"I wish I could have stayed at the WH for more than one night. The warm welcome upon arrival and confirmation of our dining arrangements set the tone for a great stay. The first floor accommodation required some caution when accessing, with a narrow and steep staircase, but assistance was readily available if needed. My room was warm and cosy, located at the rear of the building with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom had a walk-in shower, which better suited my needs, and was spotlessly clean with everything in working order. The restaurant was busy on the Bank Holiday Monday evening, but the service was excellent and the quality and presentation of the dishes were exceptional. Breakfast offered a wide selection of dishes to accommodate different tastes, from Continental to a Full on Yorkshire breakfast. The staff were helpful, efficient, and not intrusive. Checking out was simple, but leaving so soon for a long journey home was a shame. I hope to return for a longer stay if the opportunity arises."

"The food was simply outstanding. It was beautifully presented and made with care from fresh ingredients. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The value for money was excellent, especially given the high quality of the dishes. While the restaurant was a bit quiet during our visit, that was likely because we dined late and it was off-season. I can imagine it has a lively atmosphere when it's busier. The decor is tastefully done in a stylish, rustic Yorkshire style. I highly recommend it, and we might consider staying there the next time we're in the area. As for vegetarian options, the Wild Mushroom tart was incredibly delicious, and there are a few other vegetarian choices on the menu as well."

"My recent dining experience at this restaurant left me with conflicting impressions. The culinary offerings were undoubtedly delightful, leaving a positive taste lingering. However, my enjoyment was overshadowed by the below-average service, notably due to the male waiter’s disinterest and attitude. Adding to my concerns was the unfortunate choice of naming for the disabled toilets as “non runner.” This term, in my view, is not only derogatory but also discriminatory towards disabled individuals. It’s disheartening to encounter such lack of awareness, as I had hoped we had moved beyond using terms that can be perceived as offensive. I believe addressing this issue is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and respectful environment for all."

"Lovely meal from start to finish! The members of staff were very friendly, we had a lovely chat with one of the ladies about food recommendations and local activities. We ordered: Cheese soufflé absolutely stunning Fillet steak beautifully cooked to our liking, seasoned well and accompanied by delicious chips and salad. I changed my chips for dauphinois. Creme brûlée absolutely gorgeous, lovely vanilla custard with the perfect caramelised top served with a homemade ginger biscuit. Can’t recommend this place enough, great food, wine and service!"

"We visited the cafe at the Garden rooms, we booked a table in advance in case it was busy as it was near Christmas but it wasn't busy at all. We have visited for a meal before in the Bistro and the food was lovely but I'm afraid this time in the Cafe we were very disappointed in the quality of the food. We ordered Thai green curry and when it arrived it was basically Cabbage and carrot in a grey liquid, no chicken it tasted awful. Thankfully the staff were very good and polite and when we asked for a new different meal to be made were very obliging. The other 2 meals we ordered were the Turkey and bacon casserole which we ate but would only rate it as OK as the veg was over cooked, tepid warm at best and the sprouts were burnt black?? Sadly I would think twice about returning again which is a shame because its a very interesting place."
