"As you enter you can see the sushi bar on the left and the restaurant on the right. You can order all food in both places so it purely depends on where you want to sit. When we entered we were told we had to sign in either by the app or give our name and address. I am not sure how people will feel about this as restrictions such as this have been lifted at the moment and is no longer mandatory. I completed my name and address as I had the feeling I would not be allowed to eat here if I didnt. We opted to sit at the sushi bar area as we hadn't booked and liked the idea of just picking up starters as they came around to us. Prosecco 4.95 125ml measure. I was a nice prosecco but it looked very small due to the bog glasses used so maybe smaller glasses should be used or charge more but fill the glass a bit more as alot of restaurants around here actually go up to 200ml so it's presented better in bigger glasses. We picked up four sushi plates , two were salmon , one was prawn and one was Eel. All of them had great flavours in the rice and the fish used was seasoned well and you could tell it was great quaility. Salmon nice kick ,good quaility tuna White dish £3.25 Green dish £2.25 Blue dish £4.25 We ordered some Teriyaki dishes as well, I ordered us the chicken Gyro as she had never tried it and it is one of my favourite dishes. It perfectly cooked abd my friend commented on how tasty it was £4.95 Chicken Teriyaki Bonburi My friend had it and said straight away it was tasty, she couldn't finish it but she really enjoyed it. £9.45. Prawn katsu I have never had it before so I was interested in trying it, very nice thick curry abd very good quaility prawbs. Rice was cooked perfectly , great meal. £10.25 Service was strange as some of it was very good such As one young lad checked if our meals were OK and when we requested some wasabi and ginger theyvwere happy to accomodate but we were never asked if we we wanted another drink , if we needed anything else and when we were looking to pay the staff member was a bit blunt that if we were paying by card we had to go to the till in the restaurant, which was fine but there are ways to say things and it came across a bit blunt. The young lad that checked on our food was lovely , he was the only member of staff that showed us much interest. The food deserved a tip but service except one lad did not. As I know the kitchen rarely gets any of the tips in restaurants I didnt feel I could give one on this ocassion. The food was fantastic!! And the service was not awful but it was lacking on this ocassion except for one member of the team."

"I stayed here during my 2023 John O'Groats to Lands End ride, when I was accompanied by my wife and 13 year old son, who were acting as support crew. The Sun Hotel is a quirky boutique hotel housed in an historic building with extensive accommodation located above the pub and accessed via a unique flight of stairs and a labyrinth of intriguing corridors set out on different floors. Indeed, as you wander through, you are able to learn much about its character and history from many informative notes displayed on the walls. We shared a snug family room with a camp bed for our son but we were very comfortable. Our ensuite bathroom was clean and bright with a bath, shower and toiletries provided. The usual kettle, tea and coffee were provided but with limited alternative options. Make sure you turn off the provided digital alarm clock before slumbers unless you need an early start! There are truly are some larks out there. The room was a little noisy overnight where it was overlooking the street at the front – a combination of late night revellers and morning deliveries – but this is to be expected when you stay in the heart of a city. Lancaster was literally right on our doorstep. The staff were incredibly welcoming and approachable even before our stay responding promptly to any queries we had. We enjoyed dinner in the pub on the ground floor which was not overly noisy with a good atmosphere and attentive staff. The food was good and inexpensive, especially if you share a platter. Having booked direct with the hotel, our stay included breakfast from a set menu, served in the bar area downstairs. This was extensive ranging from the traditional cooked full English breakfast to many plant based and fruit alternatives, including pancakes, acai smoothie and granola jar. It is advisable to pre book this the night before to reduce waiting times in the morning if you are in a rush. Tea, coffee and fruit juice freely available The hotel is found on a complicated one way system with heavy traffic but well handled by Google. The cycle route approaches on quiet canal path but I did push up a one way street to the hotel rather than cycle a circuitous route around the one way. The only drawback is that there is no onsite parking not a problem if you only have a bike. At the time of our stay, there was paid street parking outside the hotel on the road for up to 1 hr or free overnight from 6 pm until 8 am. We would advise checking Google for parking locations beforehand to find alternatives, especially if the recommended nearby multi storey parking is not suitable because of a roof box, etc. My bike was locked away in a cellar inside, down a steep flight of stairs and only accessible by staff."

"the greeting we received was easy to puzzling as we were not sure whether the merciful friendly, rude or bipolar was. a regular village beacon that offers the usual bar menu with very little imagination, so punters get what they deserve, I suppose. there was...”Minty lancashire Hotpot” on the special board, that is one of my favorite dishes all the time, and considering that very few restaurants in lancaster had it actually on the menu, it was for me. what an unauthorized catastrophe. hotpot should be an unpretentious lamb stew, full of carrots and swirls with a lid of cut kartoffels often cooked for an hour or so. Of course, this process must be carried out in a restaurant situation in advance so that it can be served as quickly as possible to the customer. what happened? a catastrophe that is it. As they could even serve the scandal that has arrived before me without showing any embarrassment, it shows that they do not care what the coke looked at them. to the left over boiled lamb, fed into a smoker and covered with sourté potatoes is not a hotpot. it was one of the worst dishes of the “food” I would ever meet and not even consider feeding it to my dog; and if I did, she would not eat it, and she eats everything. they accused themselves of this monstrosity of a teller, and no word was said when they removed it from the table after I had left it after eating two pieces of mouth. they probably knew what I would have said if they even wanted to ask themselves. I am not shy, pubs and restaurants to tell what is good or bad about eating that they serve me, but for once I was stupidly hit that something that should be too right in that was actually served one of their customers. When we waited for the food to arrive, I heard one of the customers who had arrived after telling us that the last part of the hotpot had been sold and it was from the menu. I was slightly fucked that I was this guy, but I wish I was the guy who just missed."
