"Unfriendly greeting. Table not ready for booked time and had to keep chasing whether table was ready waiting 20 mins eventually. Then took further hour for starters to be served and further hour waiting for main course. Roast beef was ok but looked as if it had been thrown on the plate and quality of potatoes, vegetables poor. Yorkshire puddings were flat and only slightly warm. If the restaurant cannot cope with busy periods on busy days they shouldn't book so many people in. It was quite clear they couldn't cope. At least our waiter was polite, friendly and helpful."

I was pleased that I could get a small meal . Most pubs do not offer this and as an elderly customer I usually end up leaving food on my plate. Well done.

Second time I’ve used Open Table to book The Hillside Inn , to find out they don’t have our booking. Fortunately they have found us table but how do they put that correct? It makes you feel you haven’t booked until they can see the booking on my phone.

The Hillside Inn is a lovely spot for enjoying a meal with friends and family. The menu is thoughtfully designed, and the service is both attentive and friendly. The spacious open fireplace, which overlooks the bar, adds warmth and a charming ambiance to the dining experience.

We often eat at the Hillside Inn. The food is reasonable and service is always excellent. On this occasion I booked through Open Table and although I received confirmation of the booking, the restaurant was full and had not received my booking. The staff were very helpful and fortunately managed to find us a table. Moral book direct which I normally do.

I am a frequent visitor, but my experience today was disappointing. Both of my lattes were lukewarm, and the pâté did not pair well with the chutney. My friend's steak sandwich was served cold and lacked flavor. On a positive note, the customer service was excellent; they removed the steak from our bill. Overall, I left feeling quite disappointed today.
