"Dreadful bar meal, worst we've had for years. 4 adults and 4 children, all the chips were under cooked, asked for more chips and had the same inedible chips again. Lasagne had an overwhelming taste of vinegar, gammon and burger were ok. We asked for a discount as half the food was inedible, the response was something we've never had in a pub/restaurant before. Reply was there is no manger her so they can't offer any discount. The covering staff member dealt with the whole situation dreadfully and essentially disputed our claim that all our meals were not cooked properly. Even our 4 kids could not eat the chips, this has never happened before. The chef did not come to the table and we were not offered an apology. A very badly run pub with poor standards and lack of staff leadership."

"We stopped by for lunch on a Monday, there were 4 humans and 3 dogs and all of us were given a very warm welcome. All of us were well catered for The food was tasty and portions were good (so much so not needed anything this evening). Everything was freshly cooked and presented really nicely. The dogs side order of bacon with fresh water was scoffed with enthusiasm too. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the ambience and the staff's hospitality. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, there is lounge seating and a balcony upstairs while downstairs there are tables with a wide range of seating as well as outdoor seating at the front of this wonderful cafe. Stop by the menu is diverse and veggies are catered for too. What's not to like, I'll definitely be popping by next time I'm in Borth."

"Myself and my wife visited whilst in Borth. We went to the bar and whilst a man behind the bar said hello he otherwise ignored us and proceeded to serve a local who walked in after us. Another barman appeared and I asked him if they were serving food and from what time. He said he had no idea and suggested we went to another area of the pub to find out. I them ordered a pint of Butty Bach and the barman returned with a half pint. After that I gave up and took my business elsewhere on the basis I the locals take priority over strangers 2 staff have no knowledge of the business they are running and 3 staff do not listen to customers. So don't expect a nice welcome or good service at the Railway Inn in Borth, as you will be disappointed on both counts. In my humble opinion, the management of this pub need to have a bit of a rethink about their approach to first time customers. We left before we had the opportunity to try either their food or the real ale on offer, so cannot comment on either."

"Treated myself to a chippy tea tonight. Chips, sausage, onion rings and curry sauce. DELISH!!! Everything was freshly cooked and still piping hot when I got home. The staff are brilliant and there 's a great little 'Bottle Bar ', next-door where you can have a drink if there 's a bit of a wait. Nice 1 to Liz and her team! Service: Take out Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it again. Last time the fish n chips were truly awful, frozen fish from a supermarket and oven chips. This time we waited an hour for pizzas, they'd actually forgotten us, when they did eventually turn up after twice reminding the staff they were ok. However the waitress managed to drop the chips on the floor and didn't even bother to clear the mess up. We sat there trying to eat our food while being pestered by seagulls scavenging the mess. The tables weren't cleared there was rubbish blowing around, all in all not a great experience, we definitely won't be going back. The management need to sort things out and not leave a bunch of young kids on their own."
