"Lovely afternoon tea, but unfortunately the restaurant staff let the experience down. On arrival we checked in at the hotel reception at 2.50pm and produced a Virgin Experience Days voucher. The receptionist suggested that we go and check into the restaurant and she assured me that she would bring us the printed voucher to us. I also enquired if we could have the knight 's afternoon tea with the voucher that we had and would it cost any more, as it appears on your menu saying it would be £3 extra each. The receptionist confirmed that there would be no extra charge. On entering the restaurant an middle aged Eastern European lady took our order and stated that we would have to forfeit an extra charge. I explained to her that the receptionist said there was no extra charge. She made a comment The reception don 't know what they are talking about. This was the first point of being made to feel uncomfortable. By the end of our afternoon tea, the receptionist had not brought our voucher to us as we were originally advised that she would do so. Myself and my husband got up to leave to collect the voucher from the reception and a young waitress came after us saying My colleague said that you need to come back and pay. I advised her that I was going to reception to get the print out that I was awaiting and enquire as to why I had been miss informed about the charges. While waiting at the reception. The original receptionist had finished her shift. I spoke to another receptionist who said that no voucher had been sent. I checked my email sent box and it had been sent. While at the reception the older lady from the restaurant came after us saying the we had to pay an extra cost. There were several other people at the reception at this point and I felt so humiliated with her behaviour towards me. It was as if she thought that we were going to run out without sorting things out. The receptionist waiverd the charges. To be quite honest the whole experience at Coombe Abbey was extremely disappointing. After the experience I sent an email to the hotel manager on the Mon evening. By Wednesday, still no had any acknowledgement of my complaint so I called the hotel. Was advised that the manager had just returned from his annual leave, but was assured that someone would be in contact with me that day. This did not happen, so I called the hotel again on the Thursday got to speak to the manager who really didn 't seem to be bothered about the poor service that we received. Blamed the problem on the Virgin voucher system and offered us a free glass of prosseco the next time we were there. REALLY!! what a waste of time trying to get things sorted and a waste of money on the purchase of the voucher."

"One of the best Indian meals I have had in a long time. Has one dish from the signature and one from the specials. Chicken cooked beautifully, curry sauces were superb, and the paratha was quite probably the best I ever had. If I really had to find fault then I would say the prawn puree could have been tastier and a couple of pieces of lamb weren't quite tender enough but they still much better than other Indians, so I am being lucky here. Meal for 2 was 38 pounds, almost parked outside the door, street parking after 7. We live too far away but we will be going back when we are next passing. A jem of a place."

"Very dog friendly restaurant. Reserved a table online and dog was allowed in the main seating area, so you are not made to sit outside or anywhere awkward. Order by table service, very efficient and not a long wait. Food came out well cooked, tasty and exactly as ordered. Staff very helpful and friendly too. I would recommend."

"Fun experience! As a non Korean this was a great experience! We fancied something completely different, so why not cook your own food at a Korean BBQ joint! The menu had a wide range of choices, whether that be meat or vegetarian Plenty of side disses to accompany your choice of main (tteokbokki being my favourite! We had beef rib eye and chicken thighs for our meat which were both delicious. The steak was sliced ~1cm thick so cooked very quickly on the hot coals, it was so juicy. Accompanying dishes were the squid (very different texture to what I’m used too, it was ‘snappy’ in texture not soft . Tteokbokki was deliciousssss, chewy rice cakes covered in a hot spicy gochujang sauce, so so good. Garlic covered chips, the best chips ever. If you love garlic. Get these. The waiter didn’t speak great English, but that’s not a problem to me. We worked out what we wanted by pointing to the menu! Very good evening out! Would definitely come again, especially with a group of friends so we can order a couple of beer towers!"

"Recently, my family and I ordered takeaway from this restaurant, including 3 servings of madras curry, 1 korma curry with pilau rice, chips (fries), keema naan, and chilli cheese naan. We received our order on 27/09/2023, but we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. The chicken in the curries was dry and there was more sauce than actual meat. The pieces of chicken were very small, and the naan breads had barely any flavor of cheese or chillies. Overall, the food was bland and not worth the money we spent. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again."

"awful and cold, does it have a hygienic assessment? here on 4/3/20 and it was really cold. the pictures are from the entrance to the gents and the fire escape was open. Look at that! I had a meeting with my... consultant who suggested this place, so can also see the Liverpool game. sat on the gents and was shocked. space is not very clean. it seems that the owners have not disturbed the completion of the construction work. food ordered: fish pakora- to oily huhn kebab probably the best thing lamb kebab nothing special cheese chilli naan soft, hot and cheesy. perfect to be fair chicken curry flavors like a balti. large piece huh, prefab sose and sweet. not fresh! I guess being coventry will probably attract some locals, but no point when visiting! drinks are cheap"

"This is one of the best if not the best steak I have eaten in a long time! I would rate it 6 stars out of 5! The service was excellent. The owners Claire and Lee (chef) were very hospitable and we had a good time chatting. I was most thankful that they kept the restaurant opened even after we went in at almost closing time. I would strongly recommend anyone who wants a good steak not to miss out on your restaurant!!!"

"We booked this restaurant for a meal with family visiting from America and were treated exceptionally well. Our party of 16+ people was accommodated with ease by the staff. It was also a 21st birthday celebration, and they allowed us to decorate with banners and balloons. We preordered our meals, and when we were seated, the food was promptly served, hot, well-presented, and delicious. We had no complaints whatsoever. The price was very reasonable, and we all had a fantastic evening. The staff were all lovely and extremely helpful. Thank you to everyone for making this a memorable and enjoyable evening."

"I discovered turmeric gold on coventry's unique medieval spon street when I was in the city in business. I was greeted with a cordial greeting and a shot of Lassi, and I was asked if I had any food requirements right away. I chose the...vegetarian menu and sat at a very cozy stand in the heart of the atmospheric interior of the restaurant. all staff were exceptionally friendly and I was made to feel like home, even a few amuse bouche while waiting for my main course. I chose the dakeswari aloo paneer, which is milder than I would normally go, but I had a good feeling that it was exactly the right balance of enough and saw with a light sweet and a velvety smooth engraving. the court has my very high expectations, even with extra gravy on the side. the portion size was perfect and would have been more than enough on itself, although after a little overconvincing, it turned out that I had space for dessert eventually. the carrot neck and the accompanying rich ice chips were simply divine and rounded a flawless and unforgettable visit. curkuma gold is culinary gold and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!"

"I really enjoyed my early evening meal with friends here whilst staying in Coventry. There was a good variety of authentic arabic food, though no alcohol. I would have liked a beer with my meal but it did not spoil my enjoyment of the food. It may be an issue for some diners. Very reasonably priced and good sized portions. "Orders through just eat and the deliver time was an hour and ten minutes. After this time the app updated to say the food had been delivered but nothing had arrived. I rang direct and was told that the order had been lost in the kitchen and hadn't even been processed. Promised it would be delivered within half an hour. I rang again 45 minutes later and was told it was on the way. Order didn't arrive until a further 25 minutes later. Driver was apologetic and said a driver had broken down. Might have been believable if it hadn't been for the initial mistake with the order and the 2 hour delay. He offered half price next time but I assured him there wouldn't be a next time after such poor service. Sat down to cold food at 9pm after placing the order at 6.19pm. Just awful. Avoid at all costs."

"Discovered this place by accident and was not disappointed. A wonderful gem hidden away in the heart of the shopping district in Coventry city, opp West Orchids shopping centre. It is a family business, hence the attention to detail in service, quality of food and shop decor. Enchanting and relaxing. The ambience was just great and I love the Oriental/Middle Eastern vibe inside. This is not a greasy spoons cafe nor is it a pompous high-end restaurant. However, it is a place for great food and provides a place to unwind and retreat from the world outside. I came for a late lunch (a halal lamb wrap with chips) which was absolutely delicious. Knowing I was staying one night in Coventry and having checked the menu, I decided was going to return for the vegetarian breakfast the next day. Again, I was not disappointed. The ambience was great, food was fantastic and staff polite and welcoming. I would give Bagel Brunch 6 stars if I could. Can't praise it enough. I returned to Bagel Brunch yesterday and again, was not disappointed. The place was buzzing as expected. This time I ordered a chicken bagel and it was the best bagel I’ve had in a long time! The yoghurt and mint dressing with chicken, in a lightly toasted sesame bagel, were just the perfect combination. Staff are always polite. I hope this family business bounces back in leaps and bounds after Covid. They deserve to continue to do well."
