"I have visited 3 times in the last month once to sit in and eat and the other 2 times for coffee to take out. Staff are friendly and the place inside is lovely, warm and inviting. There is also seating just outside the front door, and more tables across the courtyard. The food was nice when I sat in to eat, but wait times for the take away coffee was too long, especially when the cafe wasn’t that busy."

"Went on a Monday night as everything on the menu is only £5.00, food is typically pub chain mass produced so don’t expect a la carte. Drinks are reasonably priced but I do struggle to understand why it’s so difficult to pour a decent pint of Guiness, lack of training I suppose. The staff are friendly but they could do with a decent uniform as jeans and dirty trainers doesn’t look very nice. No body came to ask if our food was ok or if we needed anything else. Perhaps a bit more interaction with the customer might generate a few more tips."

"I happened to pass by this restaurant while taking a stroll in town and just had to check it out! They had an incredible variety of cakes, brownies, and other desserts. I tried a jammy dodger square (I can't recall the exact name, but it was a combination of a blondie and rocky road) and it was delicious. It was a generous portion with a lovely gooey jam filling, as well as chocolate, biscuit, and marshmallow pieces. My wife ordered the Oreo cookie pie and it was also very tasty. I highly recommend trying their treats and we will definitely be returning the next time we're in town!"

"Visited for the first time for a Sunday carvery. We are two vegans, one with a peanut allergy. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate, to ensure we knew what was suitable for us to eat and to make us feel comfortable. Our main was freshly prepared separately for us, and I was given my own allergy friendly tongues to use for the vegetables. The chef was very friendly and helpful, and we were not made to feel an inconvenience in any way (which can sometimes happen with dietary requirements at other restaurants! . Will definitely visit again :"

"My partner and I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and we absolutely love it. It's our go-to spot for food and drinks, and whenever we crave traditional English cuisine, this is always our top choice. The Steak and Ale Pie is absolutely delicious; I order it every time. My partner always goes for the Fish and Chips, which he thinks is the best in Shaw! When we come with our families, they always enjoy the Lasagne and Garlic Bread, another favorite. The staff are always attentive and we will definitely be back soon."

"The service at this restaurant was lacking in professionalism. We went in for breakfast and placed a simple order, but after 25 minutes, our food still had not arrived. After asking about our order, it finally came out within 5 minutes. One of the meals was perfect, but the bacon roll with extras was missing the egg. After sending it back, it returned with the egg but without the bacon. It was baffling how a bacon roll could be missing the bacon. A male staff member tried to blame us for the mistake, even though the order was clearly for a bacon roll with extras. Overall, we were not impressed with the service, even though the food itself was decent. The staff seemed unorganized and below par, making the experience feel more like a comedy show rather than a restaurant."

"I was staying in Oldham with work at the Premier Inn. After an extrememly disappoiting meal at the adjacent Brewers Fayre I decided to venture further afield and found Indian Ocean. I returned every night and had differnet dishes all of which were superb. The staff are readlly friendly, all food is served fresh and piping hot there isn't rally any more that you could wish for. I am returning to Oldham with work soon and will definitely be returninig"

"Lovely location, stunning views, very clean but some some rooms are little dated, room 23 at the top is not ideal if you have any health issues, it's bit of a trek and 2 flights stairs, we had many rooms between us as we were staying for a wedding so it was good to see the variations. As I said rooms are clean but some need little tlc but if it's just for sleeping it's perfect. Most of the staff wee helpful and polite a couple seemed a little abrupt and not very co operative . Didn't like the way the clea n linen was left outside each room on the dirty corridor carpet so that could easily be addressed, and should be. The food was amazing can't fault it. Reasonably priced and good selection. I d definitely pop in for a meal but not sure I'd stay over again. However the hotel is relaxed and friendly. Great for weddings."

"since all restrictions have ended, this local device has gone from strength to strength. quiz always looked busy on a Wednesday night, busy Fridays, we always go for tee. eating is fantastic. try the sputpudding it is delicious. many of the choices on the...Menu, although I would personally like to see that it has changed again, otherwise it threatens to be the same age. vikki leads the restaurant, she is beautiful, the staff are all brilliant, by jack on the bar, top man, demi, which is very friendly and deserves to be staff of the month. it's the best pub in royton. from sport on tvs, to eat and a great place, just to catch up with friends, the halfy, as their lovingly known by the natives, is to be the place. it also has a large beer garden for when the sun occasionally shines. Saturdays they have live entertainment. dog-friendly pub, ideal for families."

"The Kingfisher is a family friend pub offering good value for meals. We visit on a weekly basis as form Monday to Friday daytime you can select classic pub grub of a 2 meals for £10 ideally suiting senior clientele. Portion size is ideal for the pensioner appetite. Fish and chips, scampi, curry and pies are available. For a little more there is a good selection of salads, burgers and delicious grills available. The bar staff are friendly and obliging (our favourites is Pam) who welcome you and remember your drinks which are served with a smile. It’s not fine dining but for a midweek treat it’s ideal without breaking the bank! It can be a little noisy during school holidays as it has a lovely children’s area and an ideal children’s menu. For sunny days there is a lovely sitting area outside with the canal running by. A great cup of coffee and desserts to die for along with a good wine cellar and mocktails and cocktails available. Special themed events take place seasonally. Sunday’s offer a could choice or roasts with a 2 for £12 tempter."

"my wife and 2 children ate here today, we are on vacation in the opposite and had booked in advance, as we were not sure how busy it would be, although it did not seem necessary. on the day before the recreating that kitchen would say. somewhat later be opened due to unforeseen circumstances, and asked if it would be good to adjust our booking? that was good with us and appreciated, instead of the day to find out. there were only 2 parking places like many pubs that they had to use clearly due to covid to go better here. the employees were all very friendly and on request also a high chair for our 8 month old. eating was nice, not gastropub (and I don't think they try to be), but classic house made pub grub too very cheap trips. we were somewhat disappointed that there was no Sunday lunch menu in the offer, but under current circumstances understand the need to offer a more limited menu."

"The Salt Cellar is based in an interesting old building close to the centre of Oldham. It is set back slightly from the main shopping area which means it is an ideal place to go for lunch when shopping, or maybe just for a drink and a quick break. It is staffed by a number of volunteers who give up their time in order to contribute to the work The Salt Cellar does in our community. Anyone living in Oldham will know that we are a relatively deprived area and The Salt Cellar gives opportunities to local homeless people whilst running activities for young people who otherwise might have nothing positive in their lives. So, buy some cake and help the local community, seems good to me."

"Where to start? Walked in to be met by plastic flowers and red gloss paint, musty greasy smell in the air. Despite this I thought I’ll give it a go as this had been recommended. Drinks flat pints of cobra, the only draught lager on offer. Flat coke poured out of a 2ltr bottle at £3.90 a pint. Starters special mixed, which consisted of a tiny lamb chop covered in a gooey red sauce. Seekh kebab of a mushy consistency chicken chaat without a puri bread and a piece of chicken tikka. Average at best. Main lamb tikka thawa which came served in the frying pan it was made in! Seriously!! Nothing like an authentic thawa it was greasy and lacking any flavour profile. Rice was ok chips were fries and not the best. Naan breads and chapati all ok. All in all a poor experience somewhat like walking into an only fools and horses set"

"A small order of onion rings, a (very very small Stromboli with a medium cup of sauce, and a “quart” size fountain soda ran me $12.56. I only wish I had taken a picture, because that’s the only way you would understand how disappointing this meal was. I have frequented this shop many times in the past but it seems like every time I go in there, the portions get smaller and the prices get bigger. The stromboli – which is my favorite in the area – was just pitiful. Tiny. I would be surprised if there were more than a couple ounces of meat and cheese inside it. It tasted fine; it just wasn’t worth nearly seven dollars. My husband already boycotts the place because of the ridiculous prices. I think Debbie’s only stays in business because they have a loyal following in the area; they’ve been around for 25+ years. For me, the only reason I still go there is because A. it’s a convenient place for me my friends to meet every couple of months and B. I really do love the taste of the stromboli."

"Additionally, there were guests from the motel mingling around the bar asking for drinks, which was quite uncomfortable and felt a bit inappropriate. It was disheartening to see, especially since this isn't what you anticipate when going out for a meal. However, our server, a young woman who I believe was named Lynsey, was wonderful. She went above and beyond to assist us and was incredibly friendly. You could tell she was under a lot of pressure and didn't have much support, but she was fantastic and definitely deserves more help. I would consider returning, but probably just for a quick meal."

"Went on the 12th April 2019 for special birthday celebration, the food was not up to our expectations, the chicken madras included boiled chicken very watery sauce and popodoms greasy, steak was substandard and very sparse chips and veg, the soup was weak, the pizza was just put on a plate and was underdone. Was kept waiting for 20 mins for dessert and when I asked the waitress she said it would be another 15 mins?? I asked for the bill as we were very frustrated at this point. Becky the waitress was very apologetic for the food we were presented with and stated that other customers were also complaining. She said that there was no Head Chef and that she was being asked on how to cook and prepare the food!! The waitresses were extremely helpful and working hard but I noticed one lady in particular crying. Please note that the Victoria is welcoming from the onset, but there was also a bad smell in the toilets and the area where we sat in was right next to where the food was being prepared and the glass partition was in need of cleaning. We were compensated by omitting the drinks bill. I hope these faults are quickly resolved so we can visit again."
