Hen Chicken - Speisekarte

I have been a few times recently and love this place. The food is good, friendly service and good choice of beers. They often have events on such as Jazz nights in a room at the back on thursdays.

Attended for an event upstairs. Good levels of staff so quick service getting drinks and pizza smelled delightful. Looks like they hired more staff and got better service compared to previous reviews!

The bar staff are the slowest I have ever encountered. One appears just to stand around doing nothing. I visit weekly to see a concert. 2 weeks out of 3, I give up waiting to be served and so don't buy a drink. Speisekarte ansehen

Came here with my boyfriend and dog for some food after work one evening. The staff were very friendly and provided quick service. The pub is very dog friendly and had a great atmosphere. We ordered a pizza and loaded fries to share and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming back to the Hen and and Chicken again!

We held our works Christmas meal at the Hen and Chicken on 2/12/22, we hired the Chicken Shed private room. The food was fantastic, I received comments that this was the best food we'd had at a Xmas meal. All the staff were friendly and very polite and helpful. We will definitely be booking again! Went in for a couple of drinks on Saturday evening. The pub was near half full but it was easy to stand at the bar and achieve what you think was fairly straight forward service for a drink. Stood there got 10 minutes whilst bar staff and one who I believe was the manager stood at the end of the bar, chatting and playing on the mobile phones without even acknowledging any of the waiting customers. I’ve had an up and down relationship with this place for years. Today was the worst. The staff were serving who they liked the look of, and all congregating at one end of the bar like it was a social occasion, and not work. It’s always a great feeling to be stood at the bar for 5 mins only for one of the clique to stand beside you and get served first. Not sure how I managed to hold my tongue. The owner needs to be onsite more to take control of this behaviour that has made us walk out and pop to The Malago instead.

We were out for a friend's birthday and went into this pub for a drink after dinner and it was awful. We stood at the bar getting ignored by the staff. They were too busy chatting and one staff member served others then lay her head down at the end of the bar chatting to another staff member after seeing we were there. We had heard they were bad in there for service but it wasn't the lack of care that bothered us but the overall attitude. The young girl eventually served us after we asked and she had a really bad attitude while serving us. No smile..no eye contact and just generally horrible. It's got a rep for being awful on service and I can see why. Won't be going again.

I am not one usually inclined to write reviews, but I felt I had to do so after the great experience I recently had when I came to the Hen and Chicken with some friends for food and drinks. The pub itself has a great buzz/atmosphere where the staff were very friendly and attentive. I find a lot of pubs nowadays lack this, but the Hen and Chicken certainly doesn’t! We all really liked the selection of local beers that were available at the bar. I would recommend the “Wanna Go To The Sun” pale ale. The food menu offered a good variety of dishes, I ordered the squid, a margarita pizza from the dedicated pizza oven and loaded pulled pork fries.
