"The pub and restaurant are nicely decorated, the staff attentive and welcoming however we came for a family meal and the food was overpriced and distinctly average at best. For example my starter was described as..... Pan fried King Prawns, white wine, garlic and chilli butter and crusty bread .....what I actually got was 4 king prawns in a sweet chilli dipping sauce straight out of a bottle! Despite ordering a Sirloin Steak rare I 'm 99% certain I was served a Rib Eye steak .....the shape was wrong for a sirloin steak and the marbling throughout the meat was reminiscent of Rib eye....plus it was overcooked. £8 for my king prawn starter and £29 for a steak is at the higher end for pub food in my opinion ....I didn 't think the quality was reflected in the price.....looking back I was disappointed. My wife had Sea Bass ...which again was overcooked. I 'm actually surprised as the Wheatsheaf is now under the same ownership as the Woolpack at Islip our usual restaurant of choice) and the food there is exceptional in comparison. Maybe we were just unlucky last night and had a poor meal, however I 'm not risking a repeat visit."

Two of the nicest pub meals we’ve had since arriving in England 3 months ago. We stopped here on a whim looking for dinner and were impressed by the service and quality of the meals. Much appreciated thank you.

This is a real gem of a pub. The food was excellent the beer of equal quality and a good range. The service was efficient and our waitress, Gemma a treasure. Nothing too much trouble and warm and welcoming. This was our second visit and we will become regular diners. An experience worth travelling for. Speisekarte ansehen

we live in the next village along and have been to Christmas meals here but nothing else. We booked for Sunday lunch with a visit relative. The service from the staff was so good. Everyone who came to our table was lovely. We all had a Sunday roast and the food was amazing. The gravy was so flavourful and the serving was just the right amount. We had a lovely experience here and will definitely book to come back again.

Came here with a friend and I couldn’t fault my experience. The service was amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. As soon as we entered the building, staff were ready to help us. We had 2 steaks which were cooked exactly how we wanted. The portion sizes were generous. The biscoff cheese cake was flavoursome and delicious. Big shout out to India who was very attentive. Will definitely be visiting again.

We looked on Trip Adviser for somewhere to have lunch not too far off the A14 we were travelling from Stafford to Ipswich. Trip Advisor suggested the Wheatsheaf a lovely little pub in Titchmarsh, Northamptonshire. Excellent choice. Off the A14 straight down a little country lane for 5 minutes to a pretty village good food, nice people, not too expensive. Plenty of parking. We’ll definitely be back next time we are hurtling along the A14 at lunch time! Speisekarte ansehen

Went with friends, arrived, were seated with a drink bought to us by waiter by 6.45pm. Found in the menu that some dishes were only available up to 7pm. Finally got asked what we wanted to eat at 7.15 to be told that we are too late I said we have been here well before 7 to be told that we are very busy . No apology, so ordered from the main menu. My wife 's Chicken Kiev was completely overcooked and the leaks were hardly cooked, my pot of micro-waved peas were cold in the middle. Should have complained but didn 't want to embarrass our friends. Disaster. Shame.

Our main beef and chicken meals were ok, except for the lack of hardly any vegetables which I expected to arrive separately, but never did. We had four deserts, for four people. When the bill arrived, it seemed quite a lot, and on closer inspection found we had been charged for seven deserts. When we alerted the guy who seemed to be in charge, there was no apology whatsoever, he just blamed the young lady who had been serving us. He should have taken responsibility himself. Let's hope the meals improve and the manners of those in charge. Although I won't be returning.

"Richard and I, en route from Cambridge to Shropshire, chanced upon this splendid cafe in Kettering, easily accessible from the A14. The cafe occupies a cosy space with a breakfast bar by the window, offering a lovely view of the local red-brick architecture, and a fine place from which to watch the colourful characters of Kettering passing by. Unlike some cafes, there was no 'greasy spoon ' smell, which was a boon. Instead a delightful and appetite-arousing aroma of freshly cooked bacon and eggs. Richard opted for the small breakfast, and had no trouble in swapping out his eggs and tomato for black pudding and mushrooms at no extra cost. I ordered the much-vaunted breakfast baguette. The food was cooked freshly and served quickly. Richard was impressed by the appearance of his plate, and more so by the delicious food which he consumed with gusto. Richard said the bacon was well cooked, the mushrooms were good, not too greasy, generally everything was well cooked, the only thing that could have been better was the sausage, which was fine but obviously a 'standard quality ' sausage . My breakfast baguette was fantastic, the crispy bread was marvellous and the generous filling was hot and tasty, and not at all greasy. All this, plus two steaming cups of flavoursome tea for the bargain price of £9.90. We both took the opportunity to use the facilities and we 're impressed with their cleanliness and the provision of Radox soap. On the whole a great find. We will certainly drop in again if we pass by on another adventure."

"We have visited several of these restaurants in the past and always received exemplary service. We were on our way home in Kettering and decided to go the restaurant for dinner as we had had busy day. We arrived at 18:10 on 17/5/2023 and there were lots of tables available so we selected table 2 in a quiet corner. My wife went to the bar and placed our order for food and drink and returned to our table at 18:15. My wife went up to the bar and enquired at 18:45 and the lady said that our food was being prepared as we had seen other people bing served their food which had been ordered after our order was taken we a little confused. As the lady behind the bar did not let us know what was happening we enquired again and were told agin it was being prepared. A few minutes later a waitress approached and placed our cutlery for us, on our previous visits we have had our cutlery place very soon after your order was taken not some 45 mins after taking the order. Had we not pre paid when ordering our food we would have left as we were not happy at all with the lack of customer service. When we got our food we did not enjoy it because we had had to wait almost an hour and the bar staff seemed more interested in crating fancy cocktails than serving us with our food order that in our opinion was not given to the kitchen when we placed it.
