plenty of space to relax or for the kids to play. I enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast that was cooked to perfection and served quickly. The prices were very reasonable. Although they are only open for breakfast and lunch, the salads and cakes on offer looked tempting.

The location is wonderful and this Sunday we counted 23 bikes parked up. Due to such a massive influx of riders the service was slow as the staff numbers were somewhat limited. However, this doesn't excuse the same disappointment that we had a few visits ago that when the coffee was served up it was not hot enough. This really isn't good enough and it was only because they were so busy we didn't complain. Chatting to other cyclists who are regular visitors, they also thought the coffee was often a hit or miss affair.

"We have lived in Dunmow for 25 years and have always visited this pub through its various ownerships. We had not been for a while, until after I had a life saving major heart operation last year and this was the first place we chose to go for breakfast when I came out of hospital. We have continued to go since then on a regular basis and it never fails to satisfy. We have always been served by Lorraine since the first day we went and she has been fantastic. Last weekend was a year since I had the operation and we chose to go back for a small family meal to celebrate the success of the day. Well what can I say, my wife had other ideas and with the help of Lorraine she organised a surprise gathering of family and friends in a cordoned off part of the marquee with buffet. What made it even more special was that they don't normally do a buffet on a Sunday as it is normally roast dinner only. After Lorraine explained to her manager the importance of the day she was more than happy to help make the day happen. For this I am really grateful, and despite not getting the steak dinner I thought I was having it was so much better. Thank you to everyone involved as I know the organisation for this on a day you would not normally do it would have been a challenge. We will continue to go for breakfast whenever we can and hope that Lorraine is always there."

"The Green Man at Linsell is a charming pub located off the beaten path that almost meets expectations. The pub's decor is lovely and you'll receive a warm welcome from the attentive front-of-house team. It's a step up from your typical pub, with white tablecloths and napkins that elevate the Sunday lunch experience. Getting there may require navigating through narrow single-track roads with the help of a somewhat confusing satnav, but there is ample parking available once you arrive. The drink selection is standard pub fare, though the wine list appears reasonable. For our meal, we both opted for the beef Sunday roast. While everything was cooked well, the dishes lacked seasoning and punch to truly elevate the flavors. One dish that stood out was a broccoli cheese concoction that seemed odd and wasn't to our taste. For dessert, we tried the crumble and brownie bake. The crumble, advertised as apple and blackberry or blackcurrant, felt lacking in the black element, resulting in what appeared to be a purple apple crumble. Despite these drawbacks, we cleaned our plates and left feeling satisfied and ready for a post-meal walk with our dog. The bill came to £30 per person, drinks included, making it a reasonably priced Sunday lunch option. Overall, The Green Man at Linsell is worth a visit for a leisurely lunch in a pleasant setting."
