"During our stay at the adjacent hotel, we had breakfast here twice. While the selection was limited, there was something for everyone, and the portion sizes were generous. The dinner menu, however, was truly exceptional. The chips (French fries) were delicious, and there was a great variety of drinks, including local cask ales. But the real stars of the show were the savory pies. My wife ordered the steak, shallots, and mushroom pie, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I opted for the 5-spice duck, cranberry, and port pie, and let me tell you—I don’t often have profound moments with food, but once every few years, I experience something extraordinary. *Every* *Single* *Bite* transported me to a state of bliss. The pastry was perfectly flaky and not at all dry, while the duck was tender and not greasy. The combination of cranberry and spices gave the gravy an incredible flavor that I had never encountered before. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water!"

During our visit to London we came across this pub. The atmosphere is chill and the staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and how they provided service.

Locations was excellent!! As a tourist we have many attractions at walking distance and close to train stations. Breakfast was good. Room comfortable. There was a front desk girl extremely helpful.

Stopped for a quick lunch and couldn’t have been happier with my choice of their ‘award-winning’ pie and mash. Would totally recommend as a reasonably-priced lunch option if you are close to Westminster. Card payments only at the time of this visit.

The room was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, and the location is perfect for visiting London City. Breakfast is served at the pub downstairs, where you can enjoy a small buffet as well as order a warm plate made to your liking. I highly recommend this place! Speisekarte ansehen

Overall experience was pretty good. Menu is a little limited but all of our table enjoyed what we had. As a person with a visual impairment I found that the lighting was adequate although I didn't go to the bar so can't comment on what it's like walking around. I was able to see my food though. To sum up Limited choices Nice food Adequate lighting Good atmosphere

Beautiful old building with lots of history. This building is one of the oldest on one of the oldest streets in Westminster. Come out the door look right and you can see Westminster Abbey. Look left and you can see St James’s Park tube station. It has so much character. We had an amazing stay. Great location. Lovely clean hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. We will be going back.

The Sanctuary House Hotel is a typical older European hotel. Small but quaint, adequate for a good night's stay. It's location is near perfect for wandering around London. Close to Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, Hyde Park, museums and Piccadilly Circus. The first floor is the Ale Pie pub with wonderful meat pies. Guests get a great breakfast free with a stay. The check in is on the first floor (2nd USA), and there is a lift. The rooms of course, are small as this is not a resort. And if you're staying in your room for more than sleeping and clean up, you're missing a great city. Speisekarte ansehen

However, the accommodation consists of rooms above a pub. While they are comfortable and clean, the noise from the floorboards in our room and the neighboring one was quite disturbing, causing us to wake up as early as 6:30 every morning. Breakfast is served in the pub, and while the food was decent, many regular items were unavailable or ran out during our stay. For instance, there were no strawberry jam pots the entire time, and there wasn't any salmon for the Eggs Royale. Overall, there's nothing seriously wrong with this place, but if this were a "Four in a Bed" situation, I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Santuary House is the ultimate pub experience. My visit was enhanced by the first London Marithon on years post covid. Crowds drank in the streets due to lack of space inside. I returned for a total of three visits! Many Craft Brew Ales. The room temperture London Pride was excellent for purests. Chilled philsners are available. The food is moderately priced, in 17 20 british pound range. Fish chips (haddock) was large and good. It could feed two. On Sunday, special roast dinners are available. I had dry aged sirloin roasted with potatoes and other root vegetables Yorkshire pudding. My wife ate lamb pepper meat pie. Both excellent (see photos). On our last visit, Pork hock cheese and mushroo...

"Visit with friends. Arrived and the restaurant was very empty at that time of the evening. Shown to a table that had been allocated to us. Asked if we could move to another and I was initially given the impression that that might be difficult. Just to say again that the tables were allocated rather than reserved. Another customer was making a similar request and after some back and forth we could both move. Not the greatest of starts. This restaurant specialises in Punjabi cuisine. That is what attracted us in the first place when reviewing the menu online before we booked. Starters were of a generous size but rather stodgy. Perhaps more filling for a starter than you might expect particularly if you had ordered a main course and were intending to have a dessert. In contrast my wives dessert was very small for the price charged. The main courses were very spicy even though we requested mild. I appreciate that is a preference on our parts but my wife felt the same. We went with a friend who was visibly sweating. He comment on his main fish course was that under the spice it was a little bland. A lady I took to be the owner asked if we were enjoying our main couse? We commented on how spicy they were and asked for some yoghurt to cool them down. This was supplied with no issues and in fact my wife's prawns (only three found sadly) and my lamb main course were taken back to the kitchen to have I assume some of the chillies taken out or additional yoghurt added. This was done very politely and efficiently. Just to add we have absolutely no issues with regional food differences whether they may be. Perhaps our preference in this instance for less spice takes away from the experience the restaurant seeks to give. However requesting when ordering a mild version, and when asked what we preferred as well, makes the customer right. To drink. A beer for me and our friend. A cranberry juice for my wife which apparently tasted like a squash. Service left something to be desired as well I am afraid. On our initial table three menus supplied. On the second only one and had to ask for two more. Table wiped down after our main courses but only one corner? Had to ask several times for the bill, having asked the lady above who dealt with the spicy food issues. In fact she was eating her evening meal behind us with other customers and jumped up and apologised when she realised she had not let us have our bill. The waitress who we dealt with initially about our table allocation asked at the end of our meal if we had enjoyed it and if we would return. Afraid we said no to both. We had a mutually respectable conversation as to why not and discussed the issues above and others. So a disappointing evening I am afraid. However this is a true reflection of our experience from our perspectives."
