A group of us came in for Sunday dinner. Lovely food as always. Great service from Charlotte. Will definitely go back!

The meal was reasonable, although the service was a bit slow and the Roast Sirloin of Beef had more fat than we would have preferred. However, on the positive side, there were plenty of delicious vegetables and gravy.

The food was underwhelming, all four of us who dined together agreed. It was overpriced for the quality we received, and the stroganoff was swimming in oil. I have enjoyed stroganoff in many different restaurants and countries, and it is typically cream-based with brandy. I'm not sure what recipe they were trying to follow. Speisekarte ansehen

From the second we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Mark and Lindsay were great hosts and we were made to feel very welcome by the local customers in the bar on the evening. Great nights sleep and breakfast was excellent with quality ingredients.

After reading some reviews, I decided to check out this pub/restaurant and I was not let down. Located in a small village, I didn't expect it to be too crowded at 7pm on a Tuesday evening, but there were a few diners there. The staff greeted us warmly and we had a good selection of freshly cooked, generously portioned food. It was a very enjoyable meal at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit.

Booked for Sunday Lunch once shown to our table realised that nearly every other table was also reserved! (Obviously very popular, so be warned to book early! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and our food drinks arrived very quickly. The roast pork, beef lamb we chose individually were very tender and good sized portions. What an amazing pub. The food, the staff, the chef, the people (here’s looking at you Nick, Jane, and Mark! . I had the special, a monk fish and shrimp curry and my husband had the duck breast and we shared the sticky toffee pudding. All were so delicious, and by far the best pub food we had in England in our 16-day trip. And the pub itself was exactly what I wanted to experience. Wish we had gone earlier; we would have returned every night. Thank you for a terrific, local experience. We will remember you fondly.

Great, proper country pub, with consistently good food, service and beer. We stay in nearby Richmond twice each year and always make sure we visit the Shoulder of Mutton each time we’ve been eating here for about six years now. Booking ahead is useful as they’re usually busiest early in the evening (and closed Monday and Tuesday). There’s always a staple of things they do very, very well such as a steak pie, fish and chips, fish pie, cheese soufflé, sharing boards etc as well as specials, such as black pudding bon bons and deep fried squid. This is the worst pub for customer service I have ever been into. We arrived on Sarurday afternoon with our dogs, and as we walked in the landlady appeared hostile and rude. She abruptly said ' Have you booked a table ' we replied no we havant. so as we made our way to a table we were given disgusting looks as though we were dirt of the street. She had a very poor attitude and we felt embarrassed. We decided not to stay in her pub, and on the way out, she snilled and grunted at the man behind the bar who must have been the landlord.
