A wonderful Friday fish and chip supper, great, food, service and atmosphere in this charming pub.i can't recommend it highly enough.

Ate here with a friend a week ago. The meal was excellent and the service relaxed but impeccable. Chef/ landlord exceptionally concerned to accommodate my friend who has tricky dietary needs.

Had the pleasure of staying here yes I have actually visited to attend a friends party .lovely place and well recommended.It's a shame keyboard warriors have tried to bring the reputation down Speisekarte ansehen

Fantastic lunch with my good friend of 52 years from school. He lives Chicago now but distance is no barrier, fantastic food and the landlord parked the car for me. It doesn't get better than that.

We had lunch here after a lovely walk with our pooch. The pub has a real old charm and oozes character. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The menu is varied, catering for a range of eating styles. We both had the burger, the patty and sauce were exceptional.

My son took me to The Lower Red Lion for Sunday Roast. Being a nice traditional english pub, with excellent beers, it is the only one in St Albans that offers spanish beer Mahou. That is a must for the small community of spanish expats. I will come back for sure in my next visita to St Albans. Speisekarte ansehen

It’s the 27th of April 2023 cover my husband tonight and I dog Molly walked into the front door to be greeted by an aggressive dog. The manager/owner said he’s only been here a week and he hasn’t done that before, so if you’re thinking about taking your door or young Children to this pub, on the drinks review we have been there several times the barmaid doesn’t know the difference between so the lemonade or tonic or soda. I think they do a cocktail of the leftovers mixers . And the owner has a bad attitude towards his customers would never go back again

The restaurant was understaffed for the early evening rush, with the overwhelmed staff sharing their struggles with patrons at the bar. Despite the lovely atmosphere and comfortable surroundings, one staff member appeared visibly stressed and upset. The menu offered a variety of options from vegan dishes to meat meals, with some of the food being delicious. However, a chicken burger was found to be raw, with pink edges and a slimy texture. After attempting to address the issue with staff, the problem went unresolved and the customer decided to leave without eating the food due to medical concerns. We went to the Red Lion for my birthday on Sunday evening and were quite disappointed, especially after reading the glowing 5-star reviews about their roast dinners. When we arrived, our table had not been cleaned and there were leftovers and rubbish on the floor. I ordered the beef sirloin, which was overcooked, dry, and chewy, and there was very little gravy on all of our roasts. They had run out of pigs in blankets, red cabbage, truffle mash, and we only managed to get 1 extra Yorkshire pudding before they ran out of their supposed unlimited supply.
