"we've been coming here for years, but never came to that. on Sunday after Christmas we wanted to eat something and dog friendly. our normal places were closed, but the black was open, and had tables only forsunday, which was ideal, and also took dogs! we arrived to find a parking space that is solid but has found a place. when entering we find this beautiful old building with wooden floors and a beautiful outside area that would be great in summer. we were brought to our table after we said our names and shortly after given menus. we ordered the bark, and had the extra cost of cauliflower cheese and vegetables. while we waited, I ordered drinks at the bar and loved the fact that they had to find the more difficult brands. I love German beer, and they had a German beer that I had not yet what was amazing. our meals arrived with a decent amount on the dish and tasted well. to dessert I had two, Christmas pudding and another pudding. the Christmas pudding was small, mostly seeds, and not what I call Christmas pudding, which is rich with fruits. the other pudding was in order, but nothing special, and should be for £8.00 everyone as I paid at clavelshay barn! I had made amazing puddings by a qualified chef who now chef at the castle, in taunton. if we got the bill, it was over £90, and then they want another 10% survey fee up, so it almost £100!!! we usually don't pay the extra, but this time, because of the friendly, efficient staff. our local crossways pub, at west huntspill, the somerset camra pubin somerset, makes a beautiful Sunday dinner, and even with extra veg, several desserts, expensive dose beer, etc., cost less than £70! we like the swan, but not as regular restaurant."

We went for a long overdue date night. The bar was very busy with people having after work drinks. because of this, we had to wait over 30 minutes for ours. Otherwise the food was very good and the service friendly.

We've dined here a few times albeit not recently, as far ambiance, its a very fine building in a lovely village setting eat inside or out, the inside is an excellent mix of old and new. Some tables are close together or tight up against the wall the service is attentive and the food ok. For me its gives the impression that you are about to experience something special however whilst good it just didn't leave you feeling the same way.

This was my 3rd visit to The Swan and yet again it has disappointed. It is obviously popular vut I can 't help but think there is an element of 'emporers new clothes ' about this place with no one prepared to admit that they are being ripped off. I ordered the Plaice that probably had 2 mouthfuls of edible meat on it with the rest just comprising of skeleton and skin. Was with company and was therefore mindful of making a complaint. Definitely won 't be coming back.

Relaxed, shabby chic country pub with restaurant and outside space. We stayed for a couple of nights and had two dinners and breakfasts. They have someone good in the kitchen the food was very nice better quality and more interesting than the average pub, but not over fancy. Our only gripe was that the staff are very young locals, which is nice in many ways, but they can't answer questions about the menu. There needs to be a stronger management presence and the staff need to be better briefed.

on Saturday, the 5th March, the san visited for a birthday dinner with some very good friends. we sat in the bar, which was particularly pleasant next to the slowly burning fire, which was very welcoming. we had a mix of appetizers and main courses, including the meerrote chest of wood and crispy venison, torn makrele, crab croquette, pork bell and baked cod. all dishes looked very appetizing and tasted delicious. the portions were right. service was very good, atmosphere cozy and reasonable price-performance ratio.

We left the The Swan with memories of great food. My husband ordered the steak fantastic and I ordered one of the great sounding tasting vegetarian choices. If you are a veggie you won't be disappointed. I chose the restaurant due to the Chef's River Cottage links so had high hopes of a vegetable adventure and it delivered! Broccoli, ricotta, herbs a bit more broccoli (sauce). It was unique and flavoursome, thank you. I would have liked something with a little bit/crisp just for final added texture (shout to kitchen) and the chips…well they were the crispiest chips we have ever encountered fab!! My two young boys were happy. Relaxed atmosphere, village looked a great place to live/visit and...

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."
