"This place is like Freddie Karno's Circus. It is chaotic. Firstly our ribs arrived looking like they had been microwaved. Tough, anemic and poor sauce. We sent them back and had them removed from the bill. The waitress apologized. My wife's teriyaki salmon was nice and my burger would have been if the chips weren't stone cold. I sent them to be replaced and the waitress apologized again. We had to find another waitress to get more drinks as ours had disappeared for a while. We chose deserts. My wife's was fine but when I asked if the Chocolate fudge cake was hot and was told it was, it arrived cold. The waitress apologized again. I sent it back to come back lukewarm. I just eat it as every time it took ages to find the waitress who was permanently busy even thought it was Monday night and the restaurant wasn't full. I would have asked for a reduction has I not had a discounted voucher. It is no wonder pub chains like Brunning and Price thrive against amateurish competition like this. I won't be going again"

Visited over the weekend. Normal restaurant closed due to refurbishment, not open again until March 19. You will eat in either the conservatory or one of the conference rooms.

My daughter had been for a meal last year and said it was poor but the bar and grill had not long been open. Giving it the benefit of the doubt we went earlier this evening and wish we hadn't, dreadful meal, will not be going back.

Booked a table for Saturday night. This is not a restaurant but a bar and grill type of dining experience. The noise was horrendous, couldn’t here ourselves think never mind talk to each other. If you want a nice relaxing place to eat where you can talk as a couple this is certainly not the place. Saying that the food was delicious.

I think the chef had overdone the chillis, I can eat medium hot curries with no discomfort but my chicken dish coating burned the back of my throat and other members of the family struggled too. We dis query it with our waitress who said the dishes were supposed to be like that, although in other Verve grills we had had no problem!!

Lovely bar area and food ok but i feel compelled to write this review due to the smell of the toilets The smell is overpowering and reminds me of an underpass or filthy public toilets . The whole place is being refurbished so maybe aren’t bothering to maintain the toilets but the smell entering the corridor to the toilets is overpowering and off putting Wouldn’t visit again until work completed

Love coming here with friends, dining room is spotless very light and well decorated. Plenty of starters to choose from and if you have a favourite you can go up for more. I had roast beef was cooked and sliced perfectly . All the veg was cooked to perfection. I made room for desert a delicious chocolate mouse. At £14.95 for adults it's fantastic value , not sure price of children's. Great outdoor areas and well kept Can't wait to come back again

For a large chain hotel, I wasn’t expecting a restaurant which is a sports bar. It had a very intimidating vibe for both nights of my stay, full of football fans and not a place I’d like to visit alone. Due to the Village’s lack of phones in rooms, you must go to the bar to order your room service (app system hasn’t worked the 4 times I’ve stayed at Village Hotels) Poor food and no vegetarian mains on offer, only salads and a burger from the “grill” section. Will avoid village hotels from here on.

We stay at lots of lovely hotels and have never paid so much for mediocre Brewers Fayre type food. I have never seen mussels so tiny and tasteless, as for the prawns and squid starter at £8 there could have been more of it and the batter was not as stated, it was soggy. Burger at £13 was very tasty, if a little on the pricey side, but one fillet of salmon, a few over-cooked chips (actually soggy, dark, overcooked wedges) on overcooked kale, at £18 was abominable. Two bottles of water £8. The restaurant speaks for itself though. Only three couples in on a Saturday evening at 8pm says it all. We only used it for convenience. Sorry must bring prices down and food standards up.

Having read a few bad reviews in the past, I was a bit worried after booking DBB stay st the hotel, especially as it was or anniversary. The set menu didn’t have much choice, but we were happy to choose from the menu, but was also offered to pick from a la carte with a £15 allowance and top up. The set menu was really good, we had a flat bread starter and hummus and tortilla chips.. both excellent. Main courses: we had the herb marinated grilled chicken and warm salad, and the chicken piri piri kebabs; both were excellent. We wanted the pineapple crumble but it had all gone, so I had the deconstructed cheesecake and hubby had the fudge cake, again both excellent. Only complaint was the espre...

"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."
