"Well, what can I say. What a place! We travelled up from the south to visit family for the weekend and I decided to try here. I was diagnosed with Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) about 3 years ago which is a chronic stomach acid problem it has changed so much of what I can eat my diet has become very bland. I explained to the barmaid she could not do me enough. She listened carefully then she willingly spoke to the chef (who I understood was her dad). Honestly, they were so kind caring went to so much trouble so I could have a meal. The chef even cooked me a jacket potato removed the potato out of it to mash it because I cannot have butter/marg or milk. The plate was a very generous portion size there was a very good selection of fresh vegetables. I cannot praise them enough, I do not know anyone else who has been so helpful when I have eaten out. They took so much care to ensure my meal was right. I had the chicken roast, the chicken was beautifully cooked tasted divine. What a find this place is so you will not be surprised to read that I/we will be back each time we return to visit family. The atmosphere in the whole place was welcoming so friendly. I felt so relaxed comfortable. After all, why would I consider anywhere else after the trouble they went to, the food is outstanding, the service second to none the staff very efficient, friendly welcoming. I would definitely without a doubt recommend this pub to anyone thinking of visiting. You will not be disappointed. If we lived in the area this pub would be my local, I cannot fault the pub, staff or service at all for both food or drink. My husband had the beef he was well pleased with it, he also had the large trust me it was large!! I had regular for me that was like a large!!"

"After the lockdown, we were eager for refreshments during our visits to Hardwick Hall and its beautiful parkland. Unfortunately, the food offerings have not improved. The menu now consists mostly of pre-packaged sandwiches, sausage rolls, soup, baked potatoes, biscuits, cakes, and scones. Previously, they used to offer proper main dishes. On a recent visit, the service was disorganized, with staff members apologizing for a shortage of personnel and struggling to keep up. This led to long waits and a crowded counter area. Such restaurants used to enhance the experience of visiting a National Trust property, but now they detract from it. It's time for the National Trust to improve their food and service."

"Use to love Andy's but think it must have been taken over last few years as taken a massive decline. Expect to pay 4 quid for a large chips that comes in a cardboard box that's only half full and a tiny portion. They should ditch the box and go back to wrapping in paper. I do feel the box is to pass it off that your chip portion is larger than it is. Not a one off as returned several times thinking the last time must be an error and had been given small chips. Clearly not and they just give small portions. I would hate to see a regular size . Must be microscopic. Rip off compared to other chippies which I will now use."

"We dine at Pizza Hut regularly so we know what’s what, we aren’t unfamiliar with things here. We haven’t however been since COVID and the experience is somewhat strange at least when compared to other restaurants. The 2*’s is for the food, nothing ‘wrong’...with the pizza and sides, came out piping hot and delicious. Our issues were with the ordering experience and salad bar. There is no option to order with a member of staff, you HAVE to order on their website while sat at your table, you also HAVE to pay card, you CANNOT pay cash and you CANNOT use a gift card, its non negotiable. We’ve not come across this post COVID, all other restaurants allow cash payments and an alternative if you don’t or cant order on an app. The next issue was with the salad bar, this is their strange part. Take Harvester for example; the salad bars are open, but the servers get it for you and plate it up. In Pizza Hut you can choose between Green Salad, Coleslaw, Potato Salad or Bacon Bits (Yes just four choices) and you can only choose one on their online ordering system, extras are £1 per choice. So you cant have Salad with Coleslaw and Bacon Bits, the system doesn’t allow this and it would cost £2 extra. I don’t think we will be back until this post COVID experience is changed we understand changes need to be made, but we eat out every week at least once, and have done through COVID and haven’t had any strange issues like this before."

"If you come across the bakewell tart, definitely try it. It was absolutely delicious. The burger was decent, nothing extraordinary, but I found the sides to be more enjoyable. The pie was unique, with a pastry that wasn't quite what I expected - it wasn't flakey, but more of a hard, buttery pastry that crumbled easily. The filling was okay. I preferred the mashed potatoes and cabbage. The lighting in the restaurant was overly bright and intense, especially if you are seated in the middle of the room. Overall, the restaurant is good."

"On my way home, I stopped at a restaurant for fish and chips to eat in the car. The small chips were surprisingly large, but unfortunately they were poorly wrapped by a young employee in need of more training. The two small cod pieces I ordered were already cooked and kept warm. The cod itself was okay, but the batter was inedible. It was slightly crispy on the outside but spongy and soggy underneath, unlike any batter I've had before. I ended up just eating the fish and feeling like I wasted my money. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant."

"For dessert, we indulged in a s'mores pizza loaded with toppings—my first-ever dessert pizza, and it was amazing! The melted marshmallows simply melted in your mouth; it was pure bliss. When it came time to explore the cat room, all the cats were so friendly and outgoing. They happily jumped into my lap for some pets and even climbed onto my back and shoulders—cuteness overload! The cats seemed to get along well, establishing their own hierarchy within the group. The room itself was nicely arranged and clean when we arrived. While relaxing with the cats, we also played on the Nintendo Switch, which added to the fun experience. Overall, my visit was a 10/10 thanks to the welcoming staff and the inclusive atmosphere. The owner clearly has a deep passion for what he does and takes great care in ensuring everyone feels valued. I can’t wait to book another visit and highly recommend this cafe! **Kid-friendliness:** The environment is kid-friendly, as long as parents supervise their children. **Wheelchair accessibility:** There is a wheelchair ramp for those who need it, providing a separate entrance for accessibility."

"I thought Dick Turpin died years ago but he is alive and well at the Meadowfresh butchers at Arrow Farm. I ordered my usual Xmas Turkey special, the same as I have had for several years, last years price was around £40. Now I accept with the current inflation, things would be more expensive and I was expecting about 50 quid or so. Imagine my astonishment when I collected the order today and was asked for a few pence short of £80. I quizzed Dick and was told there was noting he could do! Now with a family depending on this turkey and it being too short notice now to shop elsewhere I paid and left. My advise is this: Unless you are a millionaire with cash to burn, steer clear of these rob dogs, I certainly will never use them again."

"I ordered the duck and pancakes, but it was so burnt that my daughter couldn't eat it. I also had the beef in black bean, and both the smell and taste were absolutely terrible. It was a major disappointment after waiting an hour and a half for our food. We tried calling, but there was no answer, so unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to throw everything away. "The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the eating area was clean and tidy. We had battered mushrooms with garlic dip which were very disappointing as they were soggy and not crispy as expected to have with a garlic dip. The dip was quite runny too so didn't work well with the mushrooms. Previously, De Rhodes Arms did breaded mushrooms which were very crispy and juicy served with a thick garlic dip which was delicious, these were much better in my opinion. We then had pizzas which were very nice, the only complaint is that there is far too much cheese on them and can be difficult to eat and drowns out the other flavours on the pizza."

"I visited for the first time recently, and it was an even better experience thanks to a 50% discount voucher for my main meal. The food was delicious; I had the double blue burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. It arrived fairly quickly, too. The salad bar wasn't self-service yet, but the staff were very pleasant. The little bread roll was a bit tough; I'm not sure if that’s the norm or if I just got an off one, but it didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the meal. The atmosphere felt clean and welcoming all around. My only critique is that the exterior of the restaurant seemed a bit tired and worn, and it could use more lighting to brighten it up. However, all the staff were friendly and welcoming, so leaving a decent tip was an easy decision."
