"The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular."

"First the positives. The restaurant is really nicely set out, the decor 's good, the music was good and it was dog friendly always nice to see a dog in a bar/restaurant. However. They have managed to invent a non existent problem by a cool menu free/human contact free ordering system via QR code and smart phone. It was a ridiculously complicated rigmarole involving setting up an account, adding a card etc etc. It wasn 't as if it speeded anything up or made it easier for the staff either. Our drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and I had to remind them of it before I got them we weren 't alone in that either; in fact the staff seemed to spend more time wandering aimlessly around with trays of drinks or food not knowing where to deliver them. This probably explained their overall surliness. Our food arrived on time, but was pretty underwhelming when it did. In summary nice place, decent atmosphere, ridiculous ordering system, poor service and very average food. I won 't be coming back."

"We were a family of four, 2 adults, 2 children, 10 and 7. The atmosphere wasn't great because it was fairly quiet (though we were late arriving for our booking at nearly 2pm on a Saturday). We were put on a table in a room to the side next to an elderly couple. The room maybe had space for 20 covers or so and there was no background noise or music. It was slow getting orders placed. There were pods on the tables to summon the staff and it felt like they waited for thosenbefore attending, rather than keeping a watching brief. The kids and my wife enjoyed their food. My starter was smoked pigs cheeks which were very tender, but the sauce was dull and the smoky flavour too subtle. My main was a lamb rump dish. The lamb was dry and overcooked with scorched cauliflower and chickpeas. These left an unpleasant, gritty residue that left you waiting for horrible, unexpected crunches on your teeth. The kids' dessert was poor value. It was £6.50 for a single scoop of ice cream on a crumb and, curiously, my daughter's dessert was sticky toffee pudding, which was a big portion of pudding and the same sized portion of ice cream, for the same £6.50. A glass of sauvignon was around £11. Overall not terrible but struggling to justify £125 for a lunch for two adults and two kids."

"Kayleigh Murphy and Zoe Ryan what a load of tosh. We were in the restaurant when these people arrived only wanting to use the toilet services, the staff politely declined at which point the group of girls were extremely rude threatening to go to the toilet on the premises floor. Our experience of the Nelson has been lovely all the staff are friendly and polite."

"Had some friends coming to stay with us so decided to call up to get takeout from here. Easy process to call and order and agree a collection time. I turned up at the agreed time and paid for my order, and a few minutes later the food came out. (Didn't realise that their takeaway prices were so much cheaper than the prices shown on their website, so that was very welcome! Pasta portions were a good size and tasty. Pizzas were good as far as the cheese and toppings (plenty of them and very tasty . Personally I don't like their pizza crusts as they are not doughy and soft like some other restaurants do it, but I get that's my opinion and everyone's idea of a good pizza is very different. (I've had their calzones before and they amazing, but they're so big you have to be very very hungry! "great meal. we go to harrogate to spa and then to graveleys for a meal when they can get all kinds of fish and seafood this is the place, it is not just a fish and chip store they can get other things. the starters are good, we share in the rule the portions generous my wife likes the fish cake, which is a good value and a healthy one. I have the Graveleys fish special. this is like a large mixed grill, but in fish with muscheln muscheln garnelen, garnel roy prawn and tiger garnel, two species of skalopps with a large piece of fish of the day choose them from the menu in the rule either halibut, lachs thunfisch or schell, with a garlic chiplauch butter (the photo does not make it fair). the salat is not your usual piece salat and tomato. we were 3 times, we book in the rule as it is its clean and tidy and the staff efficient and the price is not astronomical. meal for 2 with drinks £45 have recommended it to many friends to visit harrogate."

"There isn’t really anything “wow” to say about Buon Gusto, other than everything was simply, ok.The food was ok. The service was ok and the interior decor was just…ok.My expectations may have been set a little too high, but at least I now know that it wouldn’t be worth the 45 minute (each way) drive for “ok” food.The restaurant is close to a multi-storey car park which makes parking a little easier. And I’m not entirely sure if the entrance is pram or wheelchair friendly, so this would be worth checking before booking as there are 3 or 4 steps which are quite steep."

"Absolutely amazing food. I had the 6 ounce fillet steak and it was absolutely fantastic. The presentation was also beautiful and it Also had a very spacious interior. Having dinner here with my family was great and my sister also thoroughly enjoyed her colossal sized fish and chips. There is also a wide range of luxurious desserts. Finally, I commend where it is situated and has a beautiful view. Great dinner"

"It is a real shame that I'm not a coffee drinker as the reviews here all appear to praise the coffee at this place. For my part, I was looking for a quick bite prior to attending a conference at the convention centre nearby. I popped in on the off chance and saw bagels on the menu, which was ideal. I found a stool at the wall counter and was served pretty quickly with a fresh toasted bagel with jam and butter. Although this place is fairly small, it began to fill up so I couldn't stay long. It is clearly popular, so definitely worth a visit if you're in the area."

"Dropped on this cafe. cake shop this morning around 10.30am and as we entered we were informed that they were operating a reduced menu , due to staff shortage.......not a worry on this score, as the four individual meals that we received were just short of brilliant .. Well presented and very tasty . The four of us were well impressed and we are seasoned travellers..........as we were in the far part of the cafe , it wasn't until we came to pay the bill that we noticed that the cafe was packed, and we know why.... Lovely cakes and pies were also displayed and no doubt were just as delicious ...... Well worth at least at a try but we will be back ....."

"it was clear from the beginning that this place represents food and service. the welcome of the crew was also excellent with humor and very friendly! the menu is sufficiently different to be fascinating and we were not disappointed at all. the food aids were generous, the extreme, we really needed to accelerate if we were to keep our up to dessert! we have this manufactory under control and I started with the prawn cocktail, which was exactly as expected, it was super and delicious. my head was really tasteful and it was unique in the mix of the aromen served. Whoever cooked it loves cooking. I have even a little space for the common dessert, a very! subtle licorice crème brûlée with an excellent alcohol coffee. Oh! the wine offer also agreed with the food, and the prices of everything were correct. we all enjoyed a wonderful evening!"

"Booked this charming country inn for 3 nights, decided to stay an extra night after only 10 minutes in the place. The bar /dining area had such character, breakfast was exceptional, room was amazing, but the staff were the best we have ever encountered. Bar staff were great, the chef and kitchen staff so friendly when you pass by the kitchen, but the stars of the show were the manager Steve who interacted with everyone, so friendly, helpful, and a fountain of knowledge. The star of the show was Joe who looked after us at breakfast each morning, no words to describe his pleasant manner, if you could encounter this guy at breakfast every morning you would start each day with an incredible ray of sunshine, regardless of the weather. Thank you to all the staff at the Grantham Arms for making our stay so perfect and memorable. Will definitely be back there again.."

"Real shame, only went in for a beer after a lovely walk nearby. Got served at the bar by a lovely blonde haired barmaid, the other younger dark haired barmaid was a more frosty, we had our dog and she didn't make us feel welcome, we had another drink and was served by the frosty barmaid !! If you want to work in a tourist pub then at least try and be nice or get a different job. Will not be going again, we were going to go for an evening meal, we'll spend our money at a different more welcoming pub."

"We journeyed to Masham to sample the best beer in the world Theakston’s Old Peculier at its source. As the WB is the brewer’s own pub and just yards from the brewery, we were not disappointed. The ales are perfectly kept and deliciously fresh and flavoursome. Meanwhile, the WB surroundings and furnishings etc are vintage though not dowdy (the restaurant part of the pub is more contemporary and light) and there’s a good fire going when it’s cold. Add to all this good service, a few decent bar food staples, a friendly crowd of local regulars, and a characterful pub dog (Theo) and you just might have the ideal English pub."

"*The chef came out and shouted at my family whilst we were trying to enjoy my birthday meal* We visited Saturday 9th April at 5pm to celebrate my birthday. Myself, husband, 2 babies, my mum, dad and brother. We had ordered our food and enjoyed...our starter dishes. Food we had tried was really tasty. Then we had also ordered 2 mixed lamb/chicken souvlakis. Husbands was fine, my brothers lamb however was very chewy, rubbery and difficult to cut into. We told the waitress who was reluctant to take it back to the kitchen. She said to order a new dish and she would take it off the bill. My brother said he just wanted the lamb replacing. Next thing, THE CHEF has come out and proceeded to SHOUT at my brother. Telling him it is from the same animal, he cannot cook it differently, etc and then stormed off!! We were in absolute shock!! We didn’t want to continue our meal, being spoken to like that. Another man came to us saying he is sorry, the Chef is the owner what can he do to help. We asked for the bill for the starters we had eaten and that we would not be staying to eat another thing. The man who I assume is the actual owner) did just charge us for what we had eaten but we left a table full of food because of the way the Chef came out and shouted at us. We were not going to continue eating and paying to be spoken to like that! Never experienced anything like it! The food we had tried (apart from lamb souvlaki) was nice. But this ruined my birthday and we will not be going back again."

"I was with a group of 35+ ramblers who enjoyed a pre-ordered, early evening meal from the Christmas Menu a last week. The quality and quantity of the food was very good at a time when many establishments allow their standard to slip. We were very pleasantly surprised when each table was offered a complementary carafe of port to accompany our mince pies and coffee! The tables were beautifully decorated and the service prompt as well as friendly. Real value for money at £19. With the roaring log fires and Christmas tree it all made for a wonderful finish to our day, much of which had been spent walking in the fog."
