"We opted for takeout because the restaurant was busy. We don't usually eat here often because it's quite expensive, but we have always enjoyed the food in the past. Unfortunately, this time we were very disappointed. The diced chicken in the korma was large chunks of meat and the portion was stingy. The rice was good, but the garlic naan bread was overcooked and soggy. I was expecting better quality for the price. Maybe they don't put as much effort into takeaway orders. We will not be coming back."

"Haven’t been here for many years so wanted to try it out again after seeing good reviews. My husband and I had originally booked for our anniversary dinner but ended up eating out at lunch that day instead so changed the booking for my birthday meal with our sons a few days later. Not sorry we didn’t go for anniversary as ambiance was very lacking. Lights were very bright and did not feel in the least romantic. Which really surprised me. But food was mostly very nice. Service was good and attentive. The starters were good, whitebait, bruschetta, and prawns in a chilli tomato sauce being the favourites. I had the Avocado Mamma Mia which was ok but very heavy on the Avocado compared to the small amount of prawns and smoked salmon. Out of the four main meals, the two pasta dishes were the least enjoyed due to ‘lack of flavour’ but I enjoyed the fillet of beef medallions in peppercorn sauce and one of my sons enjoyed his risotto then finished off Dad’s leftover seafood pasta. Desserts were lovely. Profiteroles, honeycomb cheesecake and vanilla gelato. No complaints there! I didn’t see the bill but I imagine it wasn’t cheap. We had one bottle of Pinot and I had a glass of the delicious dessert wine. Other than that we all just drank water which may have kept the price down just a little. Overall a nice evening was had. Would I rush back? Probably not anytime very soon as there are other places I’d like to try. But I’m glad we gave it a go."

"This is the best pizza we’ve had in a long time and possibly ever! We ordered the Sorriso and Seafood pizzas, both had ample toppings and were full of flavour. Excellent friendly customer service and pizzas were ready and cooked fresh in 10 minutes. I never leave reviews but this Italian thoroughly deserves it, on the basis of their pizza alone. We will be back again in the future 5* Service: Take out"

"There is no doubt this pub/restaurant will greatly appeal to the vast majority of people. It has been extremely well refurbished in line with current tastes and has a friendly atmosphere. I'm sure I'm in the minority by saying I would prefer to enter the pub, go straight to the bar and order a drink without being greeted at the entrance, with the assumption I've booked, or wish to book for a meal. However, I do appreciate this a now a common practice and seen as part of the welcome. It's good to see the New Inn has retained a comfortable area for drinkers which many establishments of this type don't do. Also wonderful to see Ben back behind the bar! The food looks good, although we have only had lunch here. It's great to find such a varied lunch menu but I'd rather the sandwiches, baguettes and wraps didn't automatically come with fries maybe a small side salad could be an alternative. Having said that, the crispy duck wrap is wonderful! A personal niggle I found the the piped music outside to be intrusive and unnecessary. I'm not aware of any other local pubs that impose this. The owners have clearly done a great job, though, hopefully establishing a very successful business in trying times for hospitality."

"Visiting family in Basingstoke, stopped off for a bite to eat. Lovely area outside, but it was a day of sunshine and showers so opted to sit inside. Wasn’t impressed with the weeds growing around the front of the pub, looked tired and unloved. Far...different from their displayed photo. Sure,y during Covid someone could have put in a few plants to brighten the place up. First impressions count a lot! Ordered double egg, ham and chips twice. When the waitress bought it, the ham was pale and the eggs were over cooked, not the runny yolks that we could dip our chips into, maybe they had been left on the hot plate too long, The meal sadly lacked presentation and to be honest it looked insipid, but surprisingly it tasted very nice, the ham was really tasty, Take note: Whoever plates the meals, please could I ask them to put half a tomato on the plate, it needed something to tempt the eye, a little colour costs only pennies. Waitress was lovely, very friendly and helpful."
