"Far Pavilion, 25 Bypass Road, Bolton-Le-Sands, Carnforth LA5 8JA Tel: 01524 823316 Date of visit: 21st October 2023. I have reviewed this excellent establishment many times over the years, the last time being in January of this year. Consistently good, with friendly attentive staff, who have been with them for many years in most cases. A family run business now run by the original owner’s son, Sam. Situated on the A6 near Carnforth on the edge of the lake district well worth the effort to visit and look around. Just a few miles from Lake Windermere. Tonight, I choose from their extensive and varied menu Pop’s with the excellent pickle tray. As on this occasion I took a friend we decided on the mixed Starter for two which consisted of, Chicken Pakoras, Shish Kebabs, Onion Baji, chicken Tika, with a selection of dips the mint dip being particularly worthy of a mention. Next round was for me, Chicken Ceylon, Now I have to say that this dish was excellent, big soft succulent chunks of chicken breast in a well spiced three chilli, coconut sauce. Trust me one of the best I’ve had for a very long time. My friend went for the Butter chicken on my advice but unfortunately, it was a little on the sweet side for her. Soft fragrant fluffy Pilau rice and an excellent peshwari Naan completed the order. As I was not driving, I allowed myself the indulgence of two pints of Cobra to help it all down. This place will continue to be up there in my top five restaurants. Just a shame it is not nearer to where I live! Parking no problem £65.00 for the quality is more than acceptable. 9.5 /10"

"We visited the cafe as part of our visit to the reserve which we usually enjoy. The cafe isn't fully open yet, only take away so tables are provided outside. It was a nice sunny day so that wasn't particularly a problem. However in my...view the one way system is Ill considered giving people the long walk around the building once they are loaded up with their hot drinks and snacks. It would seem more sensible to have the entry to the cafe through the shop or by the toilets and then have the shorter walk from side door out to the outdoors tables. I had a ham salad sandwich which was ok, however I noticed that the bread was a bit dry, I suspect not baked freshly that day. I suspect maybe they had over bought for the bank holiday if visitor numbers didn't live up to the predicted numbers. Disposable cups for the tea and coffee, which is not ideal going forward and I hope that normal service will be resumed very soon. My husband had the scone and jam and found that the scone was ok but again, not freshly baked. There was no knife or other implement to spread the cream and jam so he had to improvise with my tea stirring stick which doesn't quite feel the same special experience! We didn't feel we could go back as it would have meant taking on the long winded one way system. I don't understand why the cafe isn't fully open as we are allowed indoor hospitality now and there are lots of Windows to open up there. However, we were at least able to get some refreshment for which we were very grateful."
