"I visited Jedburgh this weekend gone, many things here seem to have changed in recent times and not for the better if you are a visitor, many pubs and restaurants are either closed or are part time (very part time) Luckily Belters bar was not only open for business, it was just as inviting as it was during my last visit. The owners are very friendly, as are the customers. I had a very enjoyable weekend here. There is a very good selection of beers here, the jewel in the crown is the restaurant, excellent food at very reasonable prices. Without any shadow of doubt this is by far my favourite place for food and drink in Jedburgh. Please note, you are best advised to book a table if you wish to dine here, they fill up very fast."

"First time at this lovely family restaurant. It will not be the last. The food was excellent. All freshly prepared and great variety. The nan bread was sublime. The tarka dahl was also amazing. We were delighted with everything. Dad was cooking and mum was front of house with the teenage kids helping with service. We chatted with them and it was so nice to be in a family restaurant. I asked for a sweet lassi to drink and although it was not on the menu they were happy to make me one and it was excellent. To top it all, it was very reasonable priced. Highly recommended."

"we came to eyemouth for the signposted harbour and a fast bad break on the way from edinburgh to england, but found this beautiful little caffe to the breakfast after checkout of the boats and a surprising seal on the rocks! this place gave an overall pleasant mood to finish our short stay there. we both had a Scottish breakfast and tees, I enjoyed the potato and haggis above all. the brot was also really good. the caffe was very clean (it is also strictly wearing on mask, what we like to see) the personal is also very beautiful. make sure they arrived at their breakfast there before 11 o'clock, as it was quite busy when we first passed it on the way to the harbour, but I am glad we were going back. make sure that dogs are not allowed inside, but there are a few tables outside when they want to take them. we thought it was strange that the caffe did not advertise itself as "the last Scottish breakfast in the countryside", as we saw nothing else after that and we would definitely come back when we travel this stretch again!"

"that was the best meal I had eaten in the limits. it started nicely with the common fish plate that was amazing and it seemed as if the trout was a wild, not bred. the steak perfectly cooked with cafe de paris butter, which makes it to perfection and chips to die. the finale was a dessert in the sky. I had the choice of desserts and everyone was a taste feeling. would recommend this restaurant and I hope to go back here."

"Food was very, very bland. I ordered a curry with “fresh green chilli” in the ingredients expecting some heat, zing, nuttin’, jus’ a bland, tasteless sauce. Booker cash and carry frozen king prawns in the Tiger Prawn Puri (I was expecting nice fresh prawns in the shell) Not a lot of lamb in the curry, 4 large pieces and a wee piece. The keema nan was brilliant though AND the food came out hot, which is always good. Waitress was great, very good service, but she was let down by the kitchen :0( Place was cold too, the mobile heater was in reception. No heat in restaurant. Not a great experience."

"My wife and I have visited this restaurant several times now and have always had a fantastic dining experience. The staff is wonderful and accommodating, especially when it comes to my severe food allergy. They even printed out an egg-free version of the menu for me. Our most recent visit was on New Year's Eve, where we enjoyed a delicious tasting menu with options that were safe for me to eat. To top it off, they surprised me with a special dessert that was made just for me. It was a thoughtful gesture that really impressed us. We have already made reservations for January and plan to dine here at least once a month. With top-notch food just around the corner, what's not to love about this place? It's definitely a touch of class."

"My family arrived at the restaurant 2.30pm, and I was coming to join them after my work. I arrived at 2.45pm. The woman handed me a menu, within 5 seconds I was asked what I wanted. So I said “I have just been handed the menu, can you give me a minute please” and the woman responded extremely rudely “well the kitchen is closing so hurry up”. I handed the woman back the menu and told her not to bother. My families meals arrived shortly after as they had all ordered around half 2. The food for my family arrived at around 2.50pm. By 3pm, the woman came over asking my family if they were finished yet… Each plate still had atleast half the meal left so it was clear nobody was close to finished. The woman then said “well we close at 3 so please hurry”. Why on earth would you allow people to order four meals after 2.30pm, if you wanted them out for 3pm? The food didn’t even come out until after 2.45pm… So they expected everyone to rush their meals in ten minutes?? Staff were extremely rude (except from The young girl, she was polite and nice). There was an older guy who was clearly involved in the business, who decided to sit across from the table for the last 5 minutes and stared at us the entire time clearly trying to make us leave quicker. Worst thing is, the food was awful. Definitely do not recommend"

"Lovely friendly welcome from staff, very efficient and professional. Great menu options and they are very happy to help you with the specials menu. Great portion sizes we couldn’t finish ours but it’s great they allow you to take things away to reduce food waste. We had the salt and pepper chicken burger … AMAZING! And the BBQ chicken melt which was also high quality and very filling. Thank you"

"3rd visit,though we'd try the Christmas menu,,,wrong choice Firstly waited 10 minutes to be seated in a freezing reception with around 6 other people,then shown into a hall , when I had booked the small area,then eventually ordered by the most dullest waitresses ever,the 2 young girl were fine. Good choices on the menu ,but the roast best was as tough as old boots,dog enjoyed it when we got home. Turkey was fine and plentiful. Kids had the steak burger, tastless, macaroni, no taste. Seeing it was Christmas the hall could have been a little bit Christmassy. Quick enough with the bill,but very poor service overall"

"2 bottles of wine 4 diners.. 2 Small starters shared by 4. Main dishes looked and smelled delicious. I'm pescatarian there were enough choices for me. Mushroom risotto was lovely and the ravioli with spinach cheese was amazing. The ravioli on its own didn't fill me I'd have maybe shared a side dish next time. Don't usually eat a sweet but as I'd room I did. Was very good. You have a choice of tipping with payment. Didn't like the long walk back to car but at least it wasn't raining!"

"The Ship Inn is a cozy pub with two main sections, including a small area for locals on the left and a larger area on the right. The pub has recently been renovated but still maintains its old stone walls and traditional bar. It has a layout similar to the Clutha Bar and is dog friendly, like many other pubs in Melrose. The pub serves a delicious pint of Deuchars IPA, which is a rare find. While the outdoor area at the back was undergoing refurbishment during our visit, it looks promising and will likely be a great spot to enjoy a drink in the sun in Melrose."

"We had made a reservation for a table of 13 at this restaurant, where all of us ordered fish except for one person. When the fish dishes started being brought out, they looked lovely and were a great size. However, when it came to my sister and me, our fish was completely different - it appeared to be frozen fish like what you would find in a supermarket. We were charged £15 for this dish and were not happy with the quality. We believe that we should have been given the option to choose a different dish from the menu, but unfortunately, this was not offered to us. This experience has left us feeling disappointed and we likely will not return to this restaurant. This is a stark contrast to our previous visits, where we had no issues with the food."

"Called in as I read the positive reviews on here. Ordered omelette with spinach, cheese and onion. Wife ordered toast as they were unable to offer egg on toast. It all arrives on the same cardboard tray for some reason. The omelette looked nice but...was burnt inside, it had been folded inwards so it looked fine on the outside. This has left me with a burnt taste still now a while later. No one asked if everything was okay with our meal and staff were not approachable. They were chatty with the locals though No condiments offered, perhaps they were hiding somewhere for self service? Coffee was delicious but small. Beyond the disappointing food everything is served in disposable cups and trays. Truly bizarre and such a waste. Judging by the owners responses on here to negative reviews no doubt it will be all my fault We walked down the road to loulabelles to order pancakes which is where we are as we write this. Will not be recommending to anyone"

"we recently moved to peebles and wanted to try Indian. we were not disappointed by shukria. excellent vegetarian choices, efficient delivery and amazing food. the only small suggestion I would make is to deliver in strong paper carrier bags, because the plastic delivery bag is not recyclable, otherwise it would be 5 stars."

"I can't believe we actually travel from Motherwell to Innerleithen just to eat at this restaurant. Their menu offers a variety of dishes that I have never seen in any other Indian restaurant, and I would love to try them all. The service is fantastic - attentive but not overwhelming. The garlic naan is one of the best I've ever had, and I always make sure to order it when I dine here. I highly recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to return. I just wish they offered delivery to Motherwell."

"We have enjoyed dining here for years now because of the excellent food. However, when visited in August we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food. Despite this, we visited again last night for a very special occasion because we have loved eating here in the past. Our starters arrived half an hour after ordering. Then whilst a few tables who arrived after us received their food we waited another 45 minutes for our main courses to arrive. When they did arrive, one of them was not what we ordered and it took only five minutes for a fresh one to be prepared. This perplexed us; if it takes only five minutes why had we waited so long? It really spoiled our celebration and although I made it clear that we had waited too long, we were asked at the end whether everything was okay. It seemed that the wait staff had not understood how dissatisfied we were. Hence the reason for my review; the food needs to be served in a more timely manner. Not sure we’ll be back any time soon, which is a shame because the food is superb!"
