"We’ve been to the Rose and Crown a few years ago and it was a very warm inviting pub with great food, good service and always very busy. We visited today and the experience was completely different. The pub was empty for a Saturday afternoon, we ordered 2 drinks and a Camembert plater £14). The plater on initial expectation looked good but the bread was way to burnt for us to enjoy. We asked for a new batch of bread. Next we overheard shouting from the kitchen with the chef saying ”bread is just burnt toast” in a very aggressive way clearly damming us for asking for something less toasted burnt). We were pretty shocked. I’ve never experienced such awful behavior from a chef. We let the waitering staff know what we overheard and how disappointed we were and how uncomfortable we felt; they very professional and extremely apologetic but we will not be returning back to this establishment."

Our monthly suppers are always successful as we are guaranteed good food, wines and beers, served on time by mine host Jamie and his team.

The roast beef dinner was severely undercooked, with pink, stringy beef and vegetables that seemed to have just been quickly soaked in boiling water.

We had a party of 6 and the restaurant did an excellent job accommodating 2 guests who needed gluten-free options for Sunday lunch. The food and experience were fantastic, and we highly recommend this place.

Anyone thinking of a fabulous location for a small and friendly wedding venue, can’t think of a better place than Rose and Crown in Sandridge. Staff went the full mile and food and service was superb. Thanks to you all.

A big thank you to George, our waiter, who not only provided excellent service but also added a touch of humor to our dining experience. He was knowledgeable about the menu and went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. We had a wonderful lunch with friends and will definitely be coming back again.

So, we are a group of friends/family who were in the area for a pickleball tournament and we had not thought to book somewhere to eat!! We turned up at the Rose and Crown just as the kitchen was closing but the chef agreed to stay open and feed us and we are so happy he did. 3 x shepherds pie, 1 x fish and chips and 4 x sticky toffee pudding later we were four very happy people. The food was fantastic, service spot and the staff beyond brilliant. Thank you so much

We treated ourselves to a rare meal out to celebrate our wedding anniversary; Jamie gave us the warmest of welcomes, and couldn't have been more attentive, making sure we knew about the off menu specials he had on that night. I never normally go for 3 courses, but didn't regret it; our starters, mains and deserts were delicious, and the beetroot salad my wife chose looked great nice to see healthy options on a pub menu (although the sticky toffee pudding cancelled that out!

We have just had a fabulous Sunday Roast here, after a dog walk around the nearby woods....what a gem...never tried before and actually the third pub I'd tried to book...dog friendly...and a lovely cosy atmosphere with open fire. And the roast was faultless, we had the lamb..found just enough room for pud sticky toffee and brownie...very yummy ...all in all a lovely afternoon would highly recommend and the lady that served us with the glasses was just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble...slot of pubs could learn a lot from this friendly local..thsnkyou

This is a beautiful old pub with fireplaces and fairy lights. We visited to see the jazz band Semaphore with guest singer Yvette. The band and singer, who perform every now and again, gave a great performance which we all enjoyed. Once it started to get dark, the fairy lights were also illuminated in the outside seating areas in the large and small marquee (certainly needed due to some rain later on). There was a good selection of drinks including hot beverages and the desserts were delicious and generous we didn’t have a main course therefore I’m unable to comment, but people were certainly ordering them. The pub was very understaffed (as are many other hospitality venues in the area) howev...

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."

"Ever since they opened, I 've been for family gatherings, social events and dates and every time it has not disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and have a positive attitude. They are attentive, happily explaining the menu and how food should be ordered making recommendations. The menu itself doesn 't overwhelm with choice and is perfect for those with all tastes. There are plenty of veggie options and the wine is impeccably selected. The food is absolutely delicious and very well presented. The quality is evident. The portion sizes are perfect and not just stomach fillers (e.g. excess bread or rice). Every bite feels worth it. Please be aware that this restaurant is about sharing and each dish is made for it. There are no 'courses '. It 's about ordering the dishes you want and they will arrive when ready. With all the above in mind, this does mean that the prices are on the higher end and with alcohol you can expect to spend around £40 per person if you also include desserts (which are also incredible, especially the Creme brûlée). This might seem expensive, but remember, it 's about the experience, not just the food! Tabure is worth every penny in my humble opinion. If it 's just the two of you and you 'd like something different with a significant other, I 'd highly suggest requesting seats at the chefs table over looking the charcoal grill! It 's amazing watching the chefs work their magic and adds so much to the experience that most restaurants don 't provide."
