"We entered unsure if the place was doing lunch on a Monday and with two dogs in tow. The young girl at the bar, looking very bored) said they would be doing lunch ‘shortly’ (it was We asked when ‘shortly was’… about ten minutes...came the reply. We chose a seat in the window. The young girl refused to engage in conversation, only answering when spoken to. Not very welcoming. Spent more time scrolling through her phone than seeing to her customers (we were the first to arrive). We ordered a drink and food. Whilst waiting for food, we noticed the carpet was absolutely stinking, filthy, I kid you not! It was totally obvious that dogs were allowed and for this reason, I did not feel at all uncomfortable having my dog in but had to avert my gaze from the carpet! There were dog hairs, food crumbs, and I dread to think what else, galore! Fortunately, the locals saved the day with tales of yesteryear and merry amusement ensued. The food was very nice, not a lot of choice for lunch time but nice pub grub. Shame the welcome wasn’t more welcoming."

Friendly local pub. Made to feel welcome on both visits. Food was good and nice ambience in beer garden and pub.

We had the best steaks here, cooked to perfection. Unfortunately it was quite empty on an autumn weeknight but we had seen it busy at the weekend. Now we know why. Also, the desserts were sublime. Enjoy

Very impressed with quality of beer here. Had the best pint of bitter here I've had in a long time (Otter Ale) so much so I visited several times during a short visit to the town. Food was good and very reasonably prices.

We stayed here December and enjoyed that time and the food then, we visited with my parents this past week and had a enjoyable meal, not rushed, well cooked and well presented, nice to see locals supporting the pub as well, good atmosphere with...the juke box knocking out some classic oldies.

We have just had a fabulous meal at The Quay Inn, it has a lovely ambiance and the food we had was wonderful The fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were in the top best chips my hubby has eaten! The beef stroganoff...was absolutely delicious, I just wish I had room for pudding! Thankfully we live locally so will be back soon! Definitely recommend

First visit with family, away from home. We all chose different Burgers, the Veggie Burgers were tasty with plenty of filling, Chips and Salad. My only issue was we were asked if we wanted cheese in the burgers, but were not made aware there would...be an extra for each piece, This put the price of the Veggie Burger meal up by an extra . Good service and friendly Staff.

There were of us in the party which was booked at very short notice, ranging from very young grandchildren to grand parents. The staff, apologies for no names, could not have been more helpful, often going above and beyond to ensure the youngest was...as well cared for as he oldest. The menu was good, we had no problems choosing a meal, which was well cooked and served, and very tasty for all. Good draught beers on the bar as well. Overall a hood evening, made better by the environment and staff. Thank you.

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
