"It was 2:35pm and service had closed at most other places. We had low expectations in fact, and food would be a positive. With a young family incredibly hungry after swimming, we just needed a friendly face, somewhere to sit and the promise of food fairly reliable. This place did that and more. George gave us with a friendly and professional welcome, explaining the layout clearly and although it could be up to 45min wait for food, the atmosphere was very welcoming and we had the choice of a booth or a place under the tipi near the fire pit. Something for everyone. The fact we could go to the bar and order drinks ourselves instead of waiting for table service meant we were in control of the first part of our experience. This helped with hungry/thirsty kids. Then, we had the option of ordering via the bar or a QR code on the table and the menu clearly stated a section where bits and bobs would come slightly before anything else-again-very helpful for a hungry family. The booths had their own two-tier overhead heating lamps which enabled us to keep warm safely, and contain our children with ease. Our bread starters came fairly rapidly and that brought a smile all round. We didn’t mind a bit of wait on our pizzas because that had been communicated to us from the get-go, and when they did arrive they were delicious. Thank you for a positive experience with professional and helpful staff. Will recommend to others visiting the area."

"Just occasionally, one stumbles across a venue that routinely exceeds expectations in all respects in terms of food, drink, attitude, service and hospitality. Hammet House in Llechryd, Pembrokeshire, is one such outstanding establishment. We arrived on time on a Friday night and sat in the bar with a drink my wife had a difficult choice as there were just so many flavours of gin to choose from. We were provided with menus and an extensive wine list to make our selections from. The menu is regularly changed, so even returning customers like ourselves are treated to something different on every visit. We both decided to try the duck for starters and while my wife had the fish for her main, I went for the steak and chip. After our orders were taken, we were shown into the dining room and invited to select a table. Breads were first up, along with our selected bottle of wine, shortly followed by our starters. The food was simply divine. Presentation, taste and textures were all superb. We finished our starters and waited for the main course, whilst enjoying some of the well chilled wine. What a treat that was. I really do think that the wine list here is one of the best I have ever seen in terms of range and depth. Mains arrived, and once again we were very impressed with the beautiful presentation, the taste combinations, and the quality of the food. Quite remarkable and absolutely 100 100 to the Chef. Thank you superb effort, thoroughly appreciated. After our mains were enjoyed, we both elected to have a dessert to finish the evening off, and were delighted to be surprised with two glasses of champagne and an additional chocolate and raspberry cake offering from the house as it was a birthday celebration. What a nice touch. Thank you. I've said this before, but I will repeat it for the benefit of new readers of my reviews if you are in Pembrokeshire and you wish to enjoy some excellent fine dining at its best, Hammet House is the place to visit (located at one end of the bridge in Llechryd). All in all, a wonderful and relaxed evening with some excellent food and drink. We look forward to the next one."

"Booked table for Sunday lunch and was expecting usual high standard of food and service. Unfortunately this wasn't the case at all. They were only doing a bar menu which was fine as it did have a roast option but the roast alone was £16.95 per head. The meat was ok but the roasties were deep fried, the amount of mash was so small we eventually found it hiding under the yorkshire, all the veg appeared to be frozen. When you're being charged that much you expect more than frozen peas, carrots and broccoli. We had to send the califlower cheese back as it had no sauce or cheese on it! The waiter we had was very dirty. His clothes were unkept and extremely dirty and for the whole time we were there his mask was under his chin which is unacceptable. The owner didn't seem to care of his attire or for not wearing his mask whilst serving her customers and he was serving multiple tables. In the present climate with COVID this was not acceptable. The other waitress cleared some of our plates and veg away and 2 family members were still eating! Very poor quality for overpriced food. When I went to pay the bill, they had charged me for another table's drinks!! All in all not a good experience unfortunately and not sure why their standards have dropped so much. If I didn't know who the owner was I would have thought it had changed hands. They have clearly priced themselves out the market as it was very expensive for the quality of food and clearly explains why it was so quiet which is a shame as it used to be so good. Will not go back unless they bring the standards back up. COVID can't be blamed for bad service and lack of management."

"A large party of us visited on a saturday evening, and I can honestly say that not one of the party had a good word to say about this place afterwards.Parking was really tight and the roads around can be busy so beware if there are lots of you.The decor is stuck in 1973 and it looks disorganised and scruffy when you enter. The locals were about as friendly as a starving bear and made it quite obvious they were leering at some of the ladies in the party. .The service is kinda 1973 as well... they haven't managed to take credit cards yet so you have to pay cash. It would be useful if they told you that when you booked. At least they now take sterling which I suppose is an improvement. When the waitress took our order she was pretty clueless. Charming, but clueless and had to keep going back to the kitchen to ask about the food. If she was new then ok, but help her as otherwise it's not fair on her or your customers. The food was pretty grim too. There was plenty of it, but it wasn't hot or tasty, nor was it all served together. The curry was about as authentic as a Tesco ready meal and the BBQ chicken was pale and tasteless. I'm no chef, but even I could have knocked up something better than that sad effort. The pub just doesn't cut it these days, avoid this place if you want a decent meal in a pleasant pub. I daresay that if the standard doesn't improve then it won't be open for much longer anyway."
