"Positives and negatives to our visit the staff made our stay very pleasant especially one younger man who despite being rushed off his feet multitasking, always made sure to attend to requests at a rapid pace and ask customers if everything was ok. And always with enthusiasm and friendliness. The food was of a homemade good quality mash was a bit lumpy and carrots flavourless but the cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese some of the most cheesiest cheddarist taste ever. Unfortunately where we was sat right near a step in the dining area which led to the main food and drinks set up, this meant many customers and staff rushing directly past every second causing a draught and disturbance this table needs removing. It was clean but the leather chairs are ripped and the carpets in the main area are balding and oily. Not pleasing or hygienic I would return as the staff are fantastic and cheese dish and meat lovely but not in any rush."

"Welcoming and friendly staff, decent looking place, not much parking but there are places to park nearby. I tried the chicken madras which was nice and spicy, portion of pilau rice was very small though, nice pudding and drinks. I would go again. "Decided to eat here based on reviews Ordered a Lamb steak, t-bone steak and a couple of sizzler t-bone steaks , with sides of pasta, chips , mash and rice also peppercorn sauce Lamb steak had decent taste to it but the downside was half of it ended up being bones. The t-bone steaks were of a very generous portion size, definitely the biggest I've seen at that price, likewise the steak was decent taste wise, meat was nice n tender at the start but unfortunately three quarters through eating the steak, the meat got harder to eat, ended up getting more chewy. Had no complaints about any of the sides..."

"Not been here since new managenent took over but theyre doing a good job.Mexican menu is varied and fairly priced and food was hot and well presented. Lady serving was pleasant and very attentive. Went early Sunday afternoon and was quiet but believe it gets much busier later in the day.Also dog friendly so could bring pooch out for lunch . Only criticism would be needs more atmosphere as no music just tv showing a Western. Need to try the popular theme nights now!"

"we visit merge regularly and are never disappointed with eating. they like to have a court for another one we requested on the bankett. eating was hot and fresh. the garnels in the main court were large, juicy and not at all vaccinated. it's hard to eat everything. excellent value. the staff was pleasant and courteous and asked if we wanted a break between the meal times instead of telling us. well done, it was a great jubilee meal."

"If you could do a minus star for food I would. We waited an hour for our starters which was a disappointment to say the least, the nachos seemed microwaved the “melted cheese” was like plastic, not even a knife would cut through had better ones at the cinema which says it all, mussels that were so dry and tasted burnt (who is cooking this food). Fast forward another hour later and the mains arrived with no apology for the wait or update on the food. We ordered 4 rare-medium sirloin steaks all of which were well done plus a sad portion of 5 chips on the side (what’s even the point) and one gammon that was tougher than an old boot. We sent everything back of course and only got the mains taken off the bill. Not one to moan but it was literally so terrible. After looking forward to taking out our sick Grandmother it has been such a waste of an evening which is the most annoying thing. Will not be returning and would advise The Clarence to get a new chef and train their waiting staff better"

"We love this place. It’s a nice drive out and the view is lovely, the lunches are always spot on and the farm shop is lovely to shop in. We had lunch last week and it was very very good and a great price too....The chefs here are excellent, from the breakfasts to the pies and home made chips, it’s always perfect. This week I had the soup (leek and potato) and a sandwich (roast beef salad) The bowl of soup was enormous, home made and delicious. Really good on a cold February afternoon. The sandwich was also enormous and very soft bread. Beautifully cooked tender roast beef, generous salad and horseradish sauce. I couldn’t actually eat it all. My fiancé had the steak pie which was a huge slice with loads of steak inside, very fresh pastry and loads of chips, different types of vegetables and gravy. Plus fresh bread and butter. Our coffee tea was very nice too and the staff are absolutely lovely. I bought some jam clotted cream at the farm shop, some fresh sausages and some ham plus a huge bottle of fresh milk and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended."

"What a wonderful little village chippy this is. The staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. Lisa in particular always welcomes me with her lovely smile. It can get very busy so waiting times can be long but it is so worth it as the food is delicious. Sharon the owner is an asset to the community and she takes the time to greet her customers even though she is run off her feet as she is so busy. She knows her regular customers orders off by heart which is a lovely touch. I have called previously and said I 'll have my usual and she 's remembered. If your in the area visit Golden House. You will not be disappointed."

"As a Royton resident, I hate to draw everyone's attention to this place, and ensure I never get a table again as it's so busy, but hey, it's great food, and very reasonably priced, so credit where credit is due. We ate in, and found the ambience pleasant, and the mysteriously titled medium dry white wine delicious. It's not Chardonnay, pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc that I know I am a bit of a wine buff hate to toot my flute but it's true but it was delicious. Maybe it's Chinese wine? They do not have beers on tap, but they have an array of nice bottled beer at a reasonable price eg Tsing Tao. We will be back! a bit sooner than last time! Thank you"

"We had our wedding party at this restaurant last Thursday, celebrating with 13 family members for a meal and friends for drinks afterwards. It was an absolutely fabulous day and evening. The food was delicious, the staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make our day special and unforgettable. We can't thank them enough for the wonderful experience and first-class service we received. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"Got the legendary cheese pie with cheese sauce. The pie was extremely dry so I thought the cheese sauce would help. I expected the cheese sauce would be creamy but was so disappointed it was like it was made with water and thickened with cornflower it was thick and wouldn’t flow out of the bowl it was served in. The chips looked like they had been cooked 5 times they were tasty but dry crunchy and it looked like the fat was very old and discoloured. We was going to have a carvery but I’ve never seen a carvery with so many choices dry and wrinkled it looked disgusting. The peas we got were served in the smallest bowl there must have been 20 garden peas in them. The girl who served me was friendly and professional she was a credit to the pub. We spent almost £100 for only 4 main courses and 4 drinks. I did use my blue light card to get 10% discount but that was a very Amal reward for the quality of the food. I will never visit a Lees pub again for food. Also the member of staff replenishing the the hot plate had very wild curly hair and he had no head cover on."

"We went yesterday (24/02/2022) for my fiancees birthday lunch and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional, even our 13 yr old son enjoyed it (high praise indeed). The food was presented beautifully and there was no skimping on portions. The pan fried black...pudding was delicious as was the salt and pepper chicken wings. The mains were no different either. The burger was lovely and the pizza also. The young lady who served us was so friendly and pleasant and very attentive, despite the pub being very busy. I'm sorry but I didn't catch her ame but she is a real credit to the pub. We will deffinately be back and would reccommend to all our friends and family. EXCELLENT !!!"

"There has been a change in the menu recently and it’s a definite improvement. I always enjoy the food here. Good portion size just right. We had the sharing platter fajitas which was sizzling hot meat peppers onion in spices with hot wraps and salad and sauces. Lovely. You get two wraps each but they were big so one was enough for me. Ordered chips in case it wasn’t enough but didn’t need to. Took the second one home with me for supper. Very reasonably priced good food."

"We were made to feel very welcome here after a hard day of walking in boiling hot sunshine. Had contacted to say we were en route and would they still be serving food. They said they would keep the kitchen open for us. Even when we arrived much mater than anticipated, we were still offered a reduced choice of food which was very well received. As was the excellent Tiger Ruts beer which we followed our meal with! Friendly landlord/landlady and locals. And only 150 yards to our b&b too. All in all was a great end to a great day. Thanks."

"I was I the brunch on Broadway waited in line, asked if I could order at the counter I was probably told to use the machines. Unfortunately I was a cash customer machines do not accept cash as a disabled man in my 50s who is dyslexic and unable to read the machines properly, so I had no breakfast no food, out of embarrassment, having to leave the store empty-handed and then going to McDonald’s a bit further up the road. I think subway needs to encourage their stuff to provide a far better customer service, not all people are able or willing to use the machines provided very unhappy customer"

"I frequently visit this restaurant as it is conveniently located nearby. I always opt for the 5-course meal priced at £10, although the only downside for me is the ice cream as I am lactose intolerant. Nevertheless, the meal is well worth the money. I recommend not eating for hours beforehand as the starters alone are quite filling. Despite not being a big fan of Indian cuisine, this is the only restaurant I go to for it. My go-to dish is the tikka masala, which I often take home in a doggy bag for my dad if I am unable to finish it all. I love this place."

"Well I’ve been going here since it opened ,I work away so only get to go wen I’m home but I can tell you this for nowt, this has fast become the best chippy in Oldham . Let’s start with price . I’ve paid a lot more for food I’ve ended up not eating can’t fault the price, portion size , I can honestly say I can never eat it all, I usually have bread but I don’t now and still struggle , huge portions. The specials, and believe me they are special , the steak dark fruits cider pie is so tasty next time it’s on I’m have 2 pieces and no chips…..Ive just had the sausage,cheese and bean pie and wow fantastic, if you haven’t tried thier sexy spam spam and cheese in batter then you are missing out. They do a special pie most weeks sadly I can’t always get it but from friends who have they all say the same, bloody delishhhhhh…. The staff, well they are so nice and friendly they even want to come and eat with you ….if you have the last pice of special pie and room in your car . Joking aside absolutely thumbs up , 5 star, top notch can’t beat it. If you haven’t yet been please try it I promise you won’t be disappointed."

"Really poor service today at the street bridge.... went out as a group for Father’s Day people) all ordered food and drinks..... the food was disgusting I wouldn’t feed it to my dog.... the stacker adults burger which included jalapeños some cheese (that looked...like rubber and was hard) and two patties of meat which didn’t taste like any meat was dry, I carnt Even find the right words to describe the taste of it, it comes to something when my two year old son wouldn’t even eat it). Even the bacon that came on the burger didn’t taste like bacon it was see through and greasy.When the male member of staff came over to move our plates, one of the burgers had been bitten into, we asked for a refund on the burger meals as we was not happy, he went over to a lady behind the bar to see if we could have a refund..... she then sent another member of staff over who was quiet rude to me and my friend and asked why Out the burgers hadn’t been touched. We tried to explain that we had tasted the one burger... and was all totally put off by the taste. No doubt it my mind you could get a better burger cooked by my year old child with a burger from the local cornet shop freezer. The young man was rude and abrupt “I’m not being funny or anything “.... was his words and then to come up with a silly excuse of two of the burgers hadn’t been touched.... believe me one taste of a burger was enough to put anyone off... but to stand there and try and tell us we are wrong is bad customer service. So did we have to bite all the burgers to tell you they was disgusting. After a minuet discussion between the manager and the lad with the stinking attitude problem they decided not to refund out of meals.... bad customer service rude staff and certainly will never be returning to this pub for food. I will sure be telling friends and family about my experience.... the food was probably nicer when they had the or star food safety rating... Inhope people fine this useful and avoid this place by all cost!"
