"Real shame, only went in for a beer after a lovely walk nearby. Got served at the bar by a lovely blonde haired barmaid, the other younger dark haired barmaid was a more frosty, we had our dog and she didn't make us feel welcome, we had another drink and was served by the frosty barmaid !! If you want to work in a tourist pub then at least try and be nice or get a different job. Will not be going again, we were going to go for an evening meal, we'll spend our money at a different more welcoming pub."

"We called over to Pateley for an impromptu visit to show my daughter where her great grandparents had lived and I had visited many times as a child. While there, we decided to grab lunch and stumbled upon The Willow. A really cute little cottage converted into a tearoom/restaurant with a great menu and helpful staff. The food was delicious and plentiful and my daughter was thrilled when she asked if she could have ice cream with sprinkles for pudding and the lady produced ice cream covered in chocolate sprinkles! My husband and I treated ourselves to cakes from the mouthwatering selection and our 10 month old took great delight in helping us eat them. Although there was no designated baby change area the staff were helpful in directing us to and upstairs area where my husband could change our son in privacy. We will definitely call in again if we visit again. Thank you to the staff x"

"When I returned for a second drink, the service improved significantly. The staff became more friendly and actually checked in on my meal. I try not to hold grudges, so I’m giving it a four-star rating. Even though I’m not from the area, this was my fourth visit in two weeks, and this was the only time I encountered issues. Perhaps they were just having a bad day, or maybe they aren’t particularly fond of bikers?"

"I’d have voted 0 if it was possible. Firstly I’d like to say that when the food eventually arrived it was good. The staff prioritised the pizza and pasta orders. These were served quickly and these customers were served and left before we were even served our cold starters even though we ordered before them. We’d ordered the specials at £35.00 for a main of medallions of beef and cold starters. We waited over an hour and a half for our meal. The food was good. The couple running the restaurant were friendly and hard working. But the waiter when we complained about the slow service became the most rude, insulting and aggressive person I have ever encountered in hospitality. I really thought he was going to get violent. He said ‘you’re not from around here are you’ and accused me of being ‘immature’. He failed to attempt to apologise for the late service but tried to put the blame on us saying ‘what time did you order?’….we ordered as soon as the waiter arrived! A simple apology would have been sufficient but he turned the situation into a war! He needs training in hospitality and personal awareness. Our evening was ruined by this and left us shaken and saddened for the couple who employ him. I therefore do not recommend going to this restaurant if you want a relaxing evening . So sad for Yorkshire which is on the whole a friendly and welcoming place to holiday."

"I visited on a Wednesday with family. The food was ok but for the lack of chicken or prawns in the curries we ordered. We asked for water and were brought a bottle of opened water with a very worn Harrogate spring water cap, in my opinion tap water in a reused posh bottle. To add insult to injury we were charged £3.55 for it. When the bill arrived it was for £84 plus. The meal was only £48, they also added £7.60 service charge. I don't know where they came up with that figure. All in all very disappointed. Check your bill before paying and ask for your water unopened."
