"Being a regular goer to New Malden, I was curious about this restaurant but always had another place to go. But yesterday was the day. First impression was not great. As it was a Friday evening, the place was packed. We had a booking but...the staffs couldn't find a table and they probably have been happy if we told them we'll go elsewhere. And before giving us table, they were only asking if we intended to do a table BBQ or not. Being a timer, all seems be strange. Soon it made clear. This is an extended arm of next door butcher store. Customers for the tabletop bbq, need to purchase their favourite cut from the butcher next door and then bring them to the restaurant to cook it on the table top. Butcher had a good selection of cut in Korean style. Korean butchery is known for more detailed cuts and have varieties of speciality cuts for tabletop bbq like sec pork slice. We went for Wagyu sirloin, roll of marinated short rib aka Kalbi, and a pack of thin sliced short rib, came up to There is pp table setting charges which covers a tabletop bbq grill, types of Korean bbq sauces, side dishes, lettuce and garlic slices for wrapping. There is a restaurant menu to order popular Korean dishes like Jeon (pancake). But for us, it was bbq only time. We started with one chunky Wagyu sirloin. It was soft and buttery taste just melt in the mouth experience, superb! Thin sliced short rib had more texture but still tasty. And lastly the marinated kalbi was amazing. We couldn't get through all the meat so I came home with roll of beautifully marinated kalbi beef. Was the whole experience worth it? Definitely. The questionable welcoming service got better when I understood how they operated. It's DIY and I kinda enjoyed they left us alone. It's like eating at home (but no need to do clean up afterward). Most importantly, I enjoyed quality and variety of meat cuts. It's subjective matter but i felt was good price for a meat feast for two which incl. Wagyu and bottle of Cass beer. I will be happy to come back to this place very near future."

Place charges a head, and you go next door to select your meats. Meats are all of very good quality, several marinated options, and very very good value. Cooked options we sampled were also generous and delicious. Easy recommendation.

I was here a lot. but recently, the personal and management was different, maybe new, they only serve if they are white or korean. otherwise they will experience the truest form of modern racism. I never knew this existed in modern age as today.

We visited the Tree Stone last weekend for the first time. What a fantastic experience. I went with a Korean friend and he said it is very authentic and almost like in Seoul. The meat cannot be fresher. You know exactly what meat you get...and the service is swift and friendly. Finishing the meal you even get a very reasonable if not surprisingly low bill. We highly recommend the Tree Stone.

I recently visited this restaurant with a Korean friend. they have few tables and the atmosphere is beautiful and warm. we picked this up at the metzger next door and then cooked at the table. we have pork belly, bark, mushrooms and sesame. the quality of eating is great, we were so happy. everything was delicate and delicious. it was the first time that I tried sesame leaves, the taste is really good. everything was wonderful except the service. there was only one waitress for all tables. I will visit this restaurant in future.

Went here with my grown up son Monday evening. Hadn’t been to a proper Korean BBQ before so really enjoyed it. They have a very full Korean menu and a long sushi menu but we went for the Korean BBQ. You pay per person...and you get lots of side dishes and sauces. You then go through to their butcher section and pick out whatever meats you want (you pay for them separately). Tip: the marinated meats are in a fridge near the back and are all amazing. The waitresses help get your bbq hot plate going and you just cook the meats bit by bit m, the sauces they provide are lovely and we ordered some rice to go with it. You can use the lettuce leaves to make wraps too. Will definitely be coming back.

We had enjoyed Beef Bugogi at Han's Korean restaurant in New Malden so decided to try it for lunch at the Treestone Kitchen. The Treestone Bugogi was a huge disappointment, mainly because there was no sauce on the dish at all. So we ended up...with plain boiled beef strips with rice and salad. The beef is supposed to be marinaded in a rich sweet soya sauce but there was no trace of any sauce. The dish was devoid of flavour, taste and any enjoyment. Later I noticed I'd been charged for a small can of coke and they'd automatically added for service. They failed to mention this when I added a couple of pounds as a tip because the waitress service was good. So I paid double service for a tastele...

my man and I dine in the tree stone earlier in the year on a rare and much needed date night. we had not booked a table, so the new paintings went down high street and saw what our imagination took. we chose tree. stone, as we had never tried, Korean food and it seemed busy what we thought was a good sign. we went in and were offered a table and a menu, but unfortunately no one has time to explain or recommend the menu. we flew the way through the menu and picked some dishes that sound nice. we noticed that other customers around us appeared next door to choose meat from the metzgern to cook again on the table, on the bbq, which really looked delicious and like a good fun; it was a shame tha...

we visited this restaurant for lunch. it was empty and we have a table near the door as we have prams and we didn't want to block anyone if they have customers later. when we waited for high chairs and menus, she called. after a past she brought a table we didn't need, and we asked for high chairs and menus. we were the only customers and she just couldn't accommodate us. later cook( came out of the kitchen and hit us on another table? then she said I know, but they wanted to sit there. f King is annoying in korean. I just couldn't believe what I heard! because we have spoken in English, she has assumed that we have not understood what made it worse, for so she treats customers who do not kn...

I celebrated my birthday in this restaurant. We were the first customers that evening. We love Korean food and we have been in several restaurants in the area so we thought, we wanted to try The Tree Stone this time. The ambience was lovely from the...outside so it ticked our curiosity. It’s modern and roomy enough. What is unique about The Tree Stone? Nothing in particular, really. So, you essentially buy your meat next door which is connected to the restaurant. Anything to your heart’s content then cook the meat yourselves. We didn’t see any seafood selection so it was a bit of a disappointment. They have set menu too but when craving for Seoulful food why do a set menu when you can do the...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
