My husband and I enjoyed a delicious meal with great company today. The Fairfax Gin was a perfect accompaniment- so good, we brought some home! Thanks to hosts Kelly and Ashley. We will be back soon.

Been to this lovely village pub twice now and will most certainly return. We thought that being Mother’s Day it would be rushed or not as good quality, we were wrong. The food was excellent the staff are friendly engaging. The vegan veg pasty...was ‘the best’ our daughter had tasted the Sunday dinner was 5*

originally from the opposite, but now living in sw france, I was thrilled with eating and service in the sun inn recently. a grandiose and imaginative menu accompanied by the best wine list that I found in many a year. the passion. the owner radiates through and extends to the excellent staff. my older vater and I enjoyed excellent steak dishes, kreatiw prepared and much enjoyed. very recommended - many thanks for the whole team

eating was absolutely brilliant. our fish-sharing board was divine. the teig on the cod was great. the main course stream with saphir and spinat was simply beautiful and the sticky toffee pudding with pieces made from home was the...best I ever eaten! we were impressed by the weeping list and when we tried the fairfax out of our own distillery, it was simply wonderful and completely meritful of the prizes he won. to cover it, all the owners were charming and delivered a warmth of the service second to none. a great evening

our group of over 25 goes to an annual rennn meeting at various curses in the northern englands. Friday, May 13, 2022 was our third recent visit to york races and as in the previous years we had no concern at the mediation with ashley, kelly. and the team in ye old sun inn for our usual hearty yorkshire brunch and post-running evening meal. post covid we were not disappointed by great beer and wine, excellent eating and great service in a fabulous location. at our next visit to york we will no longer hesitate when booking.

Known locally as a bit pricey, but also a bit special for a night out (lovely extra complimentary wam dough straws with a dip), you could previously order from a menu of starters, main course and pudding. All of which would be deliciously presented to...perfection. But now there’s a confusing instruction to order two or three smaller plates per person, no idea how much you will be presented with. The owners are trying to think their way out of Covid damage, I reckon, but this is no place for StreetFood ala Sparks in York. We do want the option of quality night out, here, but it must justify the prices as it used to and not have tatty new menus glued over the properly enticing old ones.

We ate lunch here because of a recommendation when we were let down last minute by another venue. We were a party of 8 and were celebrating a graduation in York. I called through to Ye Old Sun Inn to see if they had availability...and also what facilities were available for a disabled member of the party. The staff accommodated and looked after us extremely well. They provided a ramp so we could enter the premises. The food was delicious , well presented and cooked to perfection . really disappointed. was much too overpriced for a tiny part of a bang average sausage and maic. paid £14 for a meal, also be given veg to share with my friend who also ordered the same. it was also calculated a 10% personal satisfaction without being asked or registered first, which is not acceptable, as this should be the choice of the customer. the atmosphere was very uncomfortable and too close to other customers, so we were not able to conduct a conversation, as we could unintentionally hear other conversations in the room. it was not in a position to solve the problems that have been anxious and uneasy as others would have been able to overhear. £44 for 2 meals and 2 drinks were blackm...

I’m disappointed to have to write a poor review of this lovely venue, however, I feel I must share our experience. We were there as a group of six for brunch on Sunday. The venue was relatively empty on this occasion, but service was still...very poor. Everything took an age and getting staffs attention was difficult. After our drinks came, consisting of, amongst others, 3 lattes, all of which were different, and ‘fresh’ orange juice which tasted suspiciously watered down, we ordered our breakfasts.
