"We understood that we could have the roast up until 7pm on 31st December when the special Hogmany menu would then be served. We booked for 6pm and were looking forward to a roast dinner then were told they finished at 5pm. Felt disappointed. My friend ordered fish and chips for her main course and was later sick because it was very greasy. Have eaten at the Hawes Inn quite a few times and don't think food was up to scratch that night. I think everyone was preparing for for the evening. Maybe they shouldn't have taken booking so late."

Lovely roast; good value in nice surroundings. Only gripe was that service was efficient but lacked warmth and finesse. Staff could make you feel more welcome!

Would recommend if you’re in the area. Lovely setting near the bridges. Most of the food was very good but the burger and burger bun were heavily charred from the grill.

We asked to add two more people to our booking and were accommodated without fuss. In spite of being very busy, the service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their food.

fantastic meal in the hawes inn. eating was well presented and really delicious. the waiting staff was very friendly and attentive. overall a very pleasant meal in an amazing historical building with truly breathtaking view.

on Sunday roast. there was an event in the city so that the place heaving and quite loud. but the service was notch. we were disappointed that they could only serve the well-made bark. I haven't experienced that yet. instead, we decided for the lamb that was delicious. large part of the veg. yorkshire has nothing to write home. we went back, but probably not on a Sunday.

Original welcome wasn't the best when we entered we were told straight away that only bookings were being accepted. Instead of asking if we had booked. We were also asked what our name was when the person already knew it. Our actual server was very nice tho. The decor where we were seated was a bit tired and could do with freshening up. The food was fine however disappointing that there was no sticky toffee pudding and according to our server they hadn't had it for a few days so why was it still on the menu.
