"I particularly liked the separate no dog area upstairs, as I understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs. During this visit, we sat outside in the sun, enjoying drinks and playing cards in the afternoon. Later, we moved inside for dinner. We enjoyed the relaxed and social atmosphere, and appreciated that the staff did not rush us to leave our table. Many others were also enjoying drinks in the beer garden without ordering food.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. There was a variety of seating options, including benches and tables outside with electric heaters, as well as some sofa seating inside. The food was excellent; we started with the bar nibbles (3 for £16) in the afternoon, followed by a special seafood dish and the steak pie. Everything was delicious and we could not fault it. We would definitely recommend The Old Gate, as it caters to everyone."
