"The restaurant is tucked away down a small side street so there is not much footfall outside. The building itself is small but not cramped. There is ample room between tables so it still remains a private dining experience. The set lunch menu is amazing value for money, especially when you compare the cost of the same meals on the dinner menu. It took longer than expected to have our order taken but the restaurant was fully booked. The food came out in good time and was absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were larger than expected due to the nature of the restaurant. After the starter and main we were full! Could not recommend Chef's Table enough! We will definitely be coming back!"

"Toby Carvery Hoole Village is a great place to visit we all love going, the only criticism I would give is we once visited Toby Carvery Huddersfield on the way home from a trip out, and for some reason the Toby Carvery Huddersfield Gravy was out of this world. Now we have tasted that Gravy we think that the Toby Carvery Hoole Village Gravy is watered Down, as it is rather bland. As we loved the Toby Carvery Huddersfield Gravy so much, we have thought of making a 1hour 45 minus trip just to go out for lunch there."

"We only recently started going to the Piper as it's under new management. The new landlords are lovely. They made us feel very welcome and the atmosphere is great. The food was excellent value for money and plenty of it! We will now be going on a regular basis. I know it had a bad name in the past but I would encourage anyone to give it another try. It's amazing how new management can make such a difference in the space of 3 weeks!"

"Not so good this time, after two previous visits had been excellent. The impressive main dining space the Brasserie is now only open at weekends (Fri Sun) and for functions. The bar area still quite a smart location is now set up for dinner Mon Thu. Service is largely in the hands of young men keen to learn their trade but there were lapses the couple on the next table were offered water while I was ignored, and my glass of white wine arrived a couple of minutes after the crispy squid starter, accompanied by the glass of red for the rib eye steak main. This was well cooked but poor value at over £25, with too much inedible,. and two small mushrooms and a small tomato looking rather lost on a large plate with an average portion of decent chips in a tin.. I didn't stay for dessert. If I return soon it will be at a weekend."

"great staff, but eat a bit average. the curry chicken from partner was good, but my rippchen did not fall from the bone and on places was a bit hard. had it better. also there were two hot parties in one was calm, the other was not. Obviously, a restaurant for young people (which are not us) and I will give it in future a failure. portsmouth restaurant in this chain much better."

"After waiting until the last minute to book a restaurant in Chester, I decided to try The Handbridge, as it was just a short walk from the city center. Upon entering, I found the place to be quite calm, but I must say that both the food and service were excellent. It's a pity there wasn't a livelier atmosphere. I imagine that on a busier night outside of January, the place would have a lot more energy, given the quality of the food."

"This was a family lunch the day after our anniversary. I had a duck starter. It cost over £6 and I got 4 minute very fatty pieces of duck, together they totalled the size of 2x50p pieces with two sugar cube sized pieces of something tasting of beetroot. Three of our party had prawn cocktail dumped on a plate and all tasting different (surely not right) Four of us had beef dinners. I had less meat on my plate than anyone else, and 3 of the 4 meat portions were incredibly tough, mine particularly so. We were comped two desserts following my complaint. My chocolate brownie was stale. Not the best experience I've ever had. I feel that the meal was poor value for money, and the food was substandard. Service was fine Quite an amateurishly run kitchen , I thought"

"Wir wiesen zunächst darauf hin, dass mein Mann eine hochwertige Fischproteinallergie hat. Dann kam ein Gruß aus der Küche in Form von Algenbutter, die für uns normalerweise kein Problem darstellt. Nachdem wir und unsere Freunde probiert hatten, stellten wir fest, dass auch Anchovis in der Küche vorhanden waren. Als wir nachfragten, bekamen wir die Antwort, dass sie nicht wüssten, dass wir das nicht selbst machen! Das Essen war lauwarm, auf kalten Tellern serviert. Auf die Frage, warum die Teller nicht vorgeheizt waren, wurde uns gesagt, dass sie keine Möglichkeit haben, die Teller vorzuwärmen! Wir waren in einem Sterne-Restaurant, mehr möchte ich dazu nicht sagen."

"Having been to the Grovesnor before and enjoyed great service and food I was so disappointed by how far it fell short on this visit when we returned with friends. On arrival there was no one at either desk to great us. The restaurant was barely a third full so no excuse of being busy. I had booked a table weeks previous for dinner to find on arrival the table only half laid. Instead of asking us to wait at the bar and providing a drink while this was rectified, we were ushered to sit down and the table laid around us. The was a poor start to an increasingly disappointing evening. Drinks were then offered. My partner asked to taste the beer that was on offer for the evening and we were all served our drinks. However, AT NO POINT DURING THE EVENING did anyone return to find out if he wanted a full pint or something else. For reasons I will outline below, there was no opportunity to get a drink for the rest of the evening so we all had one drink and he had a thimble full. We ordered starters; again fine and the starters were delicious. However, less than 5 minutes later the mains arrived. I asked the staff to take the mains back to the kitchen as we were still eating but they just stood there….we literally had to push our starters to one side to make space for the dinner plates. This is clearly totally unacceptable. We ate as quickly as we could so the food wouldn’t become cold with nobody checking on us, offering drinks or in fact any input at all. Every other table receives copious attention. I just couldn’t understand it. By now we had been in the restaurant for about and hour with three of us having one drink, one a shot glass worth of beer and a rushed meal. Clearly we wouldn’t be ordering pudding and coffee on this occasion. Their service charge was, eventually, removed from the bill but only after asking just leading to embarrassment all round. It seems the staff were totally oblivious to the woeful service that was provided that evening. I very rarely write negative revises and I am just so disappointed that a lovely evening was ruined and cut short. I’m afraid we won’t be returning."

"We made a reservation, which was a smart decision considering how busy the restaurant was. We were seated at a booth table, which wasn't ideal for me because I'm short and couldn't easily move around the velvety material on the seat. The foot rest under the seat made it even more uncomfortable. Luckily, a staff member noticed and kindly moved us to a more suitable table. The food we ordered, including the margarita pizza, was delicious and arrived quickly. However, I didn't care for the dim lighting, which didn't enhance the ambiance. The restaurant was bustling and noisy, so if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing meal with friends, this may not be the best choice. The dim lighting can be seen in the pictures of the restaurant."

"I was really disappointed with the service. It felt like no one knew what they were doing. Although we received a warm welcome and our orders were taken promptly, that was the extent of the service we experienced. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there were plenty of staff around, but we barely received any attention. We didn't get offered any additional drinks, and since we were there to celebrate a 30th birthday, we were hoping to enjoy plenty of cocktails. Eventually, we had to flag someone down to request more drinks ourselves. As for the food, it was just average—edible but nothing special. The ambiance of the place was nice, but the subpar service really ruined the overall experience for us. I don't think I'll be returning."

"A great night last week at the Bunbury Arms in Stoak a murder mystery evening. Everyone got dressed up. It was so much fun. The actors were good and the atmosphere really good. "I recently discovered Happy Cow thanks to Chez Jules, and I'm so happy I did! The dining experience was divine, especially for those looking for a great culinary experience. I don't have much knowledge about French cuisine, but I found the food at this restaurant to be incredibly delicious. I started with a layered dish of roasted carrots, courgette, and aubergine topped with a tasty basil dressing. It was simple but oh so tasty! For dessert, I indulged in a chocolate cake with a berry compote that was out of this world, with a fudge-like texture. Both dishes were luxurious, and I was impressed by the effort put into the vegan options. Even my non-vegan date preferred my choices over their own! I would definitely recommend this restaurant 100%. Additionally, the prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants."

"We arrived at the restaurant mid week early for dinner so restaurant was more or less empty. We were served by a lovely waitress who took our order etc and part way through our starter which was delicious another family were seated in the booth right next to our own. Under normal circumstances there would be no issue in this however the entire family group were continuously coughing the entire duration and considering we are still in a pandemic this made both me and my husband feel extremely uncomfortable. I feel the restaurant should and could have at least tried to seat separate bookings further away from each-other to comply with COVID procedures as much as they can. As a family of 4 we left the restaurant mid way through our main meal as it was so disturbing the coughing coming from all members of the other family booking and went back to our hotel room. We were not the only guests to comment on the situation and the restaurant appeared to be understaffed which possibly cannot be helped under present circumstances."

"I am not one to usually leave a review, however I AM IMPRESSED BEYOND EXPECTATIONS From entering the premises being greatly by friendly front of house team and manager to providing excellent customer service in dealing with all the queries and dealing with an irritable infant supporting to help settle him providing activities to keep him distracted. The service and food was to a 5* restaurant standard, with quick service and high standards if quality and freshness. Replacing cutlery between courses as you 'd expect in a 5* mainstream restaurant. The taste was simply phenomenal with all foods prepared with bursts of flavours complimenting one another delicately. Living up to the signage above the counter to SEIZE THE TASTE City centre location, with ample of parking at the rear in Pay&Display for £1.50. Pity this is not local for me I am RECOMMENDING TO EVERYONE to try and will definitely REVISIT whenever I am in Chester again."

However, when we arrived promptly at 8pm, our table had been given away. We did not have time to wait for another table, as we had already warned them we would be arriving late. Sadly, we left without having dinner. It was truly disappointing."
