"Ordered the usual takeaway at 6.45pm to be told it would be approx 1 hour and a half. Phoned back at 8.30 to be told it was on its way. Phoned again at 8.50 to be told ours would be next. Takeaway delivered at 9.10 driver seemed to be unaware of the time delays but said he would relay my concern when he got back. Phoned back at 9.25 to complain about the double single fish which was over cooked and dry with the feeling it had been cooked earlier and then reheated prior to delivery. Girl on phone insisted all food was cooked fresh and everybody had experienced the same time delay. If that was the case surely the drivers would have been aware. Most disappointed when the fish had always been top notch before. I also don't believe everyone waited nearly two hours and a half for their takeaway. Loyalty obviously does not matter and maybe they will be happy to have a few less customers if they are too busy."

"So glad we found Wee Josie's, a small family run cafe who prepare fresh food to order and use good quality ingredients. The breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful. There is also a book swap which I think is a fabulous idea. We went back for lunch the next day. The food and service was again fantastic. Will definitely return the next time we are in the area."

"The food at this restaurant was very good, although it was not as hot as I would have preferred. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow. It took half an hour before our order was taken, and then there was another long wait. The waiter had to come back to check what our order was, so it seemed like it may have been forgotten. We ended up going to the bar a few times to get our own drinks because there was no one around to take our order. When we finished our main meal, it didn't look like we would be ordering dessert anytime soon, so we decided to leave at that point. It was a shame because we had dined here before and the service was good. Perhaps this was just a night where the restaurant was understaffed. The positive side was that we had a 50% off voucher, so it was good value for the meal."

"Booked a table for a birthday dinner far in advance had asked for a good table, however we were sat at the bottom of the restaurant near the fire exit. The table next to us had children who they could not control, running around and nearly knocking our drinks over on numerous occasions. I realise this is not the fault of the restaurant but we actually had to move our table over when we arrived as we were far too close to them. Our waiter was unbelievably rude and did not utter more than two words to us during our dinner. No hello, no how are you doing just what you having? When our starter came he just put it down and walked away, I could not believe how bad the communication was. We finished our starter and again no communication, no how was your starter just took the plates away and that was it. Our drinks were near enough empty by this point and no offer of a refill. We continuously had to ask for drinks and when we did it was as if we were a problem. We asked for the bill off a different waiter (not on purpose she was just passing) who was nice and asked how our meal was etc. I did not complain to her as she had not served us during the meal, the man who did serve us came over and pulled the receipt from the card machine and walked off. No thank you, no nothing again. I did not tip when I usually do as the service during our meal was awful.The food was lovely, I have to say this as I was impressed by the food taste however the service was not good.I was so disappointed as we had heard such good things about Souter’s Inn. We had pre booked a taxi for 2 hours away and could not get one any sooner so we had to sit at the bar for this time and wait. Again, every time we needed a drink there was no offer by the bar staff."

"first visit last month had the renter 3 curs meal it was nice that she could see that it cook home to its best and only £7 each that was a bargain. we wanted to close it by 15 o'clock, the dame gave me a...bout with 2 homemade donuts that were delicious. Monday, 25th april visited how a great breakfast in the hotel we were in just had tee and house made scene at this opportunity that were beautiful will definitely be back."

"We travelled to Maybole last week and the food was so good that we went twice. I had the Chicken Tempura for lunch and it was delicious, just the right amount of crisp and the perfect heat for the chilli sauce too. Dinner was exceptional, I had the steak and sometimes ordering 'medium rare ' can be a bit hit and miss this was like cutting through a cloud, it melted in my mouth. Probably one of the best steaks I 've ever had. Jim and Donna were as welcoming as they ever are, and that 's always brilliant. The kids and my husband loved it too, especially our friend 's child from Birmingham who knew nothing of Scotland found it so friendly and warm. Will definitely be back. Thanks Donna and Jim and all the very helpful and friendly staff."

"Well, if ever a coffee shop could make people so unwelcome, this place deserves an accolade!The three of us sat down at a table, with no acknowledgement from the sour faced young waitresses behind the counter who watched us come in.Apart from us, there were only two other tables occupied. That should probably have been a warning sign.The two waitresses, well, their work ethic leaves a lot to be desired. They saw us peruse the menu and kept popping through to the kitchen, with no indication that they would take our order.After waiting for ten minutes, we got up,and left....to be confronted by the same unfriendly glowers that we had met on coming in! On going round the corner, we went to The Stawberry Cushion, where we were greeted with a smile, excellent service from the young staff and first class food.We know where we will be going next time!"

"I visited this café for the first time and was greeted by a lovely lady. The front area was busy, but there is a comfortable rear area with booths and additional seating. A staff member informed me of the specials, which included two types of soup, a vegan option, a bagel with scrambled eggs and avocado, and a few other choices. I opted for the lentil soup, which was delicious and well-seasoned, and a tuna wrap with salad and coleslaw. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. I noticed some tasty-looking milkshakes at a nearby table, and I was pleased to see that the restaurant is dog-friendly. Overall, I had a pleasant lunch and felt welcomed. I will definitely visit this café again when I am back in the area."

"Have been at The Smithy once before and it was very good and that is why we returned today. But today it was awful. My daughter got a baked potato which was hard and uncooked and I asked for a cheese and pickle toastie but they didn’t do pickle and had to take mango chutney. I could have made a better toasties at home. The toastie came with a teaspoon of coleslaw and dorito type crisp which were stale. This cost me £8.95 (OMG) and the baked potato which was changed but still dreadful was £10 with a dessert spoon of cheese and a small portion of coleslaw. They actually asked if everything was ok when I was paying but I complained and had the drinks removed from the total price. They were £2.65 each...really for a can of Fanta Don't know where they get the prices from which are certainly ridiculous for the what we received. We had been there before and my daughter asked for the same as today, baked potato with cheese and coleslaw which came with a huge salad. Were told that they no longer serve salad on plates and have stopped pickle for the toasties I'm almost sure we wouldn't be the only disappointed customers. Will definitely not be going back and would advise others not to waste their money."

"Called with family earlier this week, the building itself looks run down from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food that we all recieved. The only down side to our visit was that whilst sitting outside in the sunshine we were joined at the next table by a family that had two French Bulldogs that snorted like pigs, we felt like moving inside but decided to stay and suffer the snorting, we will think twice about eating outside again when we go back. Well worth a second visit."

"We were staying in the area and looking for somewhere for Easter Lunch. We stumbled across Cotters and thought we would go for a look before booking. At first glance we were a bit confused as this is situated at Malin Court which is both a Hotel and residential home but were shown around and invited to look at the restaurant before booking. We were assured that the menu could be flexible if it didnt suit the Children and so we booked. We arrived for dinner and were seated immediately by very friendly waiting staff and the orders were taken quickly. A lovely meal followed with plenty of choice and attentive staff throughout. The food was tasty and reasonably priced at £15 for two courses and £18 for three. The restaurant was light airy and very warm and welcoming. After we had eaten and had coffees the children were given an Easter egg which was a lovely touch as was the homemade fudge that came with the coffee. We felt very welcome here and had a lovely Easter meal so would come again if in the area."

"We've been eating here for a few years now and it's been a family favourite. I'm afraid it's just not special enough anymore to justify the journey . We live 30 miles away but we're happy to drive that distance in the past. There have been too many changes and the things my family loved have been stripped away. Prawn crackers with the chicken curry- no more. No garlic bread for the kids, very minimal breakfast options, few choices of juices. It's not a good idea to mess with something that works."

"I stopped by this charming cafe on my way back from a vacation in Ayr. It had been a couple of years since my last visit. Margaret, the owner, was delightful and incredibly friendly, making me feel right at home. I indulged in some delicious soup and breakfast rolls, which were very reasonably priced. The homemade baking was also a nice touch. I highly recommend this cafe and look forward to returning soon."

"Tonight I had a takeaway with some family from Ocean view(old Harbour view been a name change) Chinese Ayr .food was lovely everyone enjoyed it . Until I took a bit out my duck spring roll to find a duck bone!and that was it couldn't finish my meal. Then when checked bank to discover I have been charged an extra £3 on top of the £19something what my order was for using their contactless machine .And might I add at no point was myself or sisters told that there would be an additional charge for using the machine! Disappoint."

"Called in Sat night 15th Feb to treat my darling to a Valentines Birthday feast. This restaurant holds happy memories for her since childhood. New managers Queenie and Chris with amazing chef Louise gave my wee darling woman a wonderful warm cheery welcome with spectacular blends of tasty food. to our surprise at one point they dimmed the lights off and came in with a lovely surprise birthday sweet with candle. Perfect service, perfect food, great atmosphere from staff and excellent value for money. We shall visit more often with the new management teams customer service. Quality all round."
