"Disappointed Sunday lunch. Beef Ok vegetables raw and cold. The server left before we could ask for any sauces. We went to the bar to ask for the sauces and to order wine as no one had come to see if we needed more drinks. We were told someone would come to the table but the lady said it may be awhile as they were busy! Our meals were already at the table so providing the sauces should have been a priority as we should of been asked if we wanted any sauces when we were served our meals. I managed to catch a waitress to order the wine which arrived halfway through our main meal. During the meal we were asked if everything was OK and we told them about the vegetables. The reply was that I will tell the kitchen. A young lad cleared our plates and asked if everything was OK to which we replied about the cold and undercooked vegetable but it wasn’t his problem but thanked him for asking. At which point the other waitress that we spoke to earlier butted in and said she had informed the kitchen and we were the only table that had complained that day! Had she listened to the whole conversation she would of realised we were just replying to what the lad had asked. It would of been a lie if we had said everything was OK. From a marketing point of view you should be asking whether we would come back and it makes good sense to investigate why the kitchen sent out cold uncooked food. We did not receive an apology or explanation while we were there. We paid the bill in full and left very disappointed. We have had Sunday lunch here a couple of months ago with no complaints. We have been visiting this lovely pub for over 50 years it’s just a shame that the food and attitude of some of the staff did not live up to expectations."

This was a real find! Welcoming staff, good service and delicious food all in a really lovely setting with stunning floral displays. We travelled quite a way to meet friends 'half way ' and we were all delighted! Thank you

My friend and I went to dinner at The White Lion and were very happy with our visit. The food was delicious, service fast, and after we had finished eating, we had a really good catch up without being disturbed or hurried out the door. Very enjoyable experience.

My partner found the white lion on the of chance for my birthday a couple of weeks ago looking for an independent. We were so pleased with our find we had to go back, she loves the chili beef and the home made chicken kieve is devine...... wwll done all at the white lion

We enjoyed our dinner which was obviously made freshly on their kitchen . Very nice broccoli and Stilton soup and I had the oriental beef salad which was delicious. All our friends enjoyed their meal as well. The only thing was we the table was a little cramped for us as we are tall people. I would recommend

We unfortunately chose a table outside and when we were given the menus were told we had to go into order and get our drinks and carrying a bottle of wine and glassware for 4 was difficult and had to ga back for water and glasses, by now we were wishing we had gone to the restaurant We chose 2 sharing platters of fish for starters the whitebait were delicious but the smoked Mackerel pate was tasteless and not mixed properly had large lumps of cream cheese in it. My husband didn’t like his chicken Kiev in general the food was just OK Probably would not go again
