"We visited as had seen on Instagram and had both worked at a McMullen pub in Kent for many years, so know what high standards to expect. BEAUTIFUL BUILDING with lovely history and old artefacts from its days as a Bank. it was a little bit on the chilly side though). We went on a Sunday lunch and were able to find a table without any difficulty as it wasn’t busy. There were a few empty tables that hadn’t yet been wiped cleaned which surprised us as there were a lot of staff standing behind the bar just chatting not seeming busy at all. We ordered up at the bar as per the helpful instructions on the table) and were served by a pleasant young lady; sadly all the while she was serving us her colleague carried on a non work conversation with her which we didn’t think was very professional at all. Good Menu choice. DELICIOUS FOOD, I had beef roast and my friend had the sausage and mash. It came out quickly too. Staff came to check back that we were happy with our food which was good. The hand dryer didn’t work in the ladies toilet and there were no paper towels as an alternative so had to use toilet roll and then there was no bin to put it in. I would return as food and decor was lovely."

This place is absolutely incredible. Even the toilets are worth a visit. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase spending a penny

Beautiful building, the food is good, but sparing. The organisation of the waiting staff is poor, I had to keep asking to get an order placed.

We had a lovely meal, well priced with great beer and very friendly service in an incredible building full of history and charm. Like a museum. Great spot. Enjoy!

The restaurant was extremely overcrowded and the music was blaring, making it impossible to have a conversation. Despite the good reviews of the food, we were unable to find a place to sit and eat, so we decided to leave. (Wednesday night)

Great pub, great vibe, went to the bar to order our food. Our two pies were very good. When I got home and noticed a 10% service charge, what for? I came to you and ordered. come on don’t take the p**s . Your service was to bring two plates to our table and never saw you again.

Such a picturesque pub! Steeped in history with artifacts dotted around. We booked ahead for drinks. Staff had reserved a bar stool seating area for us but as soon as they noticed my walking stick they directed us to a comfortable seating area. We didn’t eat but we will return as the pies looked amazing. Staff were super helpful too. Speisekarte ansehen

I took my 16-year-old and husband to this restaurant for lunch. We were really impressed by the architecture, with its beautiful high ceilings and great vibe. We arrived around 12:30 on a Thursday and it was already quite busy. By 1pm, it was packed. Luckily, we were able to secure a table. We ordered the pies and scampi, which were good pub food, albeit at London prices. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was easy to find from the tube station.

I had booked a table a long time ago for guests who particularly wished to taste a good fish chips have a menu with a wide choice. Having looked at the pub 's website I also telephoned the pub and spoke to a gentleman who assured me they would have fish chips on the day plus the usual large menu. Even though we were amongst the first to arrive for lunch, they had 'run out fish chips ' plus other items were missing from the menu. Nice enough staff but there was a certain lack of urgency and certain items had to be reordered to arrive. Disappointing, I shall not be returning.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
