"Course 1 Appetiser: Poppadoms, Pickle Tray Poppadoms were light and crisp. They proved a wonderful vehicle for the hot and sour lime pickle. This balanced well with the pungent freshness of the onion salad and the comforting stickiness of the mango chutney. Course 2 Starter: Tandoori Naga Roast An impressive construction! The juicy flesh of the peppers working beautifully with the char of the blackened skin. A delicious vessel for the spiced meat stuffing. Course 3 Fish: Bahari Fish Bhuna, Chips The chunks of catfish were tender and perfectly cooked. The delicate spicing allowed the fish to be the star of the show. The fish is paired with exceptional chips to give a playful reimagining of a seaside treat. Course 4 Poultry: Sara's Hot Duck, Garlic Onion Rice The rich fattiness of the duck proved more than a capable sparring partner for the combative chilli gravy in which it was served. Any suspicions that the feistiness of the garlic and onion in the rice may not sit harmoniously with the curry were unfounded. With so many strong flavours this dish could have been a boxing match, instead it was a beautiful capoeira routine. Course 5 Meat: Keema Vindaloo, Cheese Naan Bolognese and cheese is always on the menu in my household and at Sara's it is delightfully deconstructed. The bolognese here beefed up (or should that be lambed up? with brave, confident spicing and a whack of chilli heat to be reborn as a perfect keema vindaloo. Spaghetti? Take a hike up the Old Man! The superbly fluffy cheese naan instead takes centre stage. There's no better way to mop up a plate of hot curry. This ain't bolognese like Nana used to make it! Course 6 Dessert: Tandoori Butter Chicken, Peshwari Naan When cooking classic dishes such as butter chicken there's no place to hide and there's no need for hiding when your food is as good as this. Creamy, sweet sauce, clinging to juicy strips of chicken makes this the perfect pud. Palate cleanser: Tarka Daal Exceptional. Allowed each course to sing it's own beutiful song. Drinks pairings: Belhaven Best, Tennent's Special, McEwan's Export All three great as always. Tennent's Special a particular highlight on this occasion. Amen x"

"On reading the reviews I decided it was best to book a table and this proved to be advisable as it was very busy. On entering it was very hot and busy. I had asked for a quiet table and this was provided, however it was Table 11 which meant waitresses going behind you to get crockery etc and diners using the facilities. The chairs were a bit low for me and seemed to skid quite easily, however they were comfortable enough. The service and food was excellent. We were looked after by a couple of waiting staff, all very polite and helpful. The drinks order was taken first, hubby had a non-alcholic beer, our friend had an Appletizer and I asked for a GLASS of dry white wine, unfortunately however as it was so noisy that waitress must have misheard and a bottle with three glasses arrived. However when we pointed this out, no problem, the waiter was very apologetic and just took them away and came back with the correct order. We were there for a celebratory meal. We decided to have starters and opted for the sharing platter of what was really a sort of charcuterie platter. All very nice, but quite large for a starter. For our main courses my husband had the Homemade Lasagne and I opted for the Milano Betulla's (a chicken, mushroom, onion and pasta dish). Both were delicious. I don't usually opt for anything with onion in it, but this was good, just enough onion to give it crunch and flavour but not too much. My only comment is that the portions were HUGE. Personally I would have preferred to have had half the portion with a small salad to accompany them. I had to leave half of mine. Our friend opted for one of their pizzas. This was a good size and he said it was one of the best pizzas he had ever had. Hubby and friend decided to go for a dessert, of the cheesecake of the day. They said it was nice but way to chocolatey for them. I was too full but needed something to cool me so had a dish that had ice cream where you poured espresso coffee over it and that did help with the digestion. All in all a very pleasant experience and I would recommend, but would advise booking, especially during the holiday seasons."

"Having lived in the Lake District for 8 years I’ve only ever been to Baha for drinks. I’ve always wanted to try their food so I went last night (9th of October). The way the food is described on the menu is certainly inviting and everything sounded delicious. I chose the bubble bobble jumbo red shrimp. when this arrived at the table I was not expecting a bowl of chips with 4/5 battered prawns on top of them. but I thought okay presentation not great but it might taste okay. The shrimp was flavourless. The chips were nice but on the menu it states it comes with torched lime and black and white sesame seeds. Which neither of these were to be seen. I did not realise this until I left. Anyways, I expressed to the waitress that for the price of this it’s not really worth the money. And she replied “this is the Lake District, it’s expensive here”. Which I am fully aware of I don’t expect a cheap meal in the lakes. But why should that make the quality less? She apologised and looked me up and down like what I was saying was outrageous I work in the hospitality trade myself and have done for many years so I always like to give FOH staff the benefit of the doubt as I know it’s a hard job dealing with the public. The gentleman in the white shirt was very pleasant and his customer service was excellent. The girl however could do with some lessons on how to speak to people . Anyways, I feel like I’ve been cheated out of £80 for poor quality food. I hope you will take these comments into consideration"
