"We return here each time in the hope that things improve. Unfortunately nothing does!! The bike cafe has been ‘temporarily’ housed under a fixed marquee , which joins on to an open, large room for about 18m now. Fully equipped and to all intents and purposes, permanent. The food is good, but the service is deplorable. The system seems to be that only designated people take the order, or should I say designated person. I’ve never seen more than one. The waiting staff who can’t take orders, consists mostly of young people hanging around chatting. No one has any sense of urgency or duty. I was watching behind the counter after our order had been taken. About 5/6 people were behind the counter, drinking coffee or water and eating. They were chatting about where they were going that evening. One guy was making coffee. Two coffees went out the back, to staff presumably, and after what seemed ages, our coffee was done. By now, all the staff had disappeared. Then a guy appeared took the coffees but didn’t know which table they were for. Our food appeared, (she didn’t know which table they were for either). I had the jumbo hot dog which was, without exaggeration, the most charred sausage I’ve ever seen. I said I couldn’t eat it and the girl quickly offered to replace it. BUT WHO ON EARTH THOUGH THAT IT WOULD BE OK TO SERVE IT? I’ve no idea who, if anyone is in charge in this cafe, a young girl did go and sit with her lap top, looking officious, next to colleague who was eating his brought in lunch, but she didn’t appear to have any authority or awareness of the appalling service. We have had this experience a number of times (minus the charred sausage) but nothing seems to change. Doddington are missing a trick here as although not heaving, it was busy. I do hope they don’t blame the temporary situation as that’s no excuse. There are plenty of staff and there is plenty of good food. Buck your ideas up!!"

"I really like the food and it would unquestionably be my first choice for Indian even though it's also one of the more pricey in the local area if it weren't for the unapologetically slow service. I ordered quite a bit ahead of time a few months ago but, when I went to pick up the food at the agreed time, I still had to wait well over 20 minutes so can only assume that they forgot about my order and didn't start cooking until I got there. They shrugged it off and said they were busy. I decided to give them another chance on Saturday, ordering before 6pm so I hadn't anticipated it getting mad for orders yet. However, they were already really busy and it was hard to get through but they called back (fairly promptly , took my order and after taking my money, informed me that the food would be with me in around 2 hours. I commented at the time that they should have said this first as I would have ordered something from elsewhere (I'm guessing this is why they didn't! . The food arrived 2hrs 50 later (with no apology about the delay or any kind of recompense good will gesture and whilst it tasted as good as previous experiences, I was a bit disappointed to find that my husband didn't have any extra coriander he'd requested and that I'd been charged extra for masala sauce. (I don't like the veg sauce that comes with biriani so asked if it could be swapped out, the person who took my order checked and said yes so I'd not anticipated being charged. If I'd known it would be treated as an extra instead of a swap, I'd have kept the veg sauce for my husband to eat the next day since that had effectively been paid for too . I'm pleased that a local business is doing so well BUT please get better at time management so the food is ready when you say it will be and if it is going to take longer than an hour, you really ought to say that straight away and definitely before backing someone in to a corner once taking their money. It's unlikely we will use them again because I just don't think they care that much about the customers once they've had the money."

"We went in for lunch today and wow what a disappointment. We walked in the bar/lounge area and wanted to get a drink. To start off we only had the choice of with 3 beers on tap, and not good beers either. After that we went through to the restaurant with chains hanging over the doors which nearly knocked our drinks over, its like walking through to a conservatory. As we walked through we saw the kitchen on one side and the bar on the other with also chains hanging over the door ways. We then arrived to the restaurant and it looked like we were walking into an old people’s home. No music, awful decoration and we felt like we were visiting some ancient relatives. We sat down and placed our order to then realise our food was out within 2/3 minutes. Now for me that is far too quick, it seemed rushed and they just plated up pre cooked food and sent it out. The food came out and it looked sloppy, the mash was more like smash. The Yorkshire puddings where bought in which is a disgrace. Yorkshire puddings are supposed to be home made all the time. The vegetables tasted like they were out of a tin; bland and watery. The meat fell apart but was awfully dry. We all coated out meat in gravy but couldn’t save it! The roast potatoes weren’t roasted properly they tasted boiled and then shoved in the oven for 10 minutes, they were awful and you cannot call them proper roasted potatoes. We never complain because we find it rude and it gives off a bad atmosphere for other customers that surprisingly maybe enjoying it. We then had dessert which actually was half decent but we were given a grape cut in half and the tiniest cut of orange, it was like they were rationing it for ww2 still, which would suit the average age of the customers."
