"As for the food and service, I cannot fault the friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed the succulent St Austell Mussels cooked in a cream and white wine stock, perfectly executed. My husband ordered a bacon and chicken baguette which we shared along with some chips. It was the perfect lunch after a walk. The pub also offers a large car park for convenience. Overall, our experience at The Mary Tavy was memorable for all the right reasons. It is a lovely pub for both locals and visitors alike. This restaurant is truly top-notch for a lunch stop on our long journey. The comfortable atmosphere was highly enjoyable, and the food was excellent as well.

We attempted to make a reservation for a meal/table but they were fully booked. My wife pointed out that it was my fault for waiting too long to make the reservation. However, the staff was helpful and more understanding than my wife. Service rating: 3 Location rating: 5

Called in to watch the rugby semi final and stayed for supper and a few ales. Parked up in the field for free with my van and had a great Friday evening. Will definitely call back and hopefully there'll be space to park again as there's only room for a few campers. Service: 5 Location: 5 Speisekarte ansehen

I decided to stop by on a whim on Sunday to try the roast, and it was fantastic. The chef, who speaks French, is clearly very skilled, despite his questionable support for the rival team. The bar also had Sky Sports, so we were able to watch Tottenham dominate against their rivals. The walk from Mary Tavy is easy along a permissive path, avoiding the main road. The service and location both received a 5-star rating. The hotel has a great view and is kid-friendly. #coys

What a superb find. I was travelling with friends and decided to book a nice Sunday roast. We took to our table and were served immediately. The very tasty road arrived along with the drinks. As we finished our meal, two men turned up to play live music. The pub became rather full due to this, but what a great atmosphere it was. The singing and music were super. As a note, the gardens at the back are superb and have great views. Top notch visit, brilliant. Service: 5 Location: 5

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
