"I had a disappointing experience at The Lion in Wendlebury. After a day of exploring Blenheim Palace, my family and I decided to have a late lunch at the restaurant. We arrived around 7:30, hoping to enjoy some starters. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by rude and unprofessional service. The restaurant was not busy, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and rushed. One staff member was particularly disrespectful towards a female bartender, making offensive remarks about her gender. Overall, I would not recommend dining at The Lion and suggest finding another restaurant with better service."

I went there with my daughters, one is gluten free and the other has allergies to dairy, eggs and peanuts. The staff were very helpful, one of the most helpful places we have been to. Thank you for all your help. Also, the food was delicious.

Great beer (serves Shipyard), wine (esp Shiraz Rioja), food (burgers, fish chips, steak ribs all yummy), welcoming management staff, relaxed social atmosphere (depending on the day) and decor is well done. Taxi from Bicester approx £5-9. Well worth it

last night went to lion for the first time in wendlebury and it was amazing. all the staff were so friendly and the whole place looked great. it is a bit more expensive then some places, but if that is eating that is good that cares. very slow service, we did not get anything to eat for an hour and had to go to the bar to get coffees at the end of the meal. this was a great lunch venue until changing hands, used to have two courses for a good price, now the choice is sandwiches or a la carte main menu so expensive for lunch. Very disappointed

The Lion has been taken over by new owners who are not yet connected to Open Table. I only found out about this when I called to confirm our reservation, which would not have been recognized otherwise. Additionally, I learned that the restaurant is scheduled to undergo renovations in early February, so I have decided to wait to visit until after the refurbishment.
