"Was recommended by someone to come in to the restaurant so thought we’d give it a try ... After 20mins on waiting around to be served we finally ordered our food , we then sat back down where the freezer was to the right of me and I could see someone pulling food from the freezer(named brands) out with their hands. After waiting a little more people came in to the coffee shop where they sat down , but the previous persons coffee cups had stayed and they were not moved for the whole of the duration of the couple sitting down , no tables were cleaned and other tables had dirty plates on them. There were a couple of cakes , which I witnessed being cut without a glove on and the cake fell into their hand.... A little while later our food came out where the server didn’t know what food he was giving us and went back into the kitchen to shout to the “chef” and ask what is what , while they argued . Our order was wrong and we was asked “what do you want me to do about it , this is what your ordered” when it wasn’t in fact , I felt very intimidated and just said it’s fine leave it. While eating I could see the kitchen and could see the father and son arguing in the kitchen about another issue and were not very quite about it... The food was nice after all but customer service, cleanliness and attitude about the business is all wrong could defo do with some music as it’s very quite and atmosphere isn’t great !"

"Big disappointment! We visited few times before but not this year though. Place definitely overpriced, especially drinks, £7.95 for mojito moctail( lemonade plus some ice cubes with few mint leaves!)It wasn’t even tasty!They used to serve big portions and lovely complimentary salad before your meal, not anymore! Salad was poor, iceberg lettuce with some tomatoes pieces and balsamic vinegar! A z5 year old could make better!only one piece of bread to share In between 3 of us. What happened to this place??It used to be lively welcoming place, always packed! Today- only few tables busy the rest of restaurant empty.I am not surprised.We paid £75 for :1 starter, 2 mains shush kebabs and one child meal, 1 beer and 1 moctail.Left tip of £7, total £82 for a disappointing dinner. Won’t be coming back."

"Sea bream is one of the best fish and chop shops to go and visit around the area if not in most surrounding areas! Their cod is always fresh and if you’ve not tried their chicken sandwich burger I highly recommend you get down there soon to try it! I came here again yesterday with my dad and the fish we was given was beautiful- no complaints again to Halil and his staff! This is by far the best fish and chips business in south east London."

"Arrived and seated straight away drinks ordered and arrived within minutes , ..poppadoms and chutneys arrived very nice , wife had Keralan spiced King Prawns and i had Chicken Tikka Dhansak with Mushroom rice and a Baby aubergine side ..did not have to wait to long even though restaurant busy ...food was excellent very tasty and the Keralan spiced King Prawns were very well presented and included rice ,Dhansak sweet sour and well spiced excellent ,side dishes and rice etc as expected very good, all in all a great meal ,excellent staff attentive but not over the top .very generous portions and mid priced with a couple of rounds of wine and beers , coffees and 12.5% service under a £100 highly recommended."

"Went here with a couple of friends first we wasn’t going to eat but seeing other people’s food come out we change our minds, ordered food it was piping hot cooked to perfection I asked a member of staff what the cooks name was and the person told me it’s our new manager Stacey in the kitchen, hats off to this new manager I would highly recommend eating here, the drinks were perfect as well such a lovely time will be returning sometime in the new year keep up the great work at the golden lion, me and my mates wish the management and all the best for 2024, be back soon."

"Every time I eat in this restaurant I forget what a gem it is. The prices are so reasonable with good size portions and exceptional taste. I have tried many other Indian restaurants in the local area but from now on this is a must for me as it ticks all boxes! I wrote the above last time I was here and didn’t post it (thought I had) but had the urge to comment tonight again as realised what a great experience I have each time I eat here. The ambience is perfect for a mid week meet-up with a friend. Great food, great service, reasonable prices all round. Cannot wait for my next visit as the food was divine!"

"Some days ago, my mother and I dined at Zizzi’s to celebrate her recent career progression. We arrived without prior booking at 5:50pm on a Monday evening, at which point it was quiet and cavernous, with a choice of seating. We ordered the mozzarella garlic bread and fried calamari with aioli, drizzled with lemon for starters, to share. They both arrived promptly and were flavoursome without compromising quantity. Not only, was the mozzarella garlic bread simultaneously crisp yet fluffy, oily and salty, and heated to a pleasant degree. But also, the fried calamari was battered aptly, without sacrificing the quantity of the calamari. Soon after, we were met with our own generous dish of prawn linguini, topped with rocket. The linguini was twirled into a neat formation, with a mix of textures. While, the the tomato sauce was smooth and subtly rich, ample for the multiple hot linguini strips, the shaved courgette added a fine crunch, and the prawns constituted to a meaty density. However, within an hour, the restaurant was almost full, with the multitude of loudening conversations making it difficult to hear. Therefore, I would recommend eating early if you are someone who prefers a quieter experience. Also, although I was a student with a discount card, giving me access to 30% off on that particular instance. It is worthy to note that this is likely to be a somewhat costly evening, if you are someone who will order more than one course, or if you are a family, paying for multiple people."

"Essentially we were thrown out of the restaurant shortly after 11pm. The whole meal was rushed and the quality poor. We went to Shish and Mangal after a lengthy discussion about what to eat (as couples do). There were no customers in the restaurant. Upon arrival at 10pm we were told we had to order before 10:30pm because the kitchen closed at that time. This was not a problem as we were both starving. We ordered a beer, bottle of wine, two starters and two main meals. Everything came out in quick succession. It was a little faster than I would have liked between starter and main meals. Halfway through the main meal we were asked to pay so the staff could close the till. We paid to assist, but I was shocked we were asked at that point of the meal. I had to ask for the music to be put back on at one point, as we were sat in silence. At the end of our meal my partner told the waitress his main meal was not very good. She went to the kitchen and came back saying she agreed it wasn’t as good as it should have been. He asked for a refund and was told he couldn’t have one because they had closed the till! He was asked to call in the next day because the waitress didn’t actually work there, she was helping out as a favour?! We of course felt very uncomfortable about this and told the waitress we were not happy to leave without the refund. She told us she had a bus to get and family to get home to, so we needed to leave. There was nothing she could do. We argued our case politely and the waitress was screaming at us. I told the waitress she was very rude. She told us my partner should have complained at the start of his meal and not at the end. Frankly I was flabbergasted by the whole thing. I asked for details about the owner and again the waitress told me she didn’t have this information, except for a first name, because she was asked to help out as a favour but didn’t know who she was working for? The waitress put a cork in our wine and we left about £75 lighter. No refund and with a bad taste in our mouths. Had we been told we needed to be finished and out of the restaurant by a particular time, we would have ordered to take away and saved money having beer and wine at home. We paid a premium for the the experience of sitting in the restaurant and we were made to feel rushed and a problem for the staff. I will not eat here ever again and I am in no way surprised there were no other customers based on my experience. Save your money and eat elsewhere!"

"nice eating, especially our main courses! our server was very helpful and attentive also very friendly! do you think her name was lily? massive credit to her team! only what we both had a comment was the dress code, all around us are all very nice outfits wearing, but then a table came in our opposite in training pants and training suits. we had many texts that explain how we are not allowed in this dress clothes, has that changed? was very remarkable. I couldn't blame anything else!"

"Whilst the local is good for weekday or evening meals.. the last two times we’ve been for Sunday lunch have been disappointing.. the first time we ordered roast beef.. but couldn’t eat it as it couldn’t be cut so lunch was refunded but not just for us but a whole host of other customers.. this time there was NO beef or gammon so 2 out of the 3 choices not available at a 2pm sitting! So not impressed. I ordered roast chicken breast and got what looked like the fillet from the breast so had to ask for more chicken! My husband ordered a pie as the option he wanted wasn’t available but had to return the pie as it resembled a brick! Only to order a burger and chips.. which was ok. Having said that about the poor food the staff were happy and understanding to try and accommodate us… well done them. This will never be a Sunday lunch first choice ever again"

"I recently saw a review about delivery issues at the restaurant, but I want to clarify that the problem was actually with Just Eat, not the restaurant itself. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago and Just Eat recognized their mistake and gave me a refund. The restaurant staff handled the situation professionally and the person I spoke with was excellent. I have always received excellent food and service at the Taverna. It seems the previous reviewer was confused about how a delivery system works, and their harsh review was unnecessary and unfair. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to criticize others when it's not their fault. I felt the need to speak up because the restaurant is great and I can't wait to eat there again soon!"

"The restaurant was excellent, but I am giving it 4 stars because the T-bone steak I wanted was not available. It would have been better to be informed before we ordered. However, the Garlic bread with cheese starter was fantastic and a good portion size. My main course, a 10oz fillet steak, was cooked to perfection. The rest of my party (9 other people) also enjoyed their meals. For dessert, I had a floater coffee. Overall, we had a great time and I highly recommend this restaurant. The only strange things we noticed were a loose nail sticking out of the wall and spare chairs stacked on the way to the restroom."

"Update 2.....back dining in and reasonably happy after my disastrous takeaway. What i did realise is that you have to order the burger sauce on the side as its so runny and make the burger buns sloppy also the patties are served medium-rare so there is quite a bit of juice from the actual burger but excellent taste. Great skin on and sweet potato Fries...... Update.... this latest review is regarding the takeaway/collection service. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time I've used there collection services and had the same bad results, the burgers are being served smothered in sauce which reduces the buns to a mushy mess. Even on the burger we requested no sauce the bottom bun was soaked with meat juices, see photos. The buffalo hot chicken wings where tiny and resembled more of a sparrows wing then any chickens and considerably overpriced! 45 min wait for collection. We received only lettuce on the burgers and they've also removed skinny Fries from there menu. However I still rate dining in at the restaurant on pervious experiences pre-lock down at a 5 rating. The real king of the burgers! Beautiful beef patties combined with fresh ingredients to make one of the best burgers joints you can get locally. Wide choice of cocktails and some good beers. Good for couples and groups, always seems busy so best to book. Good friendly staff."

"We hired the private function room for my mums wake, and I can’t fault Kelly and the team. The buffet was plentiful, fresh and varied. My auntie is gluten free and they offered to cook her anything from the menu, in the end she settled with sandwiches they made so many she took the rest home. Arriving after the funeral we were all very fragile but Kelly was so warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Kayla and Katy in her team made sure drinks were flowing and cleared empty plates efficiently. Thank you so much for everything and the next time we hire your function room I hope it will be on happier circumstances."

"I will certainly return to kelsey 's farm shop, and a place I so good for me with many love memories from the 1970s. I had my first professional experience/work here when I left secondary school in the Sidcup/Bexley area in 1973. beautiful to see reflexions here on this beautiful historical farm in the possession of generations of the family kelsey. my wife and I will certainly return to buy the diverse selection of local products from kentish and British floor general grown. very enjoyed a chat with the friendly, friendly farm staff, and also the good foods sold here and refreshing scenes of the farm in the rule. the farm, which I thought was somewhat different compared to my memory of the past, but overall the charm and rural beauty remains here today. we will be back on Thursday for the fresh fish of billingsagate. well made to the family kelsey, please keep the inheritance and the tradition in this country a good example for the inheritance and the history of this country. only one question: does he have a day of negotiation in his products? patricia chris, Sidcup,Kent.10/10 a1. note: my wife and I visited kelsey’s farm shop on Sunday 20/2/22. we heard from heresay that the farm / caffe will be closed until the end of next week .end by februar? note this sign at the entrance of the farm on friday 22nd april '22."

"Went here with friends for a meal and a drink. I ordered a bottle of red wine. Firstly, the staff didn't seem to be capable of opening it. They handed the bottle around from one to another and tried to open it with the bottle sitting on the shelf thereby not positioning it properly to apply the right pressure to remove the cork from the bottle. This performance went on for quite some time. Then I asked them for the bottle to open it myself because I previously worked in the hospitality trade as a waiter for many years. They didn't give me the bottle but they went into the kitchen and resumed trying to open it but to no avail. When I asked the manager why there was such difficulty in performing such a simple task she was indifferent to my enquiry. In desperation I then asked for a refund which they gave me but we had to eat our meal without the pleasure of the bottle of wine. This was very poor service from the point of view of the indifferent attitude towards me as a customer and the inability of the staff to successfully remove the cork from the bottle of wine. Additionally when my friend went up to the staff to see if he could help they rudely told him to go away."

"Very disappointing. Visited last night since reopened. Food was below average, service was poor. It appeared it has changed ownership as the waiting staff and chef were different. The previous owner was very nice and often talked to customers in the restaurant. This has all changed. I was disgusted to see that our food was delivered to the next table and then re-delivered to us after the customer informed the waitress after 5 minutes when they discovered it was not what they ordered. The waitress sent them back to the kitchen and re-delivered to us after reheating it. I told the waitress I would not accept the returned and reheated dishes, she looked at me if I should just accept it. I asked for the manager, a guy who looked like a teenage school boy came and spoke to me with a horrible attitude if I should not have raised the issues. It ended up we had to re-order our food and waited for about 45 minutes, even then our order was not correct. Try to avoid this restaurant. On top of the poor standard of food and service I have concerns with regard to the hygiene if they would serve returned and reheated dishes. Such a shame as this was a little gem before."

"My girlfriend and I went there this afternoon. Served by a bright young woman and given a tip to try the summer fruits rosé for my girlfriend (who loved it) we had a simple but enjoyable meal. I have been to many nandos and sometimes the chicken is hard or dry but all the food we ate was fresh. The main room had quiet music and well decorated which usually is standard with nandos in general, the sauces were put into compartments on the table and seemed very practice. Will be returning for sure!"
