"Called in here after a walk around Fewston reservoir, and it was fantastic. It looks great from the outside and doesn't disappoint inside, it's a proper pub. I was fascinated by the history and the ladies behind the bar were knowledgeable about it. The original 18th century part is well maintained and large extension to the rear is well within keeping of the original style. There are some fantastic old photos on the wall too, well worth a look. Called in with my young family and the staff were really friendly and accommodating for my young family. The menu is perfect, exactly what you'd want from a British Pub, not trying to be anything it isn't and missing the mark but doing good British pub food. It delivered too! Food arrived quickly which was helpful with impatient little ones. The steak pie was incredible, big portion, full of tender meat and rich gravy. My wife had fish cakes which she said were really good, and kids were happy with theirs. Nice choice of beers too, Timothy Taylor's enough said, went perfectly with steak pie. It was also really pleasantly surprising in a pub like this to have such forward thinking baby changing options; separate toilet just for this, with creams, wipes etc provided in case you didn't have your own. Left very satisfied and looking forward to returning soon. Well done to all staff, and don't change or lose the fantastic identify and product you have that so many others don't."

"We were visiting Harrogate for my fiancée 's birthday but unfortunately Haks (our favourite Chinese was closed for the week. I saw that the Cambridge Café had good feedback so we took a stroll up there. We got there at 6pm. There was a man and a woman inside who were obviously the owners and their kids were sat at a table eating. The door however had closed written on it and that they were only taking Just Eat orders. We walked back to our apartment, also passing another Chinese takeaway called Rice . I thought about ordering from the latter, but decided to get back and get a meal delivered from Cambridge Café. Firstly I thought the layout of the dishes being within subsections on the menu was cumbersome and silly. We ordered prawn crackers, prawn toast (they don 't do seaweed?! , spring rolls, noodles, egg fried rice, chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken. The prawn crackers are supposedly quality Vietnamese ones that, in reality taste like all the others we have had! I absolutely loved the prawn toast but my fiancée wasn 't a fan. They were chunky and flavoursome. Veggie spring rolls were bland and tasteless, noodles and rice were OK. The sweet and sour chicken was very nice. I found the chicken curry a bit weak, it tasted dumbed down. Overall it was a fairly average meal with the prawn toast for me being a surprise highlight. On reflection however we would not eat from there again as better alternatives are available."

"Booked afternoon tea for me and a friend after looking at several excellent trip advisor reviews (I should have read more! . We paid £32.95 each plus £8.95 each for small bottle (one glass size of Prosecco We thought from the menu that we would get a variety of sandwiches but only got a choice of 1 each (2 fillings had a supplementary charge . When the food arrived we were soooo disappointed. The sandwiches were incredibly ordinary. No fancy bread or cut nicely. The ‘home made’ cakes on top were visually boring. A couple of fairy cakes with watery icing and 2 pieces of very small millionaires shortbread that looked ‘old’. The scones however looked and tasted lovely. And 2 teacups with very small portions of Eton mess were also nice. There was absolutely NOTHING special that warranted such a huge price! Nothing at all. We asked for the cakes to be boxed up and we ate them on our train journey home. The fairy cake was just ok and the millionaires shortbread did indeed taste old. On the way back to the train station we called at another place (Mama Doreen’s emporium for a drink and the afternoon teas that they were serving were incredible. We found out they were £25 each ! I don’t believe in posting a bad review on here without making the place aware first. I’ve sent them a message but had no reply. Hence I have no qualms posting this review."
